Some pages were recovered of her journals and from what could be properly gathered...She was a Duskwright Elezen with light skin, long flowing black hair and that's it. No one knows her eye color or face shape.

Xyla is a cynical and harsh teacher while also laying truth to those around her. But she is very motherly and aims to give people some closure or warmth despite her misdeeds.

Xyla Quintessence lived during the dawn of magic's discovery. Yet despite her affiliation with Aether, she grew up as a local with in the shroud perfecting her alchemy which was far more complicated back then. Tending to people and giving them life advice while warding them off. For a witch, many consider her a miracle worker while majority feared her concoctions and herbal remedies. Some going as far as to try and sabotage her life...yet she continued on as expected. Her goal in life is to create an artificial doll that looked more real than others. Her life was fine until she met a certain man named Varthamith Von Netowa.

Varthamith was her lover and equal in magic. She taught him and he taught her. Varthamith even told her about the void and how she could harness it...yet she vowed to not touch such a power. Their life continued as such until the day Varthamith was to be executed for his treason and affiliation with Xyla. Her first loss came after breaking him away and not noticing till later that he was slain with arrows in his back.

And yet they had a child out of love. Being alone, it made it near impossible to deliver her child yet with some aid from a passerby, Alyx would be born...and not minutes after being born, her frail and meek self died in Xyla's arms. Xyla couldn't stand losing another close to her, so with her strength and sheer will, Xyla cast a spell to transfer Alyx into her 'Magnum Opus'. A red colored gemstone that looked like a sprite core and quickly etching a symbol upon it to bind her soul. Her new goal in life?

To give Alyx a new body...

In the time she was alive, Xyla used forbidden and taboo spells to keep herself alive, to bolster her strength, to torment and kill those who stood in her path and eventually build the Ever-Expanding Library for further research and preservation of Knowledge. And until recent time, Xyla had failed over four hundred times to make the perfect body to house her daughter. And upon creation of doll #401, the last shred of Xyla's true self faded...and in her place the insane and corrupted presence she's contained since starting her spiral emerged in full.

Though that was long ago. She is back to normal as expected.

Combat

She no longer fights though rumors abound to her amazing skills in both Umbral and Astral Magic. Though no documentation of her wearing a blade, she was known to make a blade from elements. Perhaps...A Red Mage?

Abilities

Ghost : Xyla is nothing more but an Echo from her old self. The body she uses is but a shell to which she can physically interact with people and be heard/seen. Otherwise she is unnoticeable except to those with high aether senses or she allows it.
