—Ashren Snow

Appearance

Height: Tall for a Miqo'te. (5.6 fulms)

Weight: Athletic with a well-toned physique.

Complexion: Lightly tanned (Row 1, Column 5)

Hair: Pure white, often worn long and under a bandanna (Row 1, Column 1). His hair is often dyed a different color every few days however, though normally bits of his natural hair color will show through.

Eyes: Narrow and cat-like (Type 3), with a golden left eye and his right a glowing white color. (Left Row 7, Column 3; Right Row 1, Column 1)

Particular Traits: Ashren is covered in a number of deep scars from his head to his toe, though the most noticeable of them is the vertical scar over his right eye. In addition to this he has an unusual marking on his back, located between his shoulder blades that was left upon him after being sent five years through time after the Battle of Carteneau.

  • He has a tattoo of a spade that is located between his thumb and index finger on his right hand, however the tattoo uses a special ink and can only be viewed under a lamp that burns a special kind of oil. Only those who have the same tattoo understand it's meaning.

Relatives

Laurente Trentes (Father, Deceased): Laurente was the man who raised Ashren, taught him nearly everything he knows today, and it was he who would eventually place the most weight upon Ashren's shoulders after his loss. Laurente was not family by blood, but instead the man who would save him from a life of slavery as a child, and was the closest thing he ever had to kin.

Positive

Neutral

Ivi Enxlins: Ashren has only known Ivi for a short time, and isn't exactly sure what to make of her just yet.

Negative

Razeiel Venaire: The Poet, he was one of Ashren's most trusted allies and thought to be his right hand. When a task needed to be done, it was The Poet that Ashren often trusted with this task. Nymeia is fickle however and fate had other ideas in mind for the two. When Ashren became ill and the Voidsent took root in his heart and mind, he was forced to step down from his post as head of the Blades and Razeiel took up the mantle in his stead. However, no one leaves the Blades alive and because of this the two were forced to become enemies.

Davos Severand: First impressions are important, and the first impression Ashren got from this particular individual was a hand across his face while he was trying to enjoy his breakfast and relax at the Quicksand. While it might be a bit of a stretch to say Ashren hates the man, he definitely wouldn't try stop him from being trampled by a wild buffalo.

Music Themes

Note: Vocal Songs are attributed themes in which the lyrics seem to relate or partially relate to the character. They don't mean to resemble the character's voice. The instrumental themes are meant to give an idea of the atmosphere around the character. Songs with character names (example: "Tidus's Theme") are NOT meant to indicate that the character is like the theme owner. I just find the instruments and melody fitting, not the character the song was originally addressed to.

History

Name and Lifestyle

Name Etimology

The name Ashren was born with was C'thalj, translating roughly to Snow of the Couerl Tribe, or Snow Couerl. After being taken from his home by slavers his tribe name was stripped from him and he was instead given the slave name Ashren (or Ash) as an insult to his true name. While Ashren is in fact a slave name, he embraced it as his own because it was this name that heh was born as the man he is today under. Eventually however he combined his old name with his new, becoming Ashren Snow.

Nicknames

None yet.

Current Residence

Ashren currently resides at the Chateau de Snow, a small suite located in an isolated corner of Limsa Lominsa, originally used as a safe house for the Blades pre-Calamity he has now converted into a much more livable space.

Before Dalamud's Fall

Birth and childhood (0-10)

Ashren's childhood is something of a mystery, even to him. He was born to unknown parents, only remembering vague features and the tribe from which he came from after many long years. While he was born to the Couerl tribe, he has been so far removed from it that he has no idea what it is like to live among his people.

When Ashren was still very young he was taken from his home and sold into slavery on the black market of Ul'dah. It is unclear why, but Ashren apparently demonstrated a particular quality (one that was never really explained to him) that drew the interest of Laurente. It was because of this that the man purchased the young Miqo'te and perform manumission, taking the boy on as his protege rather than his property.

Teen Years

A life of hard labor and strict discipline awaited Ashren while being raised by Laurente, training almost every day as if his life depended on it (and in a way it did), he was honed into a brutal weapon both in body and mind. His training regime often included exercises that would test him both mentally and physically, and he was often put through both weekly and month aptitude tests to gauge his improvement over time.

He was taught how to wield a sword and shield by expert gladiators, trained how to box by the pugilists, and even enlightened in the ways of aetheric manipulation by the thaumaturges. By the time he was seventeen years old he had already learned nearly all that Ul'dah had to offer him.

Adulthood

After what seemed like a lifetime pain, sweat, and blood he would eventually learn what it had all been for. On his seventeenth birthday Ashren was initiated into a secret society that had operated in the shadows of Eorzea since the dawn of the Sixth Astral Era, an organization dedicated to both uncovering and keeping the secrets of the past, while simultaneously working behind the scenes to defend the realm from those who would threaten it, both beyond and within it's borders.
