Basic Info

Eji Kazuma [X’eji Tia] (pronounced Shee-gee, or just eegee kah-zoo-mah) (13th Sun of the 2nd Umbral Moon (Apr 12)) is an exiled seeker Miqo’te from a small Lynx tribe in Eastern Thanalan. He and his fraternal twin brother (X’inji) were born as the result of a union between a seeker Nuhn and a wandering keeper of the moon mother. As a young boy he was never interested in the tribal lifestyle and it drove him to seek out adventure and experience else-ware. Whether it be delving into the depths of Halatali looking for treasures or scrapping with the monsters and gladiators of the Pugilists Guild he was constantly finding his way into trouble all in the name of glory and riches. Plagued by constant curiosity Eji tends to leap from one trial to the next, always looking for whatever strikes him as the most enjoyable opportunity; regardless to what degree of trouble it might land him in.

Appearance & Personality

Eji is a visibly young male miqo'te and at first glance appears not much different from the average seeker. Although perhaps a bit tall--he appears to be just a bit under six fulms with a lightly tanned skin, and a lean muscular build. His facial features are rather youthful still as if they are just beginning to harden; save for a bit of dark brown scruff on his chin and a steely gaze. His eyes were sharp and uncommonly dark for a seeker, like hardened cobalt crystals with narrow vertical slits that didn't miss a thing. He has a thick head of dark chocolate brown hair that falls in a messy sort of way along the sides of his face, with just a few short strands sweeping across the front slightly obstructing his gaze. Over his left cheek he wears a faded cross, the scar just barely there but forever a reminder of where he came from and the heritage he can never escape.
Personality wise Eji tries to balance heavy influences from his emotions and goals; this can lead to him having a very hot-and-cold personality. While generally aloof and self-centered he can be easily influenced into acting/reacting positively if he feels there is something potential to gain; to what extent depends heavily on the current orientation of his goal/s. He can be somewhat shameless when it comes to getting what he’s after and isn’t really above turning on the charm (or at least attempting to). From many years of dealing with people directly on the streets of Ul’Dah he has developed a fairly strong poker-face and prides himself on his ability to read and deceive people as necessary.
At his core he embodies conflicting elements of intellect and impulse which rarely mix and generally tend to influence him entirely one way or the other. This makes him come off somewhat capricious and may make him seem difficult to read or anticipate. Deep down he is a moral person who believes in honesty, honour, loyalty and doing the ‘right’ thing—however he often goes against his moral feelings if he believes that it is necessary or will better suit his needs. Despite personal flaws and past regrets Eji holds a very high opinion of himself and can generally come off as arrogant, competitive and immature. He constantly attempts to suppress the more colorful parts of his personality--choosing to keep most people emotionally at a distance showing them a very different facade.

Biography

Childhood
Eji was born to a small tribe of lynx Miqo’te from Eastern Thanalan. He was born a mixed breed, from a rare union between a Seeker Nunh and a Keeper Mother whom the tribe had rescued from Qiqirn slave traders. He was born and named X’eji, the elder of fraternal twin boys along with his brother X’inji. Despite the mixed heritage he seemed to inherit mostly seeker traits, with the obvious exceptions being his very dark blue eyes and his more nocturnal lifestyle. He also had a slight aversion to hot weather, preferring not to venture out on hotter days; which made a desert lifestyle that much more difficult.
While mostly nomadic his tribe settled in the high cliffs between Highbridge and Halatali, often trading meat and pelts with merchants at the Highbridge markets. From a very young age Eji and his brother began to fancy the trinkets and treasures the merchants would offer and started to collect things as they could. It started with honest trading, and then quickly descended to theft. The twins would sneak away from tribal activities to visit the markets, each trying to out-do the other without being caught. It wasn’t long before the merchants put things together and started to chase the boys off whenever they would show up, but that just led them to find other outlets to satisfy their desires for treasure.
As the twins grew older their horizons expanded all around, before long more of the tribe’s youths were joining them on excursions and they were venturing days across the stretches of Eastern Thanalan. The promises of trinkets and treasures were quickly replaced by a desire for adventure and self-sufficiency and Eji spent many days with his brothers and sisters learning and roaming the land as if it was their own domain. No longer did they steal valuables, but now they took weapons, tools and supplies whatever they needed and could find to prevent having to return home for another day. Before long however, their actions caught the eye of the brass blades and the children were forced to return to the tribe for fear of arrest or worse.
Teenage Years
Shunning most tribal activities and shirking their duties; the twin’s sights were ever fixed on the glowing jewel of the desert. The boys had long since worn out their welcome within the local trading hubs, and could only imagine the treasures and adventures the city-state held. Despite their overwhelming interest, they had never dared venture to the great city for fear of the many Antlion colonies along the main road. Instead the boys watched the lights of the city from a far hoping to one day see Ul’Dah up close and capture some of its treasures for themselves.
Despite the interests the city held there were still many incredible places in the wilds they had yet to explore and those would have to do for now. Before long their adventures had brought them to the gates of Halatali; a famous training pit for the Eorzean Pugilists Guild and Ul’Dah’s Coliseum. X’eji had discovered small cave in the cliffs that led into the labyrinth and decided to explore it. Unsure of what he had found at first, the scenes of fighters honing their skills against any number of impressive creatures was exciting and new for him. Many of the creatures within the labyrinth were unlike anything he’d ever seen and the fighters fought with such fervor and techniques that were far more refined than anything he’d seen amongst his kinsman.
