GENERAL INFORMATION

Hayzell Darwall, otherwise known by her tribal birth name X'Rahna Lenn, is an Ala Mhigan practicing Light-sect Monk currently working with the Ishgardian Free Company 'Winters Wake'. Described by many as kind, caring and attentive, Hayzell holds the values of her family above all else and tries to remain peaceful and centered around friends. Oftentimes she will use her aether to diffuse potentially violent situations. She has few legitimate enemies, making genuine efforts to become friends with everyone she meets.

APPEARANCE

Hayzell sports a fit form, spending most of her life in physical training under Monk masters- and she dons a number of scars from injuries long past. She typically wears her hair past her shoulders, the top layer streaked with white and tied in a loose braid, and dons white markings around sky-blue eyes.
Aspects That Stand Out:
Despite her long-term physical training, she couldn't be described as bulky or 'ripped', only toned.
She has a number of noticeable circular puncture scars running around both wrists.
She tends to remain consitantly calm around others- especially friends in the Winters Wake. In private, however, the veil slips away.

PERSONALITY

L I K E S

Culture. Hayzell enjoys learning about other cultures very much. Her own adoptive homeland is ripe with it, and the arrival of the Doman and refugees and Xaelic warriors offered new things to learn. It is from this passion, and a serious relationship with one such individual, that she has come to learn to speak the Auri tongue with a high degree of fluidity.
Camaraderie Hayzell finds great pleasure in spending time among close family and friends- there is nothing better to her than a room full of laughing, merrymaking, and passionate care for ones friends, family, and brothers in arms.


D I S L I K E S

Control through Violence. Using violence to command respect or prove a point boils Hayzell's blood. She's of the mind that violence should be the last result measure. She becomes almost irrationally angry when she observes violence used to control others.

H O B B I E S

Meditation. Hayzell has spent much of her life learning meditative techniques. The meditation helps keep her centered and focused, and is key to her monk lifestyle.
Learning. Hayzell will take almost any opportunity to learn something new, and as such she's constantly finding new ways to improve herself and her way of life through reading, observing, meeting new people, and experiencing new situations.

S T R E N G T H S

Martial Arts. Hayzell has trained directly under a pair of Monk Masters who were lucky enough to survive the fall of Ala Mhigo, and as such has become extremely proficient in hand-to-hand and fist weapon combat, with particular specialization in combat endurance.
Familial Loyalty. Hayzell expresses unwavering loyalty to all members of both her adopted and tribal families. As such, she will defend them to the very end, even through the darkest of times.

W E A K N E S S E S

Stubborn Conviction. Hayzell was brought up following the strong moral and personal codes of her family and order, and as such comes into conflict with others surrounding these opinions more often than she would like.
Impulsive. Some consider Hayzell blinded by her faith, ideals, and visions of good and bad and doing the 'right' thing. As a result, she often acts without effectively thinking through what might result of her actions- doubly so when it comes to those closest to her.

M O T I V A T I O N S

Once more, with feeling Hayzell is endlessly motivated above all else by the safety of- you guessed it- her family. She fights to honor them, keep them safe, and make them proud, both tribal and adoptive.
Legacy. Hayzell witnessed the downfall of her home and the deaths of brave and powerful Monks in the defense of herself, her family, and her people. Now as a practicing Monk in possession of her masters Soul Crystal, she strives to become the best Monk she can be and see this once great order restored.

Braeke & Jennifer Darwall, Adoptive Parents. ( ) - Vigil Guardians
Character's Thoughts: "One of the luckiest parts of my life. They found me when I was lost, taking me in and treating me as though I were their own. I love them with all my being."
The Darwall couple came across Hayzell by chance, while she was very young and lost wandering the Black Shroud. Braeke is fond of telling this story in a terrible over-exaggerated way, describing a great shadowy beast of teeth and tentacles who was felled by a mighty roar from a 'Little Lion'. Jennifer referred to it as a scared, wild dog that was most likely about to run anyway. The Darwalls extended their stay in Gridania for an additional two weeks, trying everything they could to reunite this small girl with her family- to no avail. Hope for this goal lost, they decided to take the girl in. Unable to discern her name, they offered her one to refer to her in the meantime- Hayzell.

Throughout her life, the Darwalls have always treated Hayzell with the utmost respect and care they would their own child, Cordalia. They offered Hayzell the necessary freedoms, and punished her when needed. They've supported her through all decisions in life- her decision to walk the path of the Monk and her decision to strike out as an adventurer in her own right included. They have never slighted her unreasonably, and she as never seen reason to not trust them. Even to this day she'll return to them when she finds her life in shambles, and find their arms open to her.

X'Lenn Nunh & X'Roya Ohren, Birth Parents. ( ) - Lost Treasures
Character's Thoughts: " I see a lot of myself in both of them, despite having spent much of my life without them. Though we've only so recently reunited, I treat them with the same love and respect I would the Darwalls. Lenn is a bit... traditional, for my taste, but Roya is a noble and admirable woman."
The relationship between Hayzell and her birth parents is a short-lived one. Early in her life she became separated from her tribe, most probably through the dangers of childhood curiosity, where a mixture of luck and instinct saw her survive and subsequently be adopted by the Darwalls. Only recently was she able to return to her native tribe- Roya was proud of what a powerful and capable woman she had become, and Lenn seemed content that she had survived (if a little disappointed that she wasn't going to bare any of his grandchildren for the foreseeable future). Hayzell found herself getting along suitably with the other members of her tribe, though she takes care to tread carefully around her other, less friendly brother, Kann.

V'layya Rhiki, Partner. ( ) - My Rose
Character's Thoughts: " Nothing short of a blessing, delivered to me when I needed her most. My Rose, without whom I would now be in a dark, dark place. She offers me all the support and care I could ever ask of her."
Hayzell and V'layya met by chance, while Hayzell was suffering from a temporary blindness. Hayzell fell for the woman quickly, thanks in part to the sudden abandonment by her previous partner, but the desperation for companionship quickly turned into real feeling. They spent their first day together, sitting on a bench and chatting, and Hayzell called her back the following day to see her again (so to speak).

As time went on, the relationship progressed- the first night they spent the night in each others' homes, the first time Hayzell could ever see V'layya, and then first kiss they shared. Now the pair spend many of their waking hours in each others' company, they are quick to jump to each others defense, and hold a strong policy of no secrets held between them.

OOC INFORMATION

Player Note
I am a lady from Canada who has a severe case of alt-itis. I also play Jazira Na'mirai, W'rania Yahn, Hayato Shirogane, Raralia Ralia, and Tarian Nerys. I typically stick to NA evening and weekend hours for RP and content.
Personal RP Limits
I typically play characters with complex and interesting backgrounds, and I have no issues with having my characters be injured, traumatized or otherwise, as I believe this makes them more 'real' and in fact easier to play because they develop precepts and behaviours related to those events.
I will play I will generally play good or neutral aligned characters, at first anyway. I will not set out to make my characters evil, but if, for example, they experience events that could cause a traumatic/psychotic break, I will at least consider the possibility and work through it that way.
I won't play I will not play 'muahahaha lookit me I'm edgy and evil' type characters, as I find them flat and unimaginative, and they tend to peter out and become obsolete without direction.
Disclaimer
This character does engage in intimate relationships, but I personally will not RP that kind of thing with someone I am not already familiar with on an OOC level. Sorry!
I will not RP any sort of personal assault or violent acts outside of typical combat. I will discuss OOC events and write a results 'montage' in order to react to it appropriately

CHARACTER TIDBITS

Potential Plot Hooks
Syra is typically in Limsa Lominsa, either watching the market district, working at the Drowning Wench, or generally walking the length between the Coral Tower and the Aftcastle. When she is not there, she can be found in the Brume or the Crozier in Ishgard, usually gathering information by people watching and 'making friends'. She's fairly easy to approach and strike up a conversation with. Barring those two locations, she also frequents the various wards of the Lavender Beds and occasionally the various areas of La Noscea.
Due to past events, Syra has an unusually vitriolic hatred of pirates. Involve her in any anti-piracy plotlines you like!
I will gladly get in on plotlines that involve recon/intel gathering and scouting missions where there is not a lot of combat expected.


Character Lore Adherence
I stick to current lore as close as humanly possible, to the point where I will not use the 'Job' classes for my characters. Syra is not a ninja, she is definitively a rogue with no Doman training. I limit her to 'human' levels of aether use and abuse, and she suffers traditional consequences for over-exertion. As far as healing goes, I will RP magical healing as approximately halving traditional healing time.
