APPEARANCE

Appearance: Kissed by the snows of Ishgard since birth, a body molded and blessed by the fury of the blizzard. His hair as black as the void that touches Eorzea, lightly aging with the freezing winds. His eyes were like that of a wolf’s in every sense of the name. Gray like it’s majestic fur, while sharp like a wolf’s. Tall and built strong, his slightly above toned body with strict training helped his body endure even the coldest winters. Draped in thick plate and armor, seemingly almost melting off of him. The robe and plate makes him a rather frightening figure with his helmet on. Though when he is without a helmet, he usually adorns a pair of reading glasses due to his poor vision. Although without his helmet, anyone that lays on him would agree he was a very charismatic male. With his charisma, people would find him fairly convincing and possess an interesting leadership.

DEMEANOR

There is seemingly an endless amount of reasons to describe how Kay is the least welcoming person for first impressions. Seemingly there is an aura or a thick mist of something foul lingering about him. Not in the sense of smell, but in the sense of overall uneasiness. If managed, to approach him, those would hear an awfully haunting and eerie tune of humming. Some would wonder if it was him humming, or coming from somewhere. Though people can hear it clearly, those who focus can’t see any form of lip, mouth, or even throat movement coming from Kay. While there are all these strange walls that prevent him from being approachable, he’s overall a very calm and kind person to speak with.

Kay, the son of Isghard

As early as his memory can recall, he would only remember staring into the blizzard through the cold glass of his room in his castle in Ishgard. Locked away from the world, and forced to watch the outside world in a room filled with cotton and plush. He was a child to a very rich and powerful noblewoman, the only problem was he was a half breed. Though he was still completely Elezen, his mother, well is an Ishgardian, and his father a Duskwight hunter. How the two met was more of a childhood story than an actual encounter.

A woman stumbled and fell after her party of guards fell to the beast within the deep woods of Ishgard. A Duskwight man who travelled very far from home would save her. The two would wander together until they reached the capital of Ishgard, sharing many nights together prior to her safe return. Though she was a rich Noblewoman, she could not be seen with a lowly Duskwight, she had to banish the man from the capital. Though she would soon give birth to Kay, if anyone knew she gave birth to a bastard and a half Duskwight at that, her reputation would be completely ruined. Hiding Kay from the world, she locked him in his room for all of his life, though she wasn’t a heartless mother, she just couldn’t be seen with him.

Kay rarely ever saw his mother, only the handmaidens that would tend to him growing up. Rarely had the busy woman ever had time to see her own child, though she loved him dearly, she could never show it, or had time to show it. Every night she would lay and sit with him in the late of night, long after he had fallen asleep. Kay rarely ever saw his mother, or left his room, he would have forgotten what her face looked like. Although Kay did spend most of his childhood growing up in this room, he was still able to meet with his father, although rarely.

Kay and his father had a very strange way of meeting up. The window that Kay love to stare out so much would change from the beautiful blizzard to a face of a man he’s never seen before. Instead of being scared or frightened, he only looked at the man and smiled softly. He knew, he had some kind of emotional connection with the Elezen hanging from his window and he was right. Since that day, from time to time, his father would “kidnap” Kay from his prison and taken out to explore the world that was closed off from him. There Kay learned about the world, he learned to hunt, to fight, to live, to endure. He tasted the forbidden fruit of being happiness, and he wanted more of it. Although the time he spent with his father was short, usually two to three days before the private guard of his house would come to recover him. His father made a promise with him to meet up with him again, and it became a ritual that occurred rarely. After meeting with his father for about six times, and hitting the age of thirteen, his father asked him a question that took no thought to answer. “Do you want to come live with me instead?” Replying with a ‘Yes’, the two would spend a year together wandering through Eorzea. Seeing the scorching sands of Thanalan, the peaceful and calm woods of the Shroud, and finally the raging oceans of La Noscea. Reaching La Noscea was the ending of their trip.

He noticed his father looked more and more pale by the day, something rare for even an Elezen. His father reached down and held his shoulders, offering him a pocket of gil and a new motivation to push on. He was simply told this is his home now, and now he has must learn how to live on his own. Kay acknowledge this, embraced his father one last time, and never saw him again after that day. There he lived among pirates and became a marauder to sustain himself. His first job was to pick up an axe and to make firewood, from there it became mercenary work, and everything else would just follow the patterns of the star.

Cursed One

We all know that several umbral eras ago, Elezens were great mages who used and abused the power of the void to cast powerful and destructive magic upon their enemies. The Elezens made great and tragic sacrifices to obtain such powers. Kay, being a direct descendant to one of the greedy Elezen man who sought power above all else. He made a contract with a Voidsent that would doom his family line forever. The Voidsent made a simple request, to be branded onto the Elezen, to invade the Elezen and in exchange grant him great power. A deal too sweet to give up, he took it without hesitation. As the Voidsent enter the man through his aether, he became a host for it. The catch from the rather mischievous voidsent was simple also, that as soon as a child from this bloodline was conceived it would abandon the current host and move on to the soon to be male child.

The Voidsent Curse was rather simple and not much of a hinderance, except for the after effect. It possess the male and more or less makes their main obligation to find a fitting partner to reproduce with. As soon as a child is conceived it moves on, and it’s done this for several umbral eras. After the male carrying the Voidsent is deemed useless, he usually ends up with a rather tragic ending. Let it be a fatal accident, or a curse of weakness that would slowly drain the man until he can no longer fight back and be consumed it. On top of that, after the Voidsent leaves the host, he has no need to see his partner anymore, or care to see the child. He just flees in fear or unwillingly.

Through the umbral and astral eras the Voidsent and the curse had become weaker due to how Elezens naturally moved on and away from their wands and staff and to more iron and studier weapons. Not really using and relying heavily on their Aether, the curse can’t be as strong of an influence onto the males with this curse. In fact, later on the family lines, the males were able to actually settle down and start a family and love their wife and child without any restriction. Though those who actually use their Aethers are more likely to suffer the side effect of the curse. Usually a shorter life expectancy, or a curse of weakness that makes the male live a much shorter life than they should.
