A P P E A R A N C E

Kuina stands at a fairly average height for a female Au Ra, which isn't very tall in the grand scheme of things. This combined with her slender frame and fair complexion gives her an subtly elegant air. Her muscles aren't very prominent, due to the lack of performing manual labor for much of her life and are something she wishes she had a bit more of. The hair on her head is a vibrant shade of magenta and rests on her shoulders, sporting a gentle wave near the ends.

Her wardrobe shows influence from both Doman and Gridanian styles most commonly, leaning towards a simple is better approach. She seems to gravitate towards comfortable, cost-effective fabrics with basic designs and little to no jewelry; though this seems to be more out of necessity than preference.

B A C K G R O U N D

Born to a commoner family in Doma, Kuina's life started out quiet and simple. Her family lived in a quiet part of town, making ends meet without much fuss. The Garlean Empire was a constant presence though wasn't something she feared much while young. She spent her days playing with the other neighbors' children, and helping her mother tend to the house and her younger siblings as the family grew. As she reached adulthood, plans were made for Kuina to be apprenticed to a nearby seamstress to learn a trade to support herself.

This relative peace lasted for a time until the Doman Resistance struck at the Empire and failed. Kuina was lucky enough to make it to a ship, but the vessel was unable to reach Eorzea in a single piece. A boat of fisherman found the Raen drifting at sea and brought her safely to land though her family and friends were nowhere to be found. She was under medical supervision in Mor Dhona for a time, where many of the other refugees had also been relocated. Heartbroken for some moons, she remained there unsure of what to do. The Garlean threat followed her to this new land as well. These people were kind enough to let the refugees stay on their land, even as began to rise and danger was on the horizon. Eventually she decided that she would help them fight, attempting to make Eorzea a safer place since she could no longer save her own.

Most recently, Kuina has often been found in Gridania and the surrounding areas. She has begun study in the field of conjury. Her previous Doman life she speaks little of, as she still finds the wounds a bit too fresh. Instead she focuses on improving her martial and healing skills to help those who need it.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

The first thing someone might notice about the Raen is her positive outlook on life. Even in the darkest depths, she tries her best to focus on the silver lining whenever possible. This might cause some to call her naive, which is truer than she would like to admit. Kuina is very much a fish out of water in Eorzea and it shows. Everything from the incredible to the mundane can catch her curiosity in this unfamiliar region. She is eager to learn and is incredibly inquisitive when something piques her interest.

While Kuina is on the reserved side during most social interactions, by no means is she a complete wallflower. She attempts to avoid stepping on others toes when possible but can become quite passionate about subjects that she holds dear or in defense of others. Though small in stature she will stand up for others who appear to need it. Aggression is something she tries to avoid. Kuina prefers to remain calm and keep her mellow demeanor instead. After losing her homeland, however, offensive behavior seems to be something she is willing to do more frequently when the situation arises.
