Pertinent Information ■ Nicknames: the Sand Viper, the Blackguard. ■ Race (Clan): Miqo'te (Seeker of the Sun). ■ Gender: Male. ■ Age: 29. ■ Height/Weight: 5 fulms, 11 ilm / 190 ponze. ■ Marital Status: Unmarried. Background WIP Service Record Not much is known about Leon before he arrived in Ul'dah as a young boy. He unofficially joined the Immortal Flames when he was 11 years old after proving his affinity with the blade. In the years to follow he would take part in numerous skirmishes and battles. Where he shone was apparent: Unilateral vocational shifting of VIP targets, with extreme prejudice. Below is a select list of notable battles of which Leon took part. Each entry has a common script note, some partially redacted. ■ Battle of Silvertear Skies: Leon was a foot soldier during the XIVth Imperial Legion incursion. Following the destruction of the Agrius, what remained of Leon's platoon merged with the Free Brigade and redoubled the efforts of expelling the Legion from the region. 'Private Dyce shows promise. Unusually skilled swordsman.' ■ First Summoning of Ifrit: During the Amalj'aa invasion, Leon was single handedly responsible for routing a particularly devious Amalj'aa squad intending to strike behind the Flame's lines at the civilian populace. Flame Private Leon was honored for his bravery publicly. The record reflects a morbose note: 'Amalj'aa were dismembered and brutalized.' ■ Assault on Castrum Novum: Leon was put into a small group of infiltration specialists that saw to the destruction of the Garlean fortress and its lunar transmitter. During the battle his squad's cover was blown. It is stated that Leon and his battle Chocobo Rios protected his squad from several detachments of Legion soldiers. The record states: 'Gifted individual. Singlehandedly defended our sapper squad, and two other VIPs. Recommendation - Bloodsworn.' ■ Battle of Carteneau: Flame Sergeant Leon survived the Battle of Carteneau. He remained AWOL for two years to follow. 'Dyce claims this as recovery time for injuries sustained.' Several lines of information from this section was redacted from record. ■ Operation Archon: Leon led a small squad into Castrum Meridanium prior to the main Flame Regiment's push, in order to infiltrate and undermine the command structure, which ultimately assisted in the seizure of the Praetorium. The record states: 'Infiltration units remained undetected. Key target personnel eliminated with Flame Lieutenant Dyce paving the way.' ■ Battle of Ishgard: Sent in a detachment of the Immortal Flames Free Brigade, Leon was ultimately only utilized in a few key operations on the Ishgardian Front. The scribbled note mentions 'He welcomed assisting the Ishgardians, and took command in several joint operations.' ■ Baelsar's Wall; The Siege of Castrum Oriens: As a part of the vanguard force assaulting the wall, Leon was of the first wave of Immortal Flames Free Brigade squads. In a veritable 'kill squad', Leon's squad (The Blackguard) punched a hole through the Imperial defenses. The Vanguard forces pushed forward to Castrum Oriens, providing mounted support for the forward teams. Soon after the freeing of Ala Mhigo, Leon rose to the prestigious rank of Bloodsworn for his pivotal roles in the Offensive, reforging ties with the Ala Mhigan Resistance, and providing specialized training for the Ala Mhigan forces. A more formal message follows the synopsis: 'Flame Lieutenant Leon Dyce showed incredible leadership and composure throughout the campaign. With great ferocity and domineering fortitude he crushed the imperial forces under his boot heel, driving terror into their hearts, followed by cold steel.' Leon is a calm, thoughtful, and sterrn person on first impression. He believes in purpose and duty. He sticks to a routine, physical and mental, to maintain personal balance. Even though he struggles with PTSD, it mainly affects him socially by his aversion to large crowds. He will often offer his assistance to those in need, should they be genuine. He tends to refrain from approaching people directly. He does not mind others approaching him and speaking casually. Due to his experiences and past, he naturally expects the worst from people. He welcomes this expectation to be proven wrong. He's often found gazing off into the distance, in deep thought. Just as often as he can be found in meditation, or practicing his Iaido. Likes ■ Combat Analyst. One of the few things he can take pride in, Leon respects and observes fighting styles as an art form. ■ Observing Mannerisms. Leon likes to observe others and their quirks, finding amusement along the way. ■ Experiencing the Now. What if the right course of action was to pause and take in the beauty of the world? Feel the Aether ebb and flow, the wind of life whipping through your being. Never is there an imperfect moment, in this world of imperfection. Dislikes ■ Intrusiveness. Leon dislikes people asking questions and prying about topics they know nothing of. ■ Overbearing Tribal Miqo'te. As an orphaned child, Leon knows little of Tribe life. He has heard horror stories of those abusing power, and has formed his opinion on the 'loud ones' from conjecture. ■ Crowded Venues. Leon tends to get anxious when walking into large crowds. His PTSD triggers ever so slightly, with tendencies for Leon to start noting available exits and vantage points, sometimes expecting an ambush or double-cross. Quirks ■ PTSD. War never leaves you. Leon suffers from an unreported case of PTSD. It is not uncommon for him to have violent triggers which have caused injuries to himself and loved ones in the past. ■ Honorbound. Leon has a very specific code of honor, mirroring many parts of the real world Bushido. ■ Solitary Lifestyle. Due to the unreported volatile nature of his PTSD, Leon normally avoids other people. Unless on mission or gathering intel, Leon keeps his conversing to a minimum. Appearance Height: 5'10 (179cm) Build: Shredded, Rugged Eye Color: Light Jade Hair Color: Soot Black, with Gray Markings Due to past injuries, Leon's skin is a canvas of scar tissue. This scarring ranges in injury type and severity, whether they're from blades, spears, knives, and various other projectiles. You will find it difficult to see clear patches of unscathed skin. Though most of his face remains unscathed, (with the exception of lesser burns & scar tissue) Leon would be considered a Burn Unit's worst nightmare. With closer inspection, the oldest of burn wounds would be the most apparent. This burn wound, known privately as his "Thorn Mail", is noticeable as a complete set of plate mail that was effectively fused to his skin, and subsequently removed. The most noticeable burn symbols of which are the Immortal Flames scales seared onto his left shoulder. His chest was forcefully imprinted with a disfigured, melted, yet jagged angel with wings. While he is a prime physical specimen, his muscle structure is mildy to oddly misshapen due to past traumas. He has an unusual tattoo on the nape of his neck. Leon has a very calm and learned demeanor earned from years of experience and travel.
