History/Timeline

Merri grew up in a Keeper of the Moon clan in the South Shroud and was taught her clan's style of the short bow from a young age. Once she reached maturity though she began seeking the company of females in her tribe rather than male and the clan's matrons began to feel concerned but did nothing, hoping it was just a passing fancy. However she was discovered being intimate with another female and was brought before the matrons the next morning. They tried to explain to her that she needed to take a male mate in order to continue to support her clan but Merri refused saying that while she had nothing against males she still preferred females. Hoping to push her from this path her elders gave her the option of taking a male mate and staying with the clan or be exiled to find her own path, but to their surprise she chose to leave with only a few supplies and a bow. During her time out in the wilds she got caught up in the destruction of the Calamity.

Merri did not remember much of her life prior to the Calamity due to suffering a head injury which put her into a 2 week coma, however what happen after the Calamity was documented by the group which found her. After the Battle of Carteneau Merri was found unconscious and terribly wounded in the Black Shroud not far from one of the large aetheric crystal spires created by the assault of Bahamut by a group of Gridianian medics. She was taken back to the city proper and looked after until the time that she miraculously woke up. Unfortunately her memory was spotty at best and could at first remember only her name. After some rehabilitation she was deemed fit for release into the public and began wandering about trying to piece together the misty fragments of her life.

Since then she had remembered more of her past but still could not recall who her clan was or where they might be. However a chance meeting at the Sanctum of the Twelve let Merri make a friendship with another Keeper of the Moon named Kiht Jakkya whom took it upon herself to locate Merri's lost clan. After a few weeks Kiht was successful and relayed what she had learned to Merri when the two next met in Gridania. The revelation triggered more of Merri's memories to return and not long after she made a visit to her clan who now resides near Rootslake in the South Shroud.

Deeply sorry for their treatment of her in the past, the Mistdancer Clan accepted Merri back regardless of her orientation and set her up as the new matron of her family which had been reduced to just her and her elder brother Yabi'a whom had been crippled trying to save their mother. Now bearing the trappings of Matronhood, Merri continues on.
