Latest Activities (RP Hook): Doing bard things, sapping people of aether, the usual.
Altaniod6.png
Overview

A woman whose regal spirit devoutly rebels against the shadows of war and chaos, this Au Ra uses both guile and inner power to outwit the malevolent forces of darkness which threaten her impending Eden.

Strengths

  • Silent Night, Deadly Night - (Stealth)
Ari is well-educated in the art of stealth, employing this advantage for infiltration, ambush, and to avoid unnecessary combat entirely. She can move over a variety of terrain silently and quickly (including through water) rendering her auditorily invisible in most conditions.

  • Do You Believe in Magic? - (Blue Mage)
Ari was never able to understand the concept of magick. Black, White, Red, it was all a bunch of nonsense to her. Why did people spend endless hours poring over dusty records and practicing skills that could be cast from a simple tactile base? Her way of manifesting aether had never been learned in a class troupe, and could not be studied in a library. Her signatures are blank slates, to be written upon and wiped clean at her whim. The Xaela has but to touch the user of the magick she wishes to utilize, and the patterns of their spellwork automatically store themselves in her energy for her to employ them. The downside? She uses their aether to do it, sapping it like a tap drains sap from a tree. Don't let her touch you!

Weaknesses

  • One Second, Please - (vs. Exhaustion)
Mosaris is a very small individual who is not built for extended feats of labor. A scrappy sort fond of quickly-ending bouts, she has a great deal of trouble staying in the fight for too long if it comes to heavy exertions.

  • My Brain is Melting - (vs. Migraines)
The draining of another's aether is not without its limits or repercussions. Doing this too much tends to have the consequence of giving the Xaela an unpleasant headache that can occasionally form into something more debilitating. She has to be careful with herself, and of course, of the host bodies she samples from.

Utility

  • And My Harp - (Bard)
Oh, dear gods, another battle bard to plague the front lines with lilting tunes while the real soldiers do all the work. Figures! At least this one uses fresh music. She spends a lot of time composing her songs, learning precisely the right notes to strike to entice aetherial reactions. Okay, so she's kind've like a.. battle-mage-bard. What?

Appearance
Altaniod2.png

"Small and early from birth 'til death." That was the phrase oft uttered in exasperated humor, following the punctual young woman through girlhood. To name her intimidating would be a disservice to the term - she was everything but. Standing a hand-span shorter than most (and sometimes smaller still), this diminutive denizen of the Eastern reaches cut an unimposing figure of sylphine grace and fit health. Femininity gave her roundness of breast and hip at odds with her evident activity, smooth and buxom curves standing defiantly atop lithe muscle that saw much use - this was no timid girl meant only to warm a hearth, but she 'did' need to learn how to stay away from sweet things, lest the little cushion become excessive.

A visiting songster had once mentioned her presence as "striking", her natural palette monochrome laced with splashes of vibrant color. The snows of the highest peaks were reflected in her flesh, dyed with the hue of freshly fallen powder, fair and pale. What subverted that natural beauty was the girl's penchant for adventure and all that entailed: often to be found with patches of red on that porcelain canvas where the sun touched her for long intervals, never tanning yet easily crisping with sunburn. Scales of pitch made sharp angles in suggestion of winged things. They were glossy with a healthy polish, her tail's respectable spade tip adding continuity to the horns on either side of her head, twins of tri-spired glory. Oftentimes, Ari lined her scales with metallic paint in the same manner a noblewoman might make up her face, whimsical and elegant both.
Atop her head, hair spun of midnight satin hung in feathered layers just past her shoulders save for the braid at her nape which had never been cut that fell to her calves, bound securely and interspersed with colorful wooden beads. Valuing efficiency hand-in-hand with fashion, her clothing fit nicely and the leather was worked to precise measurements that did not inhibit movement or activity. Her delight in exotic dyes was apparent in bright bursts of color that occasionally marked otherwise normal shades of hide and cloth.

At odds with her charm was her stare. Abyssal sclera framed gemstone-bright irises in darkness, making this Xaela's piercing, heterochromatic gaze all the more sharply notable. The hue of one eye was borrowed from a slab of sea green crystal, soft green flecked with spots both darker and lighter than its base shade; the other was touched with winter's kiss, a cobalt blue dusted with ice that carried shards of silver-white in its cool depths. Most times, her expressions were politely curious - but uncomfortable in that she rarely (if ever) seemed to blink. Hers was not a comfortable stare, always too sharp, too calculating, as if she would discover the secrets of one's thoughts through the simple act of a gaze that lasted a shade too long for propriety. This one had an analytical mind behind that front of charismatic charm and affable smiles, the warmth of which so rarely touched those glacial eyes.

Personality

"Of course I 'get out' once in a while! What self-respecting daughter of destiny doesn't take a moment now and again to really appreciate the subtle joys of sitting on the shoulders of our Elezen compatriots?"

Not the ideal traits that come to the traditional clansman's mind when he thinks of his daughter, Ari is certainly bull-headed and set in her ways. Her spirit is adventurous with youthful rebellion against the strict adherence to tradition drilled into her very bones. Fortunately, age has polished the dissent in her heart, but she has never lost that free-spirited charm; to hear her speak would be to find the tried and true traditions of old blended seamlessly with the efficiencies of the new. She is an old soul proud of her tribe and her craft. This has been the cause of some disagreement when her outspoken thoughts meet with misaligned opinions - the little spitfire is mulish to the last. At least she is affable enough and as quick as she is to butt heads or stand up for herself, she's just as quick to apologize when she is indeed in the wrong. With an indomitably positive attitude, there is silver lining every cloud in this girl's mind. On those rare cases someone does manage to pierce her veil of gilt joy, they can expect as much passion in anger as in delight.

Ari is the first to the side of those who require aid or assistance, and pays particular attention to those younger or weaker than herself, courageous to an occasionally self-endangering fault. Still, patience often wins out over excitement, though she is quick to rile both positively and negatively, fiery and luminous in disposition. Conversation with this individual is animated an inundated with a perhaps unexpected abundance of articulate thought. As much as she would wish others to view her as the vivacious young scamp, there is always that hint of something hidden behind eyes too wise, and too ambitious, for her age. She knows what she wants out of life, and strives to achieve her goals unerringly, sometimes too ardently.

OOC Information

Roleplay Style

• Amount of RP - Heavy, heavy, heavy! I love to RP often. My style is empathetic/malleable with paragraph tendencies, though I do know how to stay succinct in larger crowds.

• Goals and RP Restrictions - I want a story. Not just a little thing, but an actual story with many facets and more personalities! Something to remember fondly when it's over, and maybe even to build on as time goes on. There aren't really many elements I find disfavor with, though I will say that ERP with underage individuals (toon or player) is a definite no-no. Respect the law, yo.

• Views on RP Combat and Injuries - I enjoy combat when it is done with individuals who are mature and trustworthy enough to make it fun. Communication is top priority when it comes to any sort of interaction, but especially when taken to the fight scene. The only thing I am not looking to do is have my character outright killed; that being said, sustaining injuries on any side of the spectrum is not only accepted, it is expected! I don't want her pretty forever.

• Views on IC Romance - With the boundaries between IC and OOC in mind, romance is always great for a story as long as the characters mesh well, and it makes sense with said story. Communication between players is the single most important aspect of it to me. (And please keep in mind that I am happily taken in real life, so I am not seeking to make an IC romance turn OOC!

• Views on Non-Romantic RP - Absolutely positive in my opinions on this front as far as social association is concerned. There is much potential for non-romantic relationships to have been formed with Ari, from friendships to rivalries and everything in between! Outside of Auri relations, she is always looking for more Eorzean citizens to acquaint herself with. Hit me up if you'd like to chat about involvement in my story, and vice versa!

• Views on Lore - It's always important to follow the lore in whatever meta you find yourself in, if for no other reason than to add continuity to the immersion - while keeping in mind that creativity is ultimately what we are here to express. Personally, I adhere to standards as much as possible while making reasonable deviations/headcanons where I can!

• Views on Chat Functions -
/say: Ari's engagement in IC dialogue.
/emote: Actions, thoughts, and speech describing Ari's experiences in an IC capacity.
/linkshell: OOC Networking.
/party: OOC banter.
/tell: Communication channel for OOC chatting/planning and private channel for IC whispering.
/shout: OOC for now!
/yell: Also OOC for now.
/freecompany: Communication OOCly with the members of the Midnight Pearl!
