Anzu is a short young female Miqo'te. She has brown, tanned skin of many days in the sun - her right arm and torso are tattooed in a tribal fashion. Her hair is dark brown, slightly wavy in the edges, it reaches her shoulders and a little bit beyond and she keeps bangs on her forehead. Her eyes are bright, piercing green, with the usual Seeker pupils, mischievous. She has strong eyebrows and Miqo'te natural markings on her cheeks and forehead. Her nose is pointy, her mouth is small. She smiles often. Her petite physique is toned as you would expect of an athlete and fighter, but she does not let her muscles develop much. She has perky, small breasts, small shoulders, a defined waistline and a stout, curvy rear, followed by plump thighs. Her tail is long and fluffy.

She has long nails, often painted in a dark brown colour. She keeps them trimmed. Her fur aside, she has no body hair and smells of perfume - something that smells a lot like cinnamon. She wears a cross-tied shirt, painted beige, small shorts to match. Two belts of different color garnish the outfit, possessing a brown scarf tied to them that flows when she's walking or riding. She puts on a long, over the knee layered pair of boots made out of leather, leaving only part of her thighs exposed. On her arms, she uses bracelets and armlets. A fang necklace adorns her neck. Whenever she's not running, she uses a rag cap, tied next to her ears.

H I S T O R Y

N'anzu Aziq was born in the Sagolii Desert, in the Aldgoat tribe, located in the desert southeast - in mountainous rocky landscapes. The tribe is famous for its aldgoat herds, who yield some of the best meat and milk, very appreciated by the Ul'dahn nobility. Anzu's father was N'aziq Nunh, a very stern and traditionalist man, known in every local tribe as a shaman - his mastery in a type of conjury guided his tribe and repelled its enemies. Her mother, N'yelisha Akir, was a herder and a talented musician. Anzu was the third child the couple gave birth, twin of a boy born shortly before her, named N'unza Tia. She would share a special connection to her sibling during her youth, and the two were always together.

While Unza showed more talent towards their mother's art, with an always calm demeanor and outstanding dexterity, Anzu became her father's best disciple. Fast and deadly, she learned her father's hand signs in communion with the elementals and a deep skill with knives, becoming a proud hunter. Aziq, however, expected to see his only son become Nunh of the tribe and continue his lineage, and his shepherdry and song could not help him with such. Irritated, the father nurtured indifference for his son, which hurt him deeply. In his seventeenth birthday, not enduring his sire's disapproval anymore, Unza impulsively challenged N'ishak Nunh - a man whom Anzu always had feelings for - and they clashed in a bloody battle watched by the tribe and a horrified Anzu.

For Aziq's and Unza's despair, Ishak won without much difficulty. He was an excellent spearman whose prowess had let him carry the title of Nunh for ten years, but his flared temper and hunger for glory, specially if it came by dishonoring Aziq, wouldn't let him just savor an easy defeat - he wanted Unza dead. Anzu wouldn't have it, and defying all tradition, she stepped into the ring of battle between fighters, trying to convince Ishak to just let her brother go. No matter how much she felt attracted to him, letting her brother die at his hands was out of question. Aziq yelled at her to leave them be, but how could she? She had always complied to all the rules, yet her most loved was in danger. If he died, she would, too.

Enraged by the meddling female, Ishak attacked, and Anzu fought him. The elementals heard her prayers, her dagger steel and bone clashed against Ishak's lance. She was weaker physically, but much faster and much more dexterous. Defending herself like the Fury, Anzu's defiance stabbed her weapons into her opponent's ribcage as he fell from an attack - and there, all smiles were gone. Aziq ordered all the conjurers to take Ishak into a tent for his attempted healing. Anzu and her brother were left behind, ashamed, under a crowd of judgemental eyes. No matter how much Aziq tried - and to this day rumours say he didn't try much, Ishak died leaving his young children fatherless and the tribe with one less Nunh.

The leadership of the tribe took Anzu prisoner, and after three days of deliberation, Aziq and the others decided to exile her. She looked around - her brother was nowhere to be seen, although her instincts and her father assured her he was alive. Heartbroken but adamant with traditions to the end, the old Aziq left her possessions and some trading goods with his daughter and wished her good luck. Tribeless, homeless and equally devastated, without anyone she knew, Anzu roamed the desert towards Ul'dah in order to find a new purpose to her life.

The entire city was an unknown world to her. She was seventeen years old, a beautiful woman in bloom from the exotic sands, and like many before her the first job she was suggested lied in courtesan ranks or something lower - selling her body in order not to live in the Pearl Lane. She had never mated with a man and she just couldn't do anything like that to survive. Anzu worked as a waitress in the Platinum Mirage, renting herself a room at the Hourglass. Wealthy and important, some of the men and their minions tried to coerce her to become their mistresses. Not used to be rejected, a Hyur Midlander hired a Brass Blade to intimidate her.

Revealing her daggers and enviable skill, the fury again taking hold of her and she fought the corrupt Brass Blade and a few of his colleagues, again leaving a trail of blood and guts behind - and attracting reinforcements and witnesses who detained her. Injusticed, she was judged particularly fast by Ul'dahn standards and sent to the Marasaja Pits. She refused to fight in the Coliseum, way too depressed with the way her skills brough her certain doom and thus refusing to kill anyone else. Faithless, she was ready to die in captivity until a certain envoy of a rich chocobo breeder paid her an inexpressive amount to race on one of his old birds in a race since his usual jockey was sick. The money would then be used to buy her own freedom, and since racing required no kills, she accepted.

Mostly due to begginer's luck, the race's weather changed drastically in the middle of the turf, and using some of the items and her own bird's abilities, she was able to take the old chocobo to victory - and such oddity in a world of odds inspired her employee to raise her pay if she agreed to keep running. She was given a young, barely trained bird called Sprinter Boy and started a series of races from the bottom - Sprinter Boy didn't have many abilities and was very skittish at the start, but both jockey and mount could understand each other at time for a phenomenal streak of five wins in that year's championship. Anzu adopted the surname "Shikhu" as her public name in order to hide her criminal background and her father's memories and paid for her freedom.

She finally met her employee in person by the second year Sprinter Boy achieved a place in the podium - and significative amounts of money in the wager market. She was an old Elezen from Gridania with a rich web of contacts in the Bentbranch Meadows stables and even richer pockets, Lady Èponine Lefevre. Lefevre got rich breeding top-class chocobos and reselling them; most would say she knew more about the bird's genes than the chocobos themselves. She placed Anzu in a jockey training class and gave her an apartment at the Carline Canopy in exchange for her exclusivity - Anzu would only ride her birds and at her beck and call. The Miqo'te girl learned a lot while living there, and two years later she could race in the Ul'dah's Sagolii Maiden Class and also Costa del Sol's races.

Her name became known by the Races fans and now, five years since she first stepped into the Jewel of the Desert, N'anzu "the Zu" Shikhu it a quite formidable racer with a broad selection of birds and a house dedicated to the bird's training, located in the Mist wards. She sells her image for advertisement as a true sportswoman, and intends to keep living the racing life in gratitude to Lafevre.
