Natsumi Yatsurugi (20th Sun 6th Umbral Moon (Dec 20)) is a Hyur from Doma, who since a young age, learned to use martial weaponry. With a miraculous link to Ishgard, her family fled to Ishgard, only for the her father and mother be falsely accused as heretics due to being associated with the first wave of Au Ra refugees fleeing to Ishgard. Natsumi continued to flee further into Gridania. Since then, Natsumi had learned along the way the ability to use a greatsword. She decided to become an adventurer, and met Ayla Thatcher, her now current roommate, often adventuring with the young bard. Since then, she still sleeps on Ayla's couch while adventuring with her friend Ayla-- all the while acting like she was a charming rogue.

She still awaits her other siblings who still reside in the Far East, wondering if they'll ever arrive to Eorzea or stay safe in Doma.

Appearance & Personality

Natsumi stood surprisingly tall for her stature. Her black hair often took many forms, but a common theme she kept was long hair. Beneath the armor or clothes she wore, Natsumi was admittedly curvaceous. Knowing this fact, Natsumi wasn't afraid to show it off or flaunt it, often using it as part of a way to flirt with other women who displayed any interest. Even then-- beneath the curves was a lean, dexterous body that was built to charge headfirst into the fray. On her face was a scar on her nose-- freshly made from a slash. Either way, Natsumi tried her best, despite being possibly reckless and carefree, to take care of her personal appearance.

More often than not, Natsumi always wore a grin or a smirk. Despite the plight of a refugee, Natsumi was granted kind friends and helpful people, which allowed Natsumi to channel the personality that she lovingly calls 'a charming rogue.' Either as a way to repay what she received, or because she held onto a form of motivation to stay determined, Natsumi displayed kindness-- if she wasn't attempting to flirt or 'charm' someone into a bedroom. Either way, Natsumi has regarded everyone with a smile or a smirk-- or just often attempted to try to use her feminine wiles on other women that she was interested in.

Natsumi is filled to the brim with energy! Lack of sleep happens on occasion, but Natsumi has managed and will manage to push through the fatigue if she has motivation to do so.

Biography

Childhood

She was... not exactly what someone would call serene. Natsumi was definitely more defiant and free-spirited, often finding herself in trouble for outright wanting her own adventures and to carve her own path. In a way, it made her seem undisciplined and as such, she was sent off for training with the shinobi.

She constantly ran into conflicts with her younger sister, Hikari, it was something more friendly and the usual sibling tension that flared between the two. Tadashi, her brother, was often considered a slight bit of a slacker, although she had an easy time to talk with him.

Time in Doma

Her life was changed at this point. Now that she was old enough, she was training the quieter Doman arts, and started her path as a ninja. She learned discipline and the importance of duty, as well as finding a rather easy time with martial skills. That, combined with her smaller stature compared to hyurs and the ability to very swiftly learn how to fight with blades, Natsumi found herself joining the numerous shinobi in serving their duty to the elders.

Of course, the Garleans attacked and quickly altered Natsumi's fate. Her master had ultimately given her the choice to take her family and flee to Eorzea, for the sake of finding a better future. While her master remained behind and moved to other villages to resist the Garlean influence, Natsumi fled with her parents and Sashiri, her twin sister, to Eorzea.

Transition to Eorzea

Their first destination was Ishgard. Accused for heretics despite being able to briefly live in Ishgard at the mercy of friends, her parents were quickly executed. Traumatized earlier from the devastating Imperial assault on her village, Natsumi succumbed into a fury and managed to fight off the few soldiers that were meant to execute her and Sashiri, with the assistance of an armored, yet hooded figure. As they fled, the hooded figure offered Natsumi a soul crystal in secret.

Not one to turn gifts away, Natsumi accepted and quietly sought out the few other Dark Knights in secret to learn to utilize her emotions to protect.

But soon enough, Natsumi fled to Gridania. She found herself in a hard time to fit in, until she eventually ran into Ayla in the Black Shroud. After exchanging stories and long hours of talking, Ayla offered assistance to Natsumi, offering her room to the wayward Hyur, to which Natsumi gladly accepted. Since then, they had bonded to something more than a friendship, even if it remains platonic. In essence, they may as well have been inseparable.

Nowadays, Natsumi keeps her dark arts close to her, prepared to use it in the defense of those who she cares for, while searching for potential students to learn the Doman arts. She yearns to return to Doma, and often looks for any reason to attack any Imperial holdings or patrols if she feasibly could.

Ayla had shown nothing but kindness to Natsumi, and Natsumi respects Ayla immensely. Natsumi often finds herself elated to be around Ayla, and is willing to go through lengths to protect Ayla if she was in danger. Currently, Natsumi is sleeping on Ayla's couch, and is Ayla's roommate. Despite any sort of possible differences, the two easily learn from each other. ● Taz'tri Xerr : Natsumi had brief contact and a few letters written to Taz'tri. She finds his company pleasant and his healing abilities very competent and potent. Having Taz'tri check on her after an event was a comfort and she'd gladly call Taz'tri a friend. ● Fhilwyda Eyrihaerzwyn : A strong willed Roegadame! If flirting rivalries could be described as friendly, amiable, and able to amp up sexual tension between the two-- Natsumi and Fhilwyda's relationship could be considered flirting rivals... to each other. Rather than acting on their flirts, they seem to just see how far they can get with their words, while keeping Ayla amusingly in the dark about the flirting. They met and befriended over realizing they had a mutual friend over Ayla. Despite it all, Natsumi has respect for Fhilwyda and gladly would fight alongside the Roegadyn. ● Khyra Luriihn : Natsumi was invited to Khyra's wedding by proxy of Ayla. Although she only had very brief words with Khyra, Natsumi found her to be a pleasant person who had a very delightful wedding. Of course, there's probably more to be seen with them in the future, other than the presentation of "that hot woman in a wedding dress." ● Zigovali Rigovali : A lalafellin arcanist that usually goes around to meet with Ayla. Although originally acquaintances, Natsumi grew tired of his antics and one argument had decidedly resolved Natsumi to burn the bridge for good. If spotted around Zigovali, she'll quickly grow hostile and annoyed at his presence.
