Okit'a Bajhiri, known more simply as Okita, is common sight in the markets of Ul'dah. An enigma, the keeper is many things: a shitty fortune teller, a drunkard, a sex fiend, a drug addict, and an overall ner-do-el. Rumors circulate that the swindling fortune teller was once, in actuality, one of the greatest diviners alive. Not wanting to follow his overbearing matriarch mother's demand to go along with a massive political marriage that would merge two equally massive Keeper tribes together, Okita took advantage of his youthful appearance and crossdressed as a bridesmaid to escape, leaving his bride, the future matriarch, at the alter. In a fury, his mother, who doubled as his tutor in all things aetherial, cursed him to the ends of the earth, stating that since he was so fond of seeing the future with clear view that from then on he'd bring terrible misfortune to those who he read cards for. Not wanting to bring death and destruction, Okita found a workaround. By being drunk/high/horny or simply 'incensed' the keeper could read the future without any misfortune falling others as a result. His livelihood saved, Okita now resides in the confined walls of Ul'dah, shirking responsibility and commitment to instead swindle passerbys with his fortune telling, living by the motto of 'get rich, or die trying'.

  • Often found sitting on the side of the road or in a town's market offering to read the stars to see the future in return for gil. Although he gets the general idea right, the specifics of what will eventually come to pass are foggy due to his incensed state. He never tells someone their fortune sober, fearing what might occur if he did.
  • As a sex fiend with half of his mind always full of lust, Okita has a love of similarly setting up shop and using his mystical arts and charm to seduce the local women for a heated night of passion before disappearing the following morning.
  • Usually found smoking some sort of laced cigarrette or cigar, Okita is a fan of perusing the local red light district in search of new and exotic ways of clouding his mind and forgetting about the past still waiting for him to come home.
  • As opportunistic as they come, Okita is an avid fan of loitering around the local bars or adventurers guild in search of mooching off some mercenaries in search of a healer. Loving a good chance to make some gil, he is a common sight at such venues.

Appearance

Hair/Fur: Dark Blue
Skin: Smoke Black
Eyes: Green and Blue
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 172 lbs
Build: Ectomorphic, but muscular and toned.

Standing at a modest height, smack dab in the middle of the average range for male mi'qotes, Okita is nothing overly special when it comes to his appearance. Sure, from his early years in the Sagolli desert he became a rather toned and somewhat muscular young man, but never to the point of looking akin to a warrior or the like. His dark skin and navy blue hair often became the first things people saw in him, as well as the fact that, well, he is a male keeper, one of an exceedingly rare breed. Overall, Okita appears to be healthy and in the prime of his life, with enough muscle to get by in a scrape though, more notably, a high amount of stamina to let him run away at top speeds without getting tired quickly. Years of running away from his mother and other similar responsibilities have led to him obtaining a body similar to a sprinter's.
Okita's face is fairly youthful, yet somewhat angular and rigid enough to show his mature age and status. His dark smokey black skin is often the first thing strangers may notice beneath his usual turban and other clothing, as well as his mistmatched eyes and traces of blue hair. With a aquamarine left eye, and a burning red right eye, the mismatched colors only add to the somewhat mysterious aura that the southern nomad often gives off when meeting people for the first time who might not be aware of his more... unpleasant personality traits. The tribal markings on his face indicate the traditional clan which he came from, as well as his position as the only male of mating age. When giving off one of his usual goofy and warm smiles, an observer would see that Okita's canines are significantly longer than the normal mi'qotes. His blue hair is usually kept to a medium length and tied up behind his head to fling out as it may, with highlights of red mixed in here and there. His blue ears are somewhat longer than normal, and often have earrings of some sort mixed in here and there. Lastly, an X shaped scar is located on his face, a lasting memento from his ex-fiance before escaping to freedom.
Sporting a distinctly ectomorphic body type, Okita is a lean yet somewhat muscular man. With an abundance of cardio via running for his life, as well as the odd adventuring group here and there, he has the physicality to heal his allies as need be, or run away from them once he ninjas all the loot. With long legs and arms, he might appear somewhat lanky if not for the modest amounts of muscle and low amounts of body fat that give him a toned and chiseled phyqisue. His fluffy blue tail is usually kept in his pants to avoid being recognized strait away, but when let out freely can be seen as rather long compared to his middling height. Overall, his body is fairly normal with not much of note really.

Biography

Okit'a Bajhiri, first of his name, was born to perhaps the most important member of his tribe, the matriarch. Never knowing his father, Okita was the product of a nomadic male's encounter with the aforementioned matriarch. The birth of a new male into the tribe was truly a momentous occasion, with a lavish festival and feast being thrown to commemorate his birth, one of the few males the Bajihri tribe had. Uza, his mother, led their nomadic tribe across the star-lit sands of the Sagolii desert, acting as gypsies, hunters, and merchants. One of the few far-southern keeper tribes, Okita and his kin were well known for their usual secrecy and isolated nature, only coming into Ul'dah or one of the settlement when there were goods to sell. Enigmatic and mystical in every sense of the word, the dark skinned tribe members were renown above all things for their mystical proficiency in the healing arts, and, as it came to be known, Okita was perhaps the most gifted of them all.
Even at a young age, Okita seemed to take the teachings of his mother, an astrologian trained in Ishgard itself, to heart. An abnormal amount of prodigal skill became apparent to those in the tribe as Okita began to use his teachings in astrology to actually predict events that would happen. These glimpses of the future were small at first, limited to just that day or a few minutes ahead of the present, but as time passed and the boy grew older, his proficincy truly became something deserving of awe. The ability in divination the child had was unparalleled by any past member of the clan, beyond what many perhaps considered natural or possible. Some learned magi in Ul'dah were skeptical of the prodigal child's foresight though couldn't challenge that the boy indeed had a supernatural ability to see the future better than any simple fortune teller could. Those within the tribe saw it as a blessing from Mephene, a gift to them that might be transfered into the next generation when Okita came of breeding age. However, with great power comes great responsibility, and as this power continued to develop, so did the child's other less favorable characteristics...
It began, like all things, with an innocent desire to help his tribe. One day, while in Ul'dah, Okita attended the colosseum and predicted that one contestant would win the whole tournament. In a leap of faith, Uza wagered the entirety of the tribe's collective ownings on the match, praying to the gods that he was right. When that day had ended though, the entire tribe walked out of Ul'dah with more gil and wealth than they knew how to feasibly carry. Beloved by the tribe for bringing them unprecedented prosperity, Okita felt happy to be loved by his extended family, as well as by his mother. While this practice of wagering on various events and such brought the tribe a massive amount of wealth, it began to twist and contort Okita's personality over time. A love of all the things that money could provide fed the greed and similar vices that the young keeper had. Preferring to lazily lay about, letting his predictions support the clan, the keeper became the lazy and carefree individual that he is today. Now, when he went into Ul'dah, he simply gave his mother his prediction and went his own way while she waered all their owning once again. Instead of being productive, Okita spent his wealth lavishly on his own personal 'interests, smoking laced substances, drinking his fill, buying more women than he could conceivably mate with in a single day, and more. Self-centered and irresponsible, many a misadventure came to be had as Okita enjoyed seizing the day.
These shenanigans did not go unnoticed however, as Uza came to disapprove of the 'loose' lifestyle that Okita came to enjoy. Deciding that such pursuits were the result of naive youth and sexual frustrations of being a keeper male, Uza took it upon herself to begin preparing with the shaman for the young man's coming of age ceremony. Being just as opportunistic as her son, the matriarch reached out to a large tribe in the north with a potential deal, by marrying the future matriarch of the northern clan with Okita of the south, the offpsring would join their two tribes together into one. With an impressively staggering amount of wealth, the perceived genetic gift of Okita's divination skills, and the thought of the influence they might have and potential for future growth, the northern clan accepted and planned to meet and conjoin their mutual fates within the Black Shroud. At learning he was now engaged, seemingly out of the blue, Okita panicked, his life of hedonism and self-centered pleasure was suddenly thrown into jeopardy by this arranged mating. As the shock of the whole surprise wore off, Okita's mind began to swirl with dissatisfaction, he was going to make his dash to freedom, no matter what it took.
The day of the mating finally came, the shamans awaiting the arrival of the northern and southern mates. Yet, while the northern female arrived at the altar to conjoin the two tribes, Okita, the male, was notably missing. Upset, Uza ordered the Black Shroud be combed through in search of her prodigal son. Yet, as the hunters filed out in search of the southern panther, it became apparent that a second person was curiously missing, one of the northern female's birdesmaids. By the time that Uza realized what had occured, it was too late. She could see the silhouetted figure of a lone mi'qote riding bareback on a chocobo south towards Ul'dah. Okita had crossdressed as a bridesmaid, knocked the real one out and stolen her clothes, before shawshank redemption'ing off into the sunset. All the while, the sly fox in a cat's skin laughed at the foolish keepers, deciding to take control of his life and his fate and enjoy his life to the fullest. The only person that mattered was himself, after all.
In an incensed rage, the matriarch summoned the entirety of her power and skill in astrology, cursing her irresonspible son to the ends of the earth. He had thrown the future of not just the Bajhiri, but the northern tribe into jeopardy by refusing to do what was for the good of the majority, refusing to do his part to keep the clans growing. For this, she laid a powerful curse on her foolish son. Since he was so fond of seeing the future so clearly, those whom he read cards for would come to have terrible tragedy befall them. Until Okit'a returned home and accepted his responsibility and committed to the good of the majority's future, he would suffer in this way. The southern panther found out about the potency of this curse when making a prediction for an old Hyur, causing him to have a heart attack later that same day.
Terrified of what his powers had become, Okita tried to do what he did best, look for a loophole. Thankfully, he found one. So long as he remained 'incensed' via drugs/alcohol/lust/etc he could still see a person's future, albeit not a well as he could before- despite achieving impressive amounts of clarity anyways. With a now semi-permanent state of mental fitlh clouding his mind, Okita became a fortune teller for hire once again, frequenting the various cities of Eorzea as well as the lesser settlements, never staying in one place for too long lest he be captured and dragged back home. Furthermore, this self-destructive lifestyle has begun to slowly rot away Okita from the inside out, killing him slowly in a haze of poor judgement. Now a nomadic male, and an adventurer, Okita seeks to seize his fate and look forwards to a better tommorow, despite the constant feeling of the sad and pained gazes of his past looking at him from over his shoulder...

Commonly heard

"Oh god, please tell me you didn't just say that name. The last time that scumbag showed up here he managed to swindel just about everyone at the market, convinced them that the world was going to end and that the only way they could stop it was to send him monthly payments of 100 Gil to his bank account" - Taven patron
"We confronted him once, he had seduced the captain's twin daughters and taken them to bed. He said he was willing to 'throw in the towel' and try to make amends. Unfortunately, he picked up a roll of paper towels and threw it at us while he jumped out the window and swam away" - Disgruntled Sea Wolf
"He told me that in three days time I'd find great joy in an unexpected place. Sure enough, I met my fiance in three days time while on a caravan to Gridania. Okita might be the bottom of life's shitty barrel, but I'll be damned if he isn't some sort of diviner" - Hyur Merchant

Occasionally heard

"Okita? He was a good healer, made sure to keep the group in fighting shape. We managed to get out of Adampor Keep alive because of him. I can't vouch for the rumors that go around, but he's an alright guy from what I've seen" - Veteran Adventurer
"He had this dumb smile on his face, even when he was being chased by a Nunh for sleeping with his harem while he was gone. This stupid, goofy, grin, it was pretty surreal, almost felt bad for the guy, wonder what it is he's thinking about exactly" - Twin Adder Hunter
"I'm in-debtted to him, really, I am. When he saw my wife's fortune and saw that she was pregnant with out son, I was in disbelief, even moreso when he said that she'd miscarriage unless she got an alternative birth through the assistance of a healer. Thank the gods for that mi'qote, because of him, both my son and my wife are with me now. I don't care that he's a troubled soul, he saved my family, and that's something that I'll forever remember him for" - A New Father

Rarely heard

"A few weeks after he left town, a host of keepers arrived, they were looking for him and offering a ransom to whoever brought him to their matriarch. Apparently he ditched his fiance at the altar and ran off to gods knows where. Guess it makes sense, he never seems to linger in one place for very long, much to our collective relief" - Town Guard
"Aye, I met him alright. Me and the lads tried to rub him down for some money while he was traveling, stone cold sober he was, almost looked more afraid of that than he was of us. When he made that divination that we'd be captured later that day by the Brass Blades, I laughed it off, we'd been evadin' those tools for years. Yet here I am, waiting for the executioner's chopping block. That bastard whoreson mus be laughing in some shit hole, I hope he gets killed, I wish I could do it myself!" - Condemned Convict
