Basic Details

Taijha, or Tai, as her friends call her, is fairly young for an accomplished apothecary, but she grew up as the daughter of her village's wisewoman. Even though Mi'qote are known for large families, her mother only had one other daughter besides Taijha. Narrow Cleft contained two other families, Moui and Bajihri, so even though she only had one sister, among the extended family she had four brothers and six sisters. Because of the nature of their village's surroundings there was very little damage, and no loss of life during the Calamity. Even though Taijha has grown up and left home with a serious case of wanderlust, she occasionally gets homesick and returns home to visit her aging mother and her extended-family.

Family

Mother - Jhili Tayuun

Father - Lhei'a Nelhah (traveling merchant)

Sister - Masikha Tayuun

Appearance

Taijha is a tiny girl with dark gray skin, long black hair often dyed with lavender streaks and bright, pale lavender eyes. She stands no taller than five fulms and is quite petite in build. She sometimes laments the fact that being an herbalist means that her nails are often damaged and she can't use any polish on them. She considers herself average in looks, though others have told her she is quite pretty.

Behavior

Taijha is a social butterfly even if she can be a bit shy around new people, she loves being in a group chatting; she fears few things more than being alone. But even like that, she likes some alone-time especially if she found a new book to read. She loves adventure stories, romance, and medical books, always looking out for new treatments and cures. She keeps her home in Gridania, but her heart still lives in Narrow Cleft with her family, but when wanderlust takes her, she is off into the forests finding herbs, meeting new people, and chatting up the local healers, be they apothecaries, conjurors, physicians or veterinarians.

She is a curious type by nature, and growing up she was often scolded and punished for going too far out into the forests beyond the village bounds. The ocean that served as her back yard was fuel to her imagination, dreaming about far off lands and the wonders they hold. She has little fear of strangers, and is often open and friendly too them unless they prove to be hostile before hand. Extremely large crowds and bustling city markets scare her a little - as a tiny country girl, she is often worried about getting stepped on or hurt by much larger folk.

Despite being a Moonkeeper, she had to adjust her life to being diurnal, because waking your client up during the Third Watch so you could attend to their chocobo would be very impolite. She loves the cool of the night, the stars and the moon, sunlight is too bright, too garish; so she tries to keep her business hours early in the morning or in the late evening. During the brightest part of the day, she tends to take naps, stay indoors, or find some shady spot and fish, or read a book.

Her favourite activities include fishing, cooking and the occasional bout of shopping for new clothes, shoes and jewelry. If she finds a bookstore she has never been to in her wanderings, she will spend hours in there pouring through the shelves seeking something new, or checking out books she has seen before - just in case.

Background: Before the Calamity

Taijha spent all of her young life in Narrow Cleft, the youngest of two, and the last, she being a child of later years, and her sister being 10 years older than her. Traditionally, Masikha would have carried on their mother's role as the wise woman, but she ran off at the age of 20 and hasn't been heard from since, so it fell to Taijha to learn the healer's trade to carry on after her mother. Which is perhaps fortunate, because she loves this sort of work: tending to the sick and injured, and seeing them all healthy again. As a child she learned a lot of the useful household chores such as cooking and sewing, and how to collect the proper herbs and spices. Being a child of the Twelvewood she had to learn how to defend herself against nocturnal threats, so she is fairly good with a bow and knife.

Background: The Calamity

At 15, She was still pretty much a child during the great battle at Carteneaux. As such wasn't able to join the Twin Adders on the field of battle, but still she had daydreams about becoming a famous healer there. Five people left Narrow Cleft to join the Grand Companies for that terrible battle, and only 2 came back; 2 were killed and one went missing. It was a sad day when the survivors came back still baring their injuries and the troubled looks on their faces. Taijha has since lost any desire to go to war even as a healer.

During the fiery destruction as the moon exploded, Taijha and her mother were out in the forest gathering herbs and roots. Burning moon-slag rained down on the Shroud setting trees and underbrush on fire. They were too far from the village to seek protection from it so they ran for their lives and found shelter in cave deep in the Eastern Shroud. As it turned out, it was actually an old abandoned shrine to the goddess Menphina, so they prayed to survive the hellish rain.

When it finally ended, and the fires had ate themselves out of fuel, they left the shrine, covered in dirt, soot and only slightly injured. Taijha had minor cuts and abrasions, winding up with a couple scars on her face and arms from burning debris - her mother only suffered a laceration on her left arm. Arriving back at the village, they were relieved to see that no one had been seriously injured or killed, and only one of the buildings had taken any damage.

Present Day

After the nightmare of the Calamity, it was then that Taijha decided that becoming a healer was what she was meant to be, and so when she turned 20 she left for Gridania where she set up shop as an apothecary, offering her services to everyone, even tending to chocobos when needed. She still goes home every so often, checking up on her mother, and hoping to see her long-lost sister again. In her journeys she has only once been outside of the Shroud when she went to Thanalan out of curiosity. It was hot and dry and nothing like she had ever seen before, she didn't stay long, preferring the darkness and cool of the Twelvewood much better. In recent times she is often found in the inns and taverns of the Shroud, or out in the forest, of stables of the chocobos.
