Character

Basics

Date of Birth: 3rd Astral Moon, 19th Day, 1554

Age: 23 Years

General History

Q'rin was born into the Puk tribe in 1554. Deemed a runt, his value in the tribe was not immediately discovered, until an event revealed innate abilities as a skilled healer. He was taken in as an apprentice to the tribe's conjurer, whom he trained with in the arts of alchemy and healing. After the calamity, he found himself alone, and put his healing knowledge to use traveling from town to town, aiding those wounded by the disaster. He is still a "wandering healer" to this day, taking board in various towns, healing their wounded, while taking no pay for his work.

Appearance

Q'rin is relatively light-skinned for a seeker, with dark markings under his eyes. He has two blue stripes on each cheek, matching the color of his left eye. His eyes are heterochromatic, one being a lighter blue than the other. He has a slim figure, one forged from a majority of time spent walking, and not much food to be had. He is as average-height as the Miqo'te come. Never seen dressed in anything other than his brown cowl, he keeps his hood up the majority of the time, as his tall, pointy ears often get cold. He wears a small Orobon tooth around his neck.

Behavior

Q'rin makes an effort to stick in the background of most gatherings, quietly observing others' interactions. However, once needed, he will charge to the front lines, ignoring any threat to tend to the fallen. When aiding wounded, he is calm, his voice almost soothing as he works with his various potions and magicks. Outside of healing, however, he keeps his words mostly to himself. He tries to make an effort to not get to know others well, as previous experiences have left him wary about caring too deeply for anyone.

Full History (Spoilers) ROUGH DRAFT 2

Pre-Calamity

Q'rin Tia was born on the 19th day of the 3rd Astral Moon, in the year 1554. The siring male was Q'sibh Nunh, his mother Q'rodh Oshi. He was a runt at birth, and thus ignored by the majority of the tribe for being too weak to survive for long. His size resulted in him not being much for fighting. He, instead, spent most of his time exploring the vicinity of the tribe. Q'rin would often be caught on the outskirts of their territory, playing in the dirt or swimming in the river. He had a strange affinity for nature.

He spent most of his early childhood this way, off on his own, until he met Q'uinn, at age seven. He was six months her elder, and, although opposites in almost every way, quickly became close friends. Q'uinn was training to be a fighter, showing an early understanding for hand-to-hand combat. After her training, the two would run off into the nearby wilderness. He would teach her the lay of the land, how to track and find the animals, and she would attempt to teach him how to hunt and kill for food, although he often left her to the bloody work. The two provided well for the clan in this way, although the credit would usually go to Q'uinn, Q'rin continuing to be unnoticed.

On one such trip,, Q'uinn was wounded while sneaking up on a Ziz. The beast fled, but she was left on the ground, bleeding. Q'rin ran to her in a panic. Her leg was sliced open by the creature's talon, and sat agape. He looked around for anything he could use to tie the wound shut, , but could find no vines or long stems. Exhausting every solution he could think of, he dropped to his knees. He placed his hand on the leg and closed his eyes, beginning to sob. A strange sound began to eminate from her leg, and as he looked back down at it, it began to mend right before his eyes! His hand was glowing, a bright, white light. He stared, his mouth agape, not even sure what was occurring. Q'uinn, however, was not so confused, having been familiar with healing magicks from her pugilist training.

Upon arriving back at the camp, Q'uinn dragged Q'rin to Q'loke Tia, the tribe's conjurer. She forced Q'rin to explain exactly what happened. Q'loke listened quietly, nodding as Q'rin and Q'uinn retold the event. After excusing Q'uinn from the room, Q'loke began to explain to Q'rin the art of conjury, and the healing magicks he had unintentionally performed. He took Q'rin under his wing, finding quickly that the boy had savant-levels of healing talent, once properly focused.

Focus, however, was something Q'rin lacked. Years of being on his own did not prepare him well for apprenticeship, and he often did not take his lessons seriously, instead only learning enough to get by. Q'loke would send him to various locations, gathering materials for poultices and potions, with the aided defense of Q'uinn. The two became quite the pair, her taking the brunt of the fighting, while he kept her without wound. Their successes made him cocky, although he would find quickly that he had much left to learn.

Calamity

The Puk tribe was not in a prime location when Dalamud fell. Shrapnel from the moon showered the tribe, causing a panic to befall them as fires swelled over the buildings and nearby trees. Q'rin and Q'uinn escaped together, running for their lives amidst the flames.

Only one of them made it, however. A large shard of the moon crashed into the earth between the two, sending Q'rin flying. Q'uinn was killed instantly. Q'rin just sat on the ground, staring at the chunk, as the world collapsed around him.

Post-Calamity

Q'rin could not remember just how he had survived the rest of the calamity. Soot-covered and bloodied, he walked for days, until he found himself in current-day Bentbranch Meadows.

He spent a few days there, assisting in the wounded and maimed that flooded in. He slept little, resting only when needing to gather his energies to continue his healing. He quickly lost count of how many he had assisted, as for every one he helped, it seemed there were two more arriving.

However, as other healers arrived, he departed Bentbranch, choosing to hit the road and assist others that needed healing, who were not capable of making it to the major towns. Before leaving, he was gifted a brown cowl, thick boots, and a staff, to make his journey more comfortable. His journey took him to Quarrymill, the Hawthorne Hut, and other gatherings, before eventually finding himself in Gridania.

Current Day

Q'rin continues to roam Eorzea, not truly settling in any location. He considers himself a wandering healer, providing assistance to smaller towns and villages that do not have the resources required to care for their wounded. He takes no pay for his work, instead driving himself with the motivation to become the conjurer his teacher saw in him. He blamed himself for the loss of Q'uinn and the others, feeling that if he had just been... better... he could have saved them all. Refusing to let it happen again, he devoted himself fully to the healing arts.

Relationships

Q'loke Tia: Q'rin's teacher. Once the Nunh of the tribe, he was later relegated to a position of leadership after being defeated by Q'sibh. In his later years of his life, he took Q'rin on as an apprentice, hoping to teach him the arts of conjury and alchemy before the end of his days. Although Q was not the best student, he still considers Q'loke one of his main reasons for being the healer he is today.

Q'uinn Sibh: Q'rin's closest friend. From a young age, the two quickly became inseparable. Q'uinn was training to be a pugilist, spending her days practicing, and her evening hunting with Q'rin. She was the one who discovered his healing talents after an accident during one of their excursions.

Q'sibh Nunh: Q'rin's father. Only nunh of the Puk tribe. Q'rin did not have a strong relationship with his father, as he was abandoned early for being a runt, viewed as having no potential place in the tribe.

Q'rodh Oshi: Q'rin's mother. She worked as a fisher for the tribe. Once he was old enough to be on his own, she, too, abandoned Q'rin, spending her endeavors attempting to provide more valuable offspring for the tribe.
