Rheyla is, to Qata'a, his savior and world. He followers her religiously, obsessively seeking her attention whenever possible.

Xev, being Rheyla's closest cousin, is for now considered "safe" by Qat. Their relationship seems to be closest to that of siblings.

History

Past

Qata'a was born to a clan most interested in warring with other neighboring clans, obsessed with ancestral victories and strict with their own particularly unusual culture. His family was less of a source of love and comfort and more of a means to expand - both in terms of breeding potential and territory.

Unlike most Keeper clans, Qata'a's clan heavily relied on patriarchy. He grew up learning from older Miqo'te in his clan that, as a male, he would eventually gain the right to do whatever pleased him. Until then, however, he did anything and everything any elder male told him.

This didn't stop Qata'a from befriending some of the other children, and even sometimes some adults. He was playful, often getting scolded for disrupting work. The earliest parts of his life were spent ignoring the carnage his family wrought around him, whether it was a body being dragged in through town or sobbing coming from one of the tents.

... Eventually, one of the rival clans struck back. His home was destroyed and the family he knew was slaughtered. The other clan meant to wipe out their entire existence, except for one female Keeper who found a cowering Qata'a. She plucked him up and kept him with her, protecting him from the fate her sisters would have given him.

After a long, long while of scratching and biting, Qata'a has become fond of his savior, Rheyla. The two have been traveling together since.

Present

Nowadays, Qata'a spends most of his hours with Rheyla. When he wanders off on his own, it's normally to hunt (for food, sport, or both) but he always returns. Recently, another Keeper has been traveling with them - Xev, Rheyla's cousin. After some conflict he's finally settled down around her - mostly.
