Background

His mother was a chocobo caretaker and he was quite literally born in a stable. She died mysteriously when he was young, too young to remember her in any certain way. As a favor to his mother, Lady Caecillia took him in. He grew up in her brothel and, when he was old enough, began training to entertain and pleasure anyone who walked through the door, as well as the art of flirting. He was taught to read and write, as well as poetry and art. As he got older, his curiosity grew and he often read books, retaining the information he absorbed to the point he could recall perfect details in his observations at the brothel. Lady Caecillia nurtured his thirst for knowledge and allowed him far more freedom than others in her employ.

During his sixteenth year, a natural gift for healing magic became apparent. Deciding he would like to help others with his ability, he left the brothel to study conjury, as well as other healing techniques. He traveled the world, seeking knowledge.

Appearance

Standing a little taller than the average midlander, Rick is all lean muscle. His honey colored hair is kept stylishly short and has slightly darker tips. His eyes are icy blue though recently his left eye turned red and it is unknown if it will ever change back. He doesn't like scars, since his time with Caecillia taught him to always look his best.

He is most comfortable wearing nothing, or as close as he can get. He is usually seen wearing a hooded shirt that exposes much of his torso. He likes the matching shorts and will either wear sandals or tall boots, depending on his mood or magical inclination. He wears glasses, mostly to read, but doesn't really need them. He just looks good in them.

Personality

Rick is very curious, and that sometimes leads him into trouble. He's charming, flirtatious, charismatic, and easy going. He is always willing to help people (another thing that usually leads to trouble). Not much can bother him.

He does have a darker side, though. It takes a lot to anger him, but he will continue to smile as he plots death. If pushed too far, he becomes cold and distant and calculating.

Religion

He follows that path of Oschon the Wanderer very loosely. He sees religion as a means for people to escape or blame others for their problems. He is scientific and does not truly believe in Gods.

Quirks

• He has a terrible phobia of large birds, possibly from an incident when he was too young to remember. His memory is photographic but he keeps journals and plant diaries to reference if necessary. He often tilts his head to the side in a sign of curiosity and has picked up the habit of raising one eyebrow from a friend. He will also eavesdrop to learn anything he can, even if it's just nonsense.

Rick is a firm believer that the greatest battle won is one not fought with swords. His tactics begin with trying to talk before anything else. If that does not work, then he will run. If pursued, he will defend, and as a last resort he will exterminate the threat to himself or friends. He prefers healing and support, but is also well versed in destructive magics.

Lady Caecillia Troisiet - A Duskwight with grace and beauty, she is the proprietess of a brothel. She took Rick in and raised him when his mother died. He considers her as a mother.

Positive Standing

Liam Connor - Liam was the first person Rick ran across in his journey through Ul'dah. He managed to talk Liam out of some trouble with some Brass Blades and they became fast friends, despite their differences. They have become like brothers, and Rick is quick to aid Liam, even without his knowledge. Though Liam is always telling him to stay out of trouble, Rick has earned the nickname "Mr. Trouble" and can always count on Liam to help him out.

Jia'khan Voskos - After recieving a strange summons to the Quicksand from M'ikal, their first interaction together was a surprise ear petting. After some time, their relationship grew and now Jia is Rick's mate.

Krys'a Lyrabhe - Liam's husband, Rick considers Krys to be a good friend and ally. He coften likes to tease the Miqo'te.

Neutral Standing

M'ikal Tia - A shy and adorable Miqo'te he met in the Quicksand. Though he started out just as a teacher, giving him lessons on reading and writing, they soon became friends. He cares for M'ikal and enjoyed watching him grow as both a student and a fighter. They had a falling out after the birth of their son and though they no longer see each other, Rick des not regret meeting M'ikal.
