Biography

Early Life

Rosie Bubblegum was born Rosalina Lina on the 15th Sun of the 1st Umbral Moon in Limsa Lominsa; her mother was a Limsan aristocrat and her father was an envoy to the Monetarists of Ul'dah. She studied Eorzean Literature from an early age and took an interest in the writings of Priorfaix Pellicier, particularly "his short stories in which antlion slugs ruled an underground kingdom." [citation needed] When she was 16 she was offered the opportunity to join a trading company on their voyage to Mazlava as the ship's thespian and entertainer. Rosie later recounted that it was during these improvisational performances that the framework for The Bloodshore Four emerged.

Froelona and Hartrael and The Bloodshore Four

Upon returning from the voyage, Rosie began work on Froelona and Hartrael, a romantic comedy said to be loosely based on a relationship between two female Sea Wolves who she had met during her time at sea. The play was met with disdain from many critics, who found the subject matter to be distasteful. This was echoed by many play-goers of the time and, commercially, the play was a failure, although in recent years it has gained a cult following, with Hatrael's monologue in the penultimate scene being recited during many Eternal Bonding ceremonies.
After taking a year away from the theatre to concentrate on her studies in arcane magic, Rosie completed The Bloodshore Four and preparations for its showing were made soon afterwards. Whereas Froelona and Hartrael had initially turned play-goers away with its verbose monologues and poetic prose, The Bloodshore Four was seen by many as a much more approachable piece, and after initial showings sold out, it was decided that the play would be performed at Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre, where it stayed for two moons. It was during this time that Rosie started to go by the surname of Bubblegum, and adopted her trademark look of scalloped tea dresses, with rose pink hair and glasses.

Post calamity and writing hiatus

After losing her parents in the calamity, Rosie released a book of poems called Llymlaen's Gift, which sought to "make sense of the overwhelming and poignant grief many of us carry, and will continue to carry, for the rest of our lives."
Later that year, Rosie was awarded the Byregot Prize for outstanding contribution to the arts. In her acceptance speech let it be known that she would be taking a break from writing, after feeling she could "no longer contribute to literature in a meaningful way".

Flounce and present

After acting in various playwright's productions, Rosie's iconic look was drawing more attention, with some audience members dressing up as Rosie whilst attending her performances. This resulted in her being offered the position of guest editor of fashion magazine Flounce, which extended into a full time role soon thereafter. During her time at Flounce, Rosie has introduced features such as Cutie Finder, aimed at shining a spotlight on emerging fashion trends, as well as championing the work of various designers.
