Nature & Demeanor

Demeanor: Shizuka is very caring, and generally very considerate. She's faithful, but can be stubborn when it comes to forgiveness.

Nature: She is somewhat shy and self conscious at first meeting, though she warms up in time. She has decidedly thick mental walls, and hesitates to let anyone in.

Religion: Shizuka prays on a regular basis, and asks the stars for blessings for herself and those she cares for.

Habits: She often brushes or blows her hair back away from her face. She has a habit of rubbing the tip of her tail between her hands to try and warm it, even when the day is only moderately cool.

Notable Features

Common Appearance: Shizuka is a groundskeeper and an archer; she often works with her hands and just as often gets dirty doing so. She bathes often, but it isn't uncommon to see her with a smudge of dirt on her nose or cheek.

Scars & Markings: She has no visible scars, and her only markings are the freckles across her nose, cheeks, shoulders, and chest.

Voice: Soft, with a lilting sort of accent. She still occasionally has difficulty with Eorzean words, specifically with certain letters.

Clothing: Her usual attire is comfortable and fitting to the work at hand, though she's been known to misjudge or trust someone else's judgement when it comes to temperature, much to her chagrin. Casual clothing tends to be more pretty and flowing, accented with tiny gems and bells, and other little metal baubles.

Prejudices

It's possible that Shizuka might be a little bit racist, against anyone that isn't Raen. This is more from ignorance about peoples other than her own than true malice.

Strengths

Very loyal and mentally sound. She'll stand her ground to protect those she loves without a second thought. She has a shrewd business mind and does well in negotiations and trade. She has a lot of both physical and mental stamina.

Weaknesses

She's not particularly experienced with romance or even friendship, and is a bit self conscious about this fact. She's also not the most physically strong person.

Combat

She has a particularly good sense with the bow and arrow and is proficient with combat from horseback. She's very good as an astrologian healer, and has been training as a samurai. While she finds the large swords to be a bit unwieldy, she has been doing decently.

Kyoya ( ♥ ● ) - Known only as 'Kyoya', this quiet, dark Au Ra male serves as Shizu's butler and companion. He rarely speaks when others are present, however he has warmed up to his mistress and will often chat over a cup of tea. There are subtle hints to an un-acted upon attraction between the two, should anyone pay attention. Akihiko Tabito ( ● ♥ ✖) - Her dead father. He was beheaded in front of her. Fuyumi Tabito ( ● ♥ ✖) - Her dead mother. She was also beheaded in front of her. Shinro Mori ( ● ≈ ) - Her betrothed. She is unsure if he still survives. Hiroya Tanaka ( ● ✖ ) - Akihiko's captain of the guard. He taught her to survive. He was cut down in front of her. Hakaru Tanaka ( ● ♥ ) - The son of her mentor. Sasha Elune ( ● ) - A newly made friend, an ally of Bayarma. They seem to get along quite well, and Shizu thinks she's 'the bee's knees!'. Baatu Bakhantur ( ● ) - Another newly made friend, an ally of Bayarma. He is almost like a brother figure. Cisun'dai Dotharl ( ● ) - A warrior of the Dotharl, bloodthirsty and battleworn. He and Shizuka are no longer with one another, though they share a child together. Owyn Magerehein ( ● ) - Another ally of Bayarma, she generally likes him despite his disagreement with her life choices. Bayarma Bakhantur ( ● ≈ ) - A very loud and proud Xaela male Shizu has recently met. She has yet to form much of an opinion of him, but she's generally positive towards him. Rhazen Drach ( ♥ ● ) - An Elezen man, adept with the spear and a number of other weapons, Rhazen functions as both Shizuka's trainer and lover.

History

Born the daughter of a daimyō, Shizuka was raised to be elegant and feminine. Females of her station were often used in marriage alliances, and this was to be her fate. The Mori clan occupied a smaller island just across the bay from her own, more mountainous island. What the Mori clan lacked in spices and silks, they made up for with an abundance of produce. Shizuka was to be married to the eldest Mori son, Shinro, in exchange for securing exclusive trading between the two islands. Additionally, the two houses would combine their wealth and and govern both islands when Shinro inherited the title from Akihiko, Shizuka's father. Hiroya was the captain of Akihiko's guard, and felt it was unwise for the hime to be unaware of how to defend herself. He took it upon himself to teach her how to use the bow while teaching his own son, Hakaru. Akihiko was particularly displeased, however his wife, Fuyumi encouraged him to continue teaching in secret. It was this teaching that helped Shizuka survive the Garlean invasion, and it was Akihiko and Hakaru who helped smuggle her down to the bay and off the island.
