The Basics

Night had fallen by the time Sigga Stonebull reached the oceanside storehouse. The storehouse was nominally abandoned but in practice was being used by dock-workers as a weigh-station for the goods they stole from their employers and then sold on the gray and black markets. A shoddy attempt at blacking the windows could not conceal a flicker of light from inside. Sigga stepped to the door and spent a moment examining the doorframe before shattering it with a single thunderous kick. The door exploded inward with a crash that was hidden from any prying ears by the breaking of waves nearby.

Description

Sigga Stonebull is a large, powerfully built Highlander Hyur. He carries himself with supreme confidence that is backed up by a towering, muscular physique. Despite his size Sigga only projects an aura of intimidation when it suits him. His smile is easy and shines through his eyes when he's in a good mood. He favors comfortable, loose clothing and shies away from ostentatious dress.

Personality

Sigga is a generally pleasant person. Friendly, affable, and good-natured one would have difficulty guessing on first meeting him that Sigga will, for the right price, kill people for money. He is kind to pretty much everyone he meets but if he feels someone is being disrespectful or acting with unwarrented aggression Sigga turns cold shockingly fast. He turns cold, but not necessarily violent. He's a man who it could be said is quick to anger but slow to violence. Women and children are treated with much more patience and leniency by Sigga as he is loathe to turn his temper on either group.

History

The occupants of the storehouse, three Hyur and one Roegadyn, froze in mid-motion as Sigga stepped over the threshold and surveyed the room. Piles of pilfered goods were strewn about the room. The goods ranged from bolts of cotton to masses of uncut jemstones waiting to be appraised. Sigga walked into the room while pulling off his gloves. Spotting a small stove in the corner Sigga gave a nod towards it and spoke in a deep voice that clearly was not intent on entertaining argument, "Well then, put the kettle on. We've a discussion to have, you fellows and I."

Childhood

Sigga was born to a widowed mother in Ala Mhigo in the year 1540. He was raised as an only child, his mother never remarried or took another lover. His childhood was fairly typically for a Highlander boy. Concepts such as respect, loyalty, and restraint were drilled in to him on a daily basis by his rather formidable mother. As he grew into a powerful young man he began training in combat and tagged along with guardsmen of Ala Mhigo as they went about their duties. He had aspirations then to become a guard himself, wishing to protect his mother and the city of Ala Mhigo.

The Fall of Ala Mhigo

Sigga was 17 when the Garlean Empire descended on Ala Mhigo. He had been away from home when the attack began and by the time he returned his home was little more than rubble. He tried to dig, unwilling to accept his mothers death, but was pulled away by a guardsmen and wound up fleeing the city with many of his countrymen. Without any aim or goal and deeply shaken by the loss of his mother he drifted for some time, eventually coming to settle in the far distant city of Limsa Lominsa.

Limsa Lominsa

Sigga spent nearly a decade in Limsa Lominsa working on the docks and focusing on day to day survival. He mostly did manual labor, loading and unloading ships for little pay, but he also did spend some time in the bars of Limsa Lominsa as a bouncer. He had a natural talent for breaking up trouble, usually peacefully, but violently when the situation called for it. After making an impression as something of a tough he began to be approached by people who needed specialized work done by someone with Sigga's stature. Pirates, underworld bosses, merchants, concerned parents, spiteful teenagers, basically anyone who could pay could procure Sigga's services. He wasn't completely mercenary though and there were many jobs that he turned down (in particular he turned down jobs that involved causing harm to women).

Recent History

Sigga has begun to travel recently, wandering from city to city doing odd jobs and occasionally settling in for a few weeks at a time. Given the transient nature of his life he became most acquainted with the workers of pubs, inns, and clubs where he often times got work keeping the peace (particularly around festival days).

Traits

Sigga settled himself down on a stool while one of the Hyur fellows prepared a cup of tea for him. He said not a word as he waited, instead he spent his time fixing each of the four men in the storeroom with a stern glare. The Hyur all seemed cowed by his gaze but the Roegadyn projected defiance with his arms folded over his chest and glowering at Sigga. When the kettle began to whistle, Sigga began to speak. "Your employer is disappointed in you boys. Loss is expected in the import/export business but the rate of loss has exceeded the tolerance of your employer. Thank you, son." He nods to the Hyur that has given him his cup of tea. He takes a sip and at that same moment the Roegadyn rushes at him, fist held high.

Skills

Combat

  • Highly skilled with the great axe, training began in Ala Mhigo and continued throughout his life.
  • Fantastic situational awareness, it is exceptionally difficult to sneak up on him or catch him unawares.
  • Talented with improvised weaponry, a talent grown through a number of bar brawls.

Non-Combat

  • As a product of necessity he has a fair amount of skill when it comes to basic maintenance of his equipment and personal effects.
  • He takes his food seriously and, as a result, has developed a considerable talent for cooking.
  • Though it doesn't come up often, he has a pleasant if sonorous singing voice.

Tendencies

With a flick of his wrist Sigga throws his tea into the face of the charging Roegadyn. The hot liquid causes the large man to let out a scream of pain and cover his face with his hands. Sigga is on his feet in in an instant and grasps one of the Roegadyn's arms. With practiced skill Sigga delivers a kick to the Roegadyn's knee, forcing him to kneel while Sigga twists the man's arm nearly to the point of breaking.

Likes

  • Fine food, no matter the ingredient or origin of the cuisine. So long as it prepared with skill, Sigga will enjoy it.
  • Peaceful days spent relaxing in the shade.
  • Taking care of people he perceives as weaker than him.

Dislikes

  • Bland food.
  • Pointless violence.
  • People who mistreat women.

Hobbies

  • Fishing.
  • Watching dancing (specifically, dancing girls).
  • Napping.

Relationships

The Roegadyn clutched his arm and snarled in pain as Sigga tightened his grip and bent it just a tiny bit more toward breaking. Looking at the other three he spoke in a raised, booming voice, "Now your boss likes you lads and so long as you're willing to return the goods and present yourself to him you'll be just fine." He gives a tiny twist of the Roegadyn's arm, causing him to yell, "But you will fall in line!" He looks down at the Roegadyn, "As for you, you're a strong lad but your attitude is shite and quite frankly son, you're a grouser." Sigga savagely snaps the Roegadyn's arm and kicks him to the ground where the large man curls around his now useless appendage. "And I've got no patience for grousers."

Family

Mother: Johanna Whitestag, killed in the sacking of Ala Mhigo

Friends

He has several acquaintances accrued during his time in Limsa Lominsa as well as his time spent travelling and working at inns, pubs, and clubs.

C'rhisi Tohbei: A Miqo'te girl he befriended while working at her club.

Enemies

Many and varied. In his line of work as a freelance muscle-for-hire sort he has made unpleasant acquaintance with all sorts of folks. Most of the people who dislike him are benign (ie. without power or resources to go after him) though he did ruffle quite a few pirate and smuggler feathers when he was in Limsa Lominsa.
