Character

General

Skilly Danjo is a Lalafell currently based in Mor Dhona, although she considers Gridania to be her home. She is an archer, bard, and avid hunter of both game animals and the enemies of Eorzea.

Appearance

Of middle height for a Lalafell, Skilly is trim, with whip-cord muscles. Her copper hair contrasts with her light green eyes. In spite of her agility with the bow, Skilly is surprisingly clumsy in other ways, so she usually sports an assortment of bruises, scrapes, and scratches. Her clothing is marked with food stains and crumbs from her constant munchings.

Behavior

Skilly is generally affectionate, frequently bestowing stealth huggles on friends and acquaintances. She would like to be seen as more vengeful and fierce than she really is, so she often adusts her stories - especially stories of her history - to conceal her compassion. She is a loyal friend and is unable to hold grudges for more than a few minutes. She loves to dance, but her clumsiness causes her to fall often. She has even managed to trip over her own elbows.

Combat

Although she has some training as a lancer and pugilist, Skilly's first love is the bow, and it is in archery that she shows her greatest skill. She has also developed her singing voice and is a bard of considerable accomplishment.

Family

There were four children in Skilly’s maternal grandparents’ family: three sons and a daughter. The daughter married Skilly’s father. The oldest and second-oldest sons were fathers to Onaka and Harakiri respectively. Harakiri’s father committed seppuku just after Harakiri’s birth, and her mother later married her husband’s unmarried brother, the youngest child. With him, she had a second child, Kowai. So Harakiri and Kowai are actually half-siblings, but Skilly is cousin to both.

Skilly came from a family of Plainsfolk, and her husband was also Plainsfolk. Of all Skilly's family, only Skilly, Onaka, Harakiri and Kowai survived the Calamity. After the Calamity, Harakiri, Kowai, and Onaka all adopted the second name "Banjo," for reasons they have never disclosed, not even to Skilly.

Friends

Skilly's closest friends are her cousins, the members of her own free company Brave Vesperia, and the members of her cousins' free company, Seekers of the Phoenix. Callamar Garamonde, Ryka Rivka, Aimee Rippy, and Luca Lowell are among the many she calls her friends.

Enemies

The enemies of Eorzea are Skilly's enemies also. She has no other enemies.

History/Timeline

Skilly’s original name was Sikili Siki. Her mother, Hihoho Hiho, married Doro Dodoro. Both came from Thanalan farming families, but Doro Dodoro left the farm and went to work for a farming supply company. Shortly after their marriage, he and his wife moved to Limsa Lominsa to operate their business there. Sikili Siki was the middle of three children: her older brother, Lopoja Anpoja, helped their father with the family business. The younger, Zotori Kyotori, was still a small child at the time of their father’s disgrace.

When Sikili was 11 years old, her father Doro offended  Admiral Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn, and was told that he had better not show his face – or any other part of himself – in Limsa Lominsa ever again. That same day, the family moved back to the family farm in Central Thanalan, not far from Black Brush Station. Meanwhile, the story of Doro’s disgrace spread throughout Eorzea, and he was nicknamed Baka Tawaka. The name stuck, and by the time Sikili reached adulthood, few people remembered Baka’s original name.

When Sikili was seventeen, her parents forced her into marriage with a neighboring farmer, Tengu Dengu. Tengu was a brutal and unloving husband who constantly criticized Sikili and told her she was worthless. This gave her a fear that she would be rejected if she did not do everything perfectly. Although she has healed a great deal, that fear continues to haunt her.

Tengu and Baka spent much more time at the Coffer and Coffin than they did working the farm, leaving the real work to the rest of the family. Tengu was a braggart who boasted of his strength and courage against wild animals. In fact it was Sikili who, after teaching herself to shoot a bow, did the hunting and drove predators away from crops and herds. When Tengu was severely injured by a dragon, his family blamed Sikili and prompted him to divorce her.  Sikili then left for the South Shroud, where she set up as a hunter and changed her name to Skilly Killy.

A few years after the Catastrophe, after reuniting with Harakiri, Kowai, and Onaka – the only survivors of their families – Skilly changed her name again, this time to Skilly Danjo, and took up the life of an adventurer.
