Upon first glance Kiyo appears to be nothing more than a normal Raen albeit a very pretty one. Her meticulous attention to detail when it comes to make up and styling her hair presenting a picture perfect outward image. Her sapphire blue eyes and silvery blonde hair accentuating her pale skin and alabaster scales. Everything about the way she dresses is designed and tailored for a very specific purpose. Almost all her outfits complimenting her figure in one way or another deliberately aiming to show off her beauty. Aside from this she moves with a clearly practiced grace and agility, her attitude often playful and care free.
Aspects That Stand Out:
Early childhood:Her earliest memories are foggy and surrounded with uncertainty. She recalls her family, Soka the eldest sibling and her only brother, her twin sister Miho and her younger sister Lumina’s birth. Though when pressed on anything aside from this she can recall next to nothing. Her memories of the house they lived in and the area are conflicting and often come to her in dreams posing an unreliable source. All she’s certain of is there was once a time in her history where she lived with her entire family and her parents weren’t dead. After The Fall: Unlike her twin sister Miho, Kiyo remembers nothing of the Garlean attack that ended their way of life. Whether it was a reprisal or not all she knows is what her sister has told her. What she can remember vividly is fleeing the homestead only to be picked up by the Doman Resistance. The emotions stay with her to this day and she can never recall a time in her life she’s been more scared and uncertain of the future. Fortunately she was reunited with Miho and the pair grew up together under the Doman Resistances banner living alongside occupied Doman citizens. Often on the move for fear of discovery, betrayal or simply due to paranoia the twins new family became the resistance. Separated from their older brother Soka and with their youngest sister Lumina spirited away to Kugane for treatment for her illness the twins relied heavily on each other, becoming inseparable and in many ways utterly reliant on each other. Early Teens:Feeling she needed to give something back to the resistance a young part of her developing mind also realised if the twins had nothing to offer they might not always have a secure safe haven amongst the resistance. Whilst Miho excelled at her education Kiyo lagged behind constantly falling short of her twins intellect. Though far from dumb herself she had difficulty focusing and often grew frustrated with her own failures. Desperately seeking to find some self worth she pestered and badgered resistance fighters to take her under their wing and train her. Eventually she managed to attract the attention of one of the resistances spies who seeing her small, agile form decided she would make a good informant or failing everything else could probably sneak into places fully grown adults could not. Surprising herself and her teacher she excelled at the task finding in herself something of a natural talent. Swiftly learning to control her emotions through a focus on acting she began to learn how to manipulate people into not seeing her as a threat. After all what harm could a child possibly cause? Training Years:Whether it was pretending to be an urchin, stealing food or breaking into homes to procure things for the resistance she always managed to outperform expectations. After a year or so she was passed to the tutelage of a senior shinobi working with the resistance to train and hone her agile, developing form into a weapon. Finding in the combat training a new discipline she found some measure of inner peace that she simply couldn’t reach in a classroom. Her entire focus poured into the role as over four years she trained to the highest standards of combat her master could drill into her. Alongside more combat focused training she was taught in observation, espionage and tactics for evading pursuit a heavy focus of her education based around the merits of avoiding physical confrontations. The resistance had plenty of fighters but it took a special kind of person to work alone entirely self sufficient in the field to gather intelligence. Overall training took on many aspects from competing against her master in various tasks to active espionage for the resistance, combat training with recruits and the introduction to mudra’s the deeper art of the shinobi. The later came only after she passed a milestone in her training aged 14 being gifted a shinobi soul crystal and this deeper aspect of her training took over daily life. It took her two years to achieve the rank of Chunin or “middle ninja” after mastering two advanced combinations of mudra. The Ship Year:At the age of 17 the twins suffered a fresh major turmoil. Shortly after reaching a level of her training to be granted the title Jonin or “high ninja” and demonstrating her ability to perform multiple advanced forms of mudra combination her master was captured and slain in a botched operation against the Garleans. In a retribution campaign the resistance cell her and Miho were part of dispersed aiming to reform at the central resistance headquarters though they ultimately failed. All but alone with her sister and a few others they pooled their coin having saved for the contingency of having to flee overseas and purchased passage on two ships. Seperating the sisters initially thought they’d only spend suns or perhaps a moon apart though with each ship on a different course this ultimately became a year. Upon arriving in Eorzea Kiyo quickly found herself mostly alone and in despair. There was no news of the ship carrying her sister and waves of guilt and loss overwhelmed her dragging her into a deep spiral of despair. Desperately trying to establish herself in a new land with new currency and new language she ended up forced to use an aspect of herself to survive which she’d hoped never to need. Having developed into a beautiful young woman she’d often been the subject of unwanted affections and upon entering Ul’dah she swiftly found the only work she could do with a minimal language barrier was dancing for coin with a troupe of barely clothed dancers. Picking up the language was tortuously slow and forced to live in the slums she spent all her gil on lessons to master the language and better her position. Adopting a new last name she took to calling herself Kiyo Enkhtuya as a way to separate what she had to do to survive from who she actually was, even if only in name. Eorzea:Having learnt enough of Ul’dah and the rampant greed and corruption in the city she’d suffered first hand the vile abuses the city overlooked at times. However she had survived and learnt the language, practicing in private her shinobi craft. No matter what happened she refused to become a murderer, someones weapon to use, for that would be a gross betrayal of her training and her masters teachings. Seeking to improve her standing in life and her pride already in tatters at how the uncivilised men of Ul’dah gawked at her dancing form, often telling her exactly what they’d do to her if they had chance, she sought out a different means of making gil. Ultimately this led her to organised prostitution granting her control over exactly what she did and didn’t do outside the control of essentially gang bosses of the slums and giving her some small measure of control over her body. It was whilst working at a “high class” brothel that she overheard information that would change her life for the better. A pair of clients were talking openly about an arena they’d visited which allowed paying customers to beat young women of their choice. Mentioning offhandedly they’d beaten one just like Kiyo the other sun they presumed she’d not overheard or been listening. Doubt overcame her as surely the men couldn’t mean someone -exactly- like her perhaps they only meant another Raen? Regardless she decided to investigate and in the process found her twin sister Miho. She can’t remember exactly what happened next only that one second she was watching a man pummel her sister to cheers and the next she was stood over her sister, blood splattering her flesh and bloodied daggers in either hand. The makeshift arena ruined, spectators having fled or perished in the ruins, the sisters were finally reunited. She’d never intended to kill anyone though the regret was swiftly swallowed in raw fury as she realised the full extent of her sisters suffering. Bringing her to the only place she knew as a sanctuary the brothel offered Miho work as a medical assistant. Though little did the two know in this joint role they would sink deeper into despair and depravity before eventually escaping all together. Kugane:Reunited with Lumina and Soka in the years following leaving the brothel the Okochi family has perhaps miraculously been reunited in one place. Having drifted between various pro-Doman groups or people seeking to improve life in Eorzea for all its people the family eventually decided to go their own way. In light of the renewed hostilities with the Garlean Empire the family made their way to Hingashi and the port of Kugane using their gil to re-establish the old family business and their own ties with the East. Relative stability setting into their lives they all pursue their own goals for the greater interest of the family willing to do anything it takes to succeed and climb from the ashes of their old life. In this time Kiyo has been seeking knowledge on the founding Shinobi clans, dubbed “ninja” by Eorzeans, with the aim of furthering her knowledge in the art.
Notes:
A skillful actor her appearance plays a big part in whatever aspect of her personality she's choosing to show at any time. Her usual act, that of a normal, unassuming, functioning member of society is complimented by her clothes and clear focus on her own appearance. Her default setting is that of a playful, at times carefree person who seems at a first glance to be both wealthy, pretty and aware of both facts. She uses this and her playful, confident nature to subtly manipulate both men and women around her to meet her own ends. Years of training, lying, and deceit, have made her craft many masks. Each of which she wears with such a certainty, that if someone were only to meet one of them, they’d be quite sure that was her sincere personality. In reality she flits between so many different moods and mindsets she isn’t even entirely certain who she is a deep part of her still the scared little girl that fled her home. Her control over her emotions normally so outwardly absolute she can switch between modes almost at the drop of a hat. The only true tell she has is in her gaze which usually conveys a truer aspect of her thoughts than she’d like. To those that know her however she often lowers her guard revealing the more multi-faceted nature of her existence and fully opening up. This is especially true of her twin sister who she shares an unbreakable bond with.
In combat she utilises the shinobi art of mudra casting. These complicated arcane abilities usually a fusion of teleportation and summoning magics are her speciality. She can perform all the standard Shinobi mudra combinations as well as the majority of the more advanced ones that aren't rare or lost knowledge.
Weapons of Choice
Below is useful tidbits should you ever be interested in trying to attack/spar with Kiyo. Please note that I am very open to dark and realistic violence and am not beyond having my character sport an injury for days to weeks on end. However! Dismemberment, permanent damage, and even death needs to be spoken about prior in vivid detail/discussion before anything will ever occur IC.
