Life is about facing trials and growing from them. Rather than avoid problems Steinner prefers to seek them out and face them head on. Whether this is fighting or something more introspective he is always searching for some challenge. ■ Bravery. He has a soft spot for people who stand up to the bullies and monsters in the world, and will always jump in. The bigger the difference between heights and power the more respect he has for it, no matter how foolish it might be, and the quicker he will join in. He has a soft spot for Lalafells. ■ Free Spirits. Steinner is all about exploring the world and everything there is in it, and he is naturally drawn to others like him who just want to see it all. Those who've traveled and have stories are likely to get a round on the house or whatever else is on hand in payment for their stories about their adventures. Dislikes ■ Pettiness/Cruelty. As a refugee growing up he's seen how unnecessarily cruel people can be, and has no tolerance for people hurting others needlessly. ■ Lying/Evasiveness. He prizes honesty and directness and cannot abide anyone who lies. Lies simply get in the way of understanding each other and always end up hurting someone. ■ Wealth/Excess. While he believes it's natural for people to take care of their own he dislikes those who live in excess, especially if they do so at the cost of others. Quirks ■ Work-out Freak. Steinner is a perfectionist when it comes to his body and chosen profession. He is always seeking to push himself farther through hard work and it's not uncommon for him to just start doing something physical if nothing else is happening. ■ Humming. Music is fairly important to Stein, and depending on what he is doing or feeling he'll unconsciously start humming a tune to reflect it. If fighting one might note the tempo of his attacks can change according to whatever tune he is humming. Mentality Stein's mottos is 'Strength through adversity, in conflict we find our truth.' Steinner was a bit of a run growing up, he didn't hit his growth spurt until a few years after the other boys his age did, and was bullied relentlessly for it. Rather than run he always stood and fought, losing almost every time at the start. However as time passed he grew stronger, and when finally he did hit his growth spurts there was no one among his group who would pick on him. This part of his life had a profound impact on his mentality and to this day he is always seeking to get stronger. True to his name rather than wait for the coming storm he will fearlessly chase it down. Not just fights but challenges in every form, the hardest of which come from within. It is easy to look at the man and assume he is a bit dim and reckless, but he possess a keen intellect and wit. He quickly assesses a situation and how best to resolve it, admittedly though he prefers direct, unsubtle approaches to talking or diplomacy. Life holds a certain reverence for him, he is in awe of it and everything in it, constantly striving to learn more about it and experience new things as often as he could. Appearance Standing somewhere around 6 fulm 2 Ilm and weighing in at 190 ponzes Sigmund has a tall but lean build for a highlander. His muscle tone is solid but not overly done, as martial arts can easily weaken if the muscle mass becomes excessive. His hair jet black, parted down the middle to keep it from getting in his way in a fight and he sports a goatee on his chin. His eyes are brown/gold and always look half closed, as if he's always on the verge of falling asleep.He moves with a swagger and ease that often seems to conflict with his intimidating size and demeanor. Naturally relaxed wherever he is it could be easy to dismiss him as careless, but all to often those who pick fights with him learn he's more like a snake coiled together just waiting to release. More often then not Stein will be dressed somewhat practically, simple over ornate unless a situation specifically calls for it. It's also not unusual to see him ditch the shirt when he's working outside, working-out or sparring as he finds it gets in the way. He tends to prefer darker colors to brighter ones, but will always look at ease in whatever he's wearing no matter how stupid it might look on him. NPC Hadvar Stormchaser ( ♥ ✖ ) ( NPC ) - Father Stein never knew his father, he died after the Garlean invasion of Ala Mhigo shortly after Stein was conceived. He knows his father was a monk who fought to take back the country from the Garleans, and who was extremely strong and fearless. He's the idol Stein is always trying to model himself after. It was about five years ago though when he learned about the darker side to his fathers story, and it was this that ultimately pushed him to leave everything behind and go out on his own. Both inspiration and personal bane this man he never met still dominates a significant part of Stein's life, no matter how much he chooses to think otherwise. Ingrid Stormchaser ( ♥ ♦ ) ( NPC ) - Estranged Mother Stein has a complex relationship with his mother. Though he loves her fiercely the two have grown apart in the past five years after revelations of his father came to light. This coupled with his mothers nature of endlessly spoiling him and trying to shelter him from the world growing up has led to a split of sorts. He still cares for her but needs time to define who he is away from her, and she needs time to accept that he is not the man she might wish he was and decide where they go from there. Theodin Ironfist ( ♥ ♥) ( NPC ) - Hard Ass Uncle Where his mother was always doting on him his uncle was the one who endlessly pushed him to be better. He was the one who demanded that he face up to his bullies before allowing him to eat dinner and is ultimately the one who taught him how to fight. While never a monk himself he was studying to be one and learned some of the basics of martial arts from Stein's father. It is clear that Theodin looked up to Stein's father, but equally clear that there is a deep source of underlying bitterness towards the man. Of all of his family Stein is most understood by his uncle, and the two are extremely close and keep in touch even now. Physical harm: I'm generally a believer that actions have consequences, and injuries will inevitably happen. However there needs to be an understanding that in the situation you're in that is a possibility. ■ I won't play ERP: While I believe romance can be an important part of character development I don't see a need to rp out the intimate details in most cases.
