Appearance

Tall and somewhat haggard, Vaughan has the haunted look of someone who has lost much of what enthusiasm they once held for life. He rarely smiles, his default expression one of casual disinterest unless something truly captures his attention. He keeps his light brown hair short and unstyled, and his clothing is of a reasonable quality though leans heavily towards practical rather than decorative. Vaughan's eyes are a bright blue, hidden behind a perpetual, heavy-lidded squint. A small scar nicks the cheekbone below his right eye, but otherwise he appears to be in good health if not good spirits.

History

None who came through the calamity escaped unscathed, and Vaughan is no special exception. Mere moons after the events of that terrible time, he left the only home he had ever known in Gridania and retreated to the very edge of The Black Shroud to be by himself. A chance meeting with a young opportunistic thief made him realise how deeply his outlook on life had plummeted, and determined to remake himself anew, he set out on a journey with no destination in mind. Accepting the challenges and trials he faced with a kind of detached resignation.

His wandering eventually led him to Ul'dah, and his nature to the refugee camps where he felt his training and skills could be put to the best use. Before long, Vaughan was approached by a merchant businessman in the Apothecary trade who sought someone with the Elezen's knowledge to add endorsement to his ever-increasing line of healing and wellness products. Vaughan accepted the offer, and became an employee of Dietrich Dracht Senior. While he still devoted himself to the care of those camped outside Ul'dah's gates, he was the believable, reserved healer who would also promote Dracht's goods to the more affluent residents within. This arrangement continued for some time before recently coming to a sudden end for reasons unknown.

Since the end of his arrangement with Dracht Senior, Vaughan can often be found in the company of the merchant's son, Dietrich Dracht Junior, and a pale haired Miqo'te by the name of Jhae'li Vyen. At Dietrich's urging, Vaughan signed on as part of the Ul'dahn military, but lacks the enthusiasm preferable for the role.
