Velrithe Jorogumo is a travelling harvest witch specializing in making other living things wither so that the land may flourish.
Specializing in hexes and curses, she bills her services as selling 'good luck' and 'bad luck.' No job is too grisly or too small. She also advertises hex removal and curse lifting... at a premium.
Despite the grim nature of her work and oftentimes strict appearance, she seems to maintain a cheerful outlook on life.

Biography

Having never known her mother, Velrithe was raised in the dark recesses of the Black Shroud by her aunt Bathory. Under Bathory’s tutelage, Velrithe was inducted into the practice of witchcraft. Together, they communed with the elements of the Black Shroud and worked tirelessly to maintain nature’s balance within the woods.
Velrithe never shared her aunt’s distrust toward the conjurers of Gridania until one month when Bathory never found her way home. After waiting days for her return, Velrithe opted to venture past the woods to inquire about her aunt’s whereabouts in a nearby settlement. An unfortunate bout of naivety caused her to be honest about her identity as a harvest witch, an action which resulted in a small unit of Wood Wailers running her out of Bentbranch Meadows. They followed her to her cabin, which she saw was already under investigation by a pair of conjurers.
She ran past, never stopping to catch her breath until she crossed the border into Thanalan.
Whispers of her unsavory craft quickly spread through Ul'dah. Wealthy merchants requested discrete meetings wanting to curse their competition with bad luck or ill fortune. Before long, Velrithe had created a new market for herself to tap into: curse lifting and hex removal. By hiking up the prices for her new services, Velrithe quickly became a rich woman off of clearing the misfortune that she herself had wrought.
Despite her successes in commerce, she regrets that she was never able to locate her aunt on further visits to The Black Shroud. With the last of her family gone she desperately clings to any lead that may help her understand anything about her family's ancestry, especially in regards to her mother.

Goals

On Ancestry: Velrithe has never known her own family, but her aunt has told her vague, magical, and downright impossible stories about her ancestors. Velrithe seeks any opportunity to learn more about them and their movements across Eorzea, hoping to discover the origins of her line.
Another Day, Another Gil: Spreading misery is its own reward. Slinging a hex or a curse keeps Velrithe in a good mood. She doesn't find lifting curses or removing hexes to be any fun, but the weak and the desperate will pay nearly any price for what they perceive to be a mandatory service.
The Rest of Her Days: Velrithe dreams of retirement: leaning her head on her hand from her throne in a dark mansion hidden away by the forest; a legion of handsome butlers and beautiful maids on her payroll serving her every whim.
