In General

Xiao Ninako is an eloquent Keeper of the Moon with a fiery spirit and a burning desire for knowledge. Bound in trade to the services of entertainment and healing, she is driven by wanderlust to discover what Eorzea has to offer - while also offering what she can in return to help those affected deeply by the Calamity.

Services Rendered to the Community:

  • Physical Healing (Medicinal and Magical)
  • General Stress Relief
  • Tasteful Entertainment (Social and Private)

Appearance

Savage grace and youthful beauty combined to form this elegant specimen, worthy of the name of her kin. The timbre of the Miqo'te's voice betrayed a spirit of independence, confident, yet smoky in its undertones; coupled with her classy demeanor and smooth charisma, these things made her a bright gem in conversations. There were also many subtle features of the female which lent a hint of natural sensuality to her presence, including her scent: a sumptuous blend of pumpkin buttercream warmed with notes of crisp woodsmoke.

Diminutive in stature with a svelte frame, Xiao's feminine hourglass figure supported ample curves and slender muscle shaped by the physical activities of a dancer. Her movements were graceful and fluid, feline in their carefree lack of haste.

The exotic features of the Miqo'te were present also, unmistakable. Triangular ears with fluffy fur at their bases protruded from her head, attentive and expressive, tuned to the most subtle of sounds; prominent canines rendered even the most well-meaning grin into something almost unnerving, subtly dangerous to those unaccustomed to the sight; and of course, no oversight could be made for her long, slender tail. It ended in a curling plume of fur uncommon for her sort, and its range of motion made the extension a valuable addition to her articulate nature.

Despite a life walking by moonlight away from the sun, her skin was dark as chocolate and smoother still in complexion, lightly freckled atop her more rounded surfaces. That soft tapestry was free of scars, marked only with a few tribal slashes on the frame of her face.

The woman's physiognomy was striking. Expressive eyes of a deep amber flecked with brighter gold gleamed wolf-bright from behind thick, camel-like lashes. The almond-shaped orbs were set above a gentle aquiline nose and luscious, full lips, bringing together the comely charm of her heart-shaped face. What little paint she wore for beauty consisted of colorless lipshine to add gloss to the plush tiers, and sparkling powder of vibrant yellow shades to emphasize her eyes.

The cotton silk of the Keeper's hair was white as moonlight, braided back at the temples and long enough to hug her shoulders in an elegant fan, slightly curled at the ends. Here and there, a flash of blond could be seen where fashionable highlights had been dyed into the strands. It was rarely styled, but on those occasions, Xiao piled it high, letting the tresses flow freely about her nape in classical, elegant fashions. Those parts of her which were adorned with glossy fur were washed in the same pearlescent colors, pure white with a silken sheen.

Fashion

Typically garbed in clothing of Keeper styles, it was no rare thing to see Xiao in the fashions of other races. Her taste leaned toward brighter colors like yellow and orange, but equally common were subdued creams and beige hues. The styles had a tendency to reflect the climate she found herself in. Clearly, she was not shy about her love for clothing and experimenting on the subject.

While her appearance was ever-changing, one detail remained fixed. A decorative wooden piece, elegantly carved with swirling patterns and joined by a long feather, rose from a silver base adorned with a red gem: this hairpin was a valued treasure that could be located on her person at all times.

Personality

Beneficial Traits: Confident; Optimistic; Clever; Eloquent

Neutral Traits: Gullible; Naive

Detrimental Traits: Bottles Anger; Vindictive; Prone to Extended Grudges

This Miqo'te is a gentle creature behind any front of fortitude she might erect, and prone to a genial disposition. Charismatic and bright, she exudes a mysterious charm which many take notice of and respond to positively. She is cordial, but always easy to smile and laugh, and leans toward optimistic tendencies of thought.

Xiao's illiteracy does little to hinder her mental strength: she has an intelligent mind, eager and quick to learn. Having assimilated an eloquent manner of speaking in her travels, she articulates herself well despite being unable to read the definitions of what she is saying.

While she takes caution with most situations, the femme is also very gullible, far too easily-trusting. Without an extensive knowledge of the world beyond what teachings have been imparted to her through word-of-mouth or a mentor's warnings, many less savory concepts are quite foreign to her, and thus tend to be more painful and confusing when encountered. It is likely she will suffer many hardships with dishonest individuals in the future.

There are dark sides to every cloud, no matter how richly lined with silver, but the Keeper does her best to keep the negativity sealed within. Xiao is vindictive to a fault, especially in regards to those who deceive her; this, coupled with her tendency to bottle anger, makes her grudges quite long-lived.

Combat

Xiao is non-confrontational and despises unnecessary violence, with the exception of sparring events. Faced with hostile situations, she does what she can to disable her opponent and escape - when alone. In the event of protecting another, the necessity for her flighty instincts becomes apparent in her aggression. She is exceptionally prone to losing herself in the moment when there is something precious to be kept safe, and her strong affinity with nature immediately becomes problematic for the offending party in an intimately offensive way.

Strengths:

  • Conjuration: Utilizes manipulation of mental faculties to summon forth energies from the natural elements of the world to defensively disable and disrupt opponents, and to offensively beat aggressive nitwits with power not unlike the fist of an angry god.
  • Agility: Noted to prefer metaphysical confrontation over physical confrontation. When the latter is unavoidable, she will respond appropriately in whatever way she can to get away. Relies heavily on speed and maneuverability for evasion tactics.

Weaknesses:

  • Physical Combat: Built for speed and not for strength, physical combat is definitely a weakness for Xiao. She has the necessary physical capabilities to achieve much in terms of agility, but when faced with an individual bearing down on her in a very close sense, her only defense lies in her magic.

History

What can be said? Life, as the lady would offer in her optimistic (yet understated) manner, is life, and hers is just as fascinating and full of wonder as anyone else's!

After leaving the safety and security of her clan, Xiao sought out to learn about the world around her; she still hasn't quite yet figured out what she wants to do with herself beyond offering what aid and comfort she can to the weary hearts of those who need it. A Keeper educated in the arts of traditional arts and entertainment, and healing through natural remedies with the application of subtle conjury, she moves from one area to another, carrying with her the rich culture of the Keepers of the Moon to share with others as she learns in kind. She has made many a tavern and trauma ward brighter with her charisma and charming bedside manner.

There is no one place she stays in for long in her travels between Thanalan and the Shroud. Professed of a love for Gridania despite her cultural upbringing, she has taken to city life rather well and is as much at home among the buildings as she is within the trees. This makes her association with "Outsiders" civil as well; she is more curious and fascinated by them than mistrusting.

Given her nomadic tendencies, it is an easy thing to spot her between one place or the other, and she often makes trips specifically for the purpose of tea ceremonies or healing therapies for mental and physical health.

Relations

Romantic Interest Platonic Love Good Standing Poor Standing
Aya Foxheart : Heard of through word-of-mouth, the rumors of her cheerful service and exceptional cookies were what brought Xiao to Ul'dah in the first place! The Miqo'te was quite pleased to have the rumors confirmed on both accounts.
Talis Nenmyr : An adventurer Xiao encountered in the Quicksand who was kind enough to buy her a cookie and a glass of milk; later, an alcoholic beverage was added to that tab, the name of which she doesn't recall. His attitude was infectiously genial - so entertained was she by the conversation that she forgot to even thank him, and means to do so in the future!
Kaiya Ailbhe : A personable individual whose trade lies in research and people-meeting. Xiao considered her well-informed and easy to speak with. Their brief conversation in the Quicksand was rather enjoyable, and left a good impression on the Keeper.
Sylas Peregrine : Introduced as simply 'Sylas', Xiao made the acquaintance of this individual at the Apkallu Falls in Gridania. Despite the rain that unfortunately ruined one of her favorite skirts, the conversation they had was interesting and delightful; she hopes to speak at length with the outsider in the future, especially with his enigmatic ways of answering questions that only further sparks her curiosity of the world and its workings.
