Biography

Yomi grew up in Doma, to a clan of Shinobi. From the day she could read and write she was trained in the arts of Ninjutsu and all skills associated with it. Blending in, disguising, infiltration, bladework, pyrotechnics and later also the use of mudra. Once she turned 19, Yomi became affiliated with a young doman noble, who became the lady that Yomi pledged her blades to and aided her in attaining a position of power.
She relocated to her lady's village in the far mountains to serve as her retainer. Due to the distrust that many people hold of the shinobi, Yomi began training with another retainer of her lady in order to put on a fitting disguise of a samurai. Which began as a necessity quickly became a passion for her, and her training with the Katana occupied most of her free, available time.
When the Doman rebellion began, her lady chose to support it, despite Yomis incessant and continued pleas not to. She saw it as a lost cause and a sure path to death. While her new home began to prepare its defenses and entrenchment, Yomi devised a plan to at the very least save her lieges' life, as well as her own.
Under the cloak of night she left her home and met with garlean units that were marching near her home, and proposed a simple deal: The location of their village, as well as her weakening the defenses from the inside, in return for her life and that of her "loved one". A few days later, on the agreed date she set out in the thick of night. Silently she disposed of most of the guards stationed around the village, who did not expect their enemy to already be past their defenses, and carried her liege, who she had knocked out with sleep-inducing toxins that she had put into her evening tea, out of the village along with as many goods and rations they would need on their exodus.
On their travel Yomi extended her ladies' sleep further and further, until they were already on the high seas aboard a small smugglers ship, who Yomi had bribed with most of the villages money that she had taken along. Her liege was furious, disgusted with her actions and her betrayal, which only was lessened by the aftermath of the toxins Yomi had used to put her to sleep for countless days, as well as sickness that she contracted on their travel across the sea.
Before they reached the shores of Eorzea, her liege had passed away, with her last words being a command for Yomi to return and to liberate Doma, giving her life for it if she had to, and a curse on her. She burried her liege near Limsa Lominsa, where they had landed.
In this new and foreign land Yomi again took on the guise of a Samurai, though altered it to now reflect that of a ronin, cynical and crestfallen, yet with a last modicum of pride. A subtle, clear reflection of her usually repressed emotions. She works as an independant Adventurer and tries to avoid other refugees, as well as general talk about her homeland as to not draw attention to herself. She also stopped introducing herself as Izayoi, the old name she had worn in the village of her liege and acted under, and instead goes by her birth name, Yomi.
She has not forgotten or cast away the last order she received from her liege. She struggles as to what to make of it. Although all her life and upbringing taught her to obey without question, deep within she hears a second voice, intently telling her to cast that away, and to finally live for herself...
