Appearance

Zutoto is a short, slightly plump, young Lalafell woman. Her hair is constantly changing, but usually retains the dark blue color she's settled on for it. She loves experimenting with her appearance, perhaps because normally she has a rather typical body for a Lalafell woman. Her skin is kept soft and free of many blemishes (though she avoids the creepy, doll like, perfection some her age attempt), her hair is clean and usually in some elaborate styling. All in all it's fairly clear that her trades, while far from leisurely and lazy, don't exactly put her on the front lines of combat. She favors light weight robes that hang a bit loose on her, allowing for quick movement more than pure defense. In her mind if she's relying on her robes to block for her she should have been faster to dodge out of the way. She likes bright colors, and elaborate hats.

History

Zutoto was born in a humble inn in La Noscea's Moraby Bay. The oldest of four children of a fisherman and his wife who ran the inn and its kitchen, she always felt that she wanted more than her simple, stable, life. She spent most of her life learning from her parents their trades, expecting to simply take over for one when she was grown enough, but in secret she studied far more than recipe books and fishing guides. Her family were simple folks, her father learned to read in the navy and her mother could do enough to cook and take orders with, but none of her siblings of the proper age showed any real interest in more than the basics. Zutoto, though, devoured books. She read anything she could get her hands on, and in time, began to read greater tomes. She read arcane books, and in her own self training she found herself blessed with a natural affinity for them.

This was a sign, to her, a message from the gods that she couldn't ignore, she was meant for more. She simply left one day, not wanting to 'waste time', in truth avoiding tearful goodbyes that she feared would keep her in place. She sent a letter when she arrived in Limsa Lominsa that she was fine and explaining her goals. Her parents, while hurt that she left the way she did, were supportive of her, encouraging her to follow her own path and assuring her the inn would be there whenever she wanted to come back.

From there she spent time training, both in the arcane arts and in her cooking and fishing, having never given either of those arts up either. In her mind they were all linked. Cooking centered her mind, her spellbooks often doubled as recipe books, they both used formulas and such, after all. Fishing calmed her, as she found her knack for destruction magic she worried that it meant something bad about her, that she was like the 'black mages' of old that gave in to their power at all costs. In her mind as long as she could enjoy a day of fishing quietly, doing nothing else, her mind was still stable.

Her skills were further honed later, when she joined a small pirate crew. Privateers, really, they fought the truly brutal pirates while not having the restrictions of the proper military. It was on that ship, the Sea Dragon, that she truly experienced battle, and life or death situations. She killed more than a couple other pirates, and saw friends meet similar fates. Her term on the ship was short, but it taught her a great deal about the realities of adventure and glory. If anything, though, it only strengthened her resolve to become greater. When so many are dying for so little, in her mind it was cowardly of her to do anything but explore the full depths of her power. She returned to Limsa Lominsa at that, ready to join the proper war campaigns and develop herself further.

Personality

With her recent history, one would be fair to assume Zutoto was hardened by her life at sea. If anything, though, she's become even more cheery and sociable since then. She experienced death for the first time there, in the real sense, and it filled her with the desire to live life as best she can, as if the next morning she'd be struck down by a stray axe or cannon. She loves jokes, and games, as well as the nicer things in life she can afford. More importantly, though, she loves sharing those things with others. She believes everyone has something to teach, and she wants to learn all she can, so she's eager to meet new people and explore new cultures.

At first glance it'd be easy to take her for a rural rube, but despite believing the best in people when she can, she knows that that assumption can be quite wrong in places. She's driven, and dedicated, not tolerating any insults to herself or her friends. She may not be prone to violence, but pushing her buttons often can result in shouting and angry lectures.
