Etymology

Bodiford

The family name, Bodiford, is one of the oldest Hyur names of Eorzea. It was originally a name for a person who worked as a coppersmith or a dealer in baterie, which is a term for beaten copper or brassware. The surname, Bodiford, is possibly derived from the word bateor, meaning one who beats, a term which has been applied to a beater of cloth or fuller. The surname may also be a short form of the word orbatour, which means a beater of gold. Variations of the surname include: Batsford, Batesford, Batisford, Botsford, Botsforth, and many more.

History

The Bodiford ancestors came to Eorzea during the first great Hyur migratory wave. Considering their trade skills specialized in metalworking and smithing, they naturally settled in the city-state of Ul'dah. It seemed their best chance of success based on the city's prominence and wealth, as well as it's abundant mineral resources. Adam's great, great, great, great...etc, grandfather was actually one of the founding members of the original Goldsmiths' Guild. His father, following in the family business, was no doubt a highly skilled and successful Goldsmith.

Adam was always a care-free spirit never wanting for anything. Most that know him wouldn't go so far as to call him "spoiled", but he definitely didn't have a firm grasp on the concept of work. Concerned by not seeing a clear path Fearing that their wealthy lifestyle might somehow corrupt their son's , Adam's parents decided to cut him off at the age of

 spent most of her teenage years learning about the many disciplines of magic.  Having witnessed firsthand the mass devastation and horror wrought upon her homeland by Magitek, she developed a strong desire to use the power of Aether to help heal and protect rather than destroy.  Given her kind and gentle disposition, she also gained a love of nature and of all it's creatures.    

Personality

As her name implies, Kiyo is as clean and pure on the inside as she is on the outside. She is a very spiritual person who has high standards when it comes to morality. Many might consider her views on life to be more traditional or conservative, but her compassionate nature prevents her from looking down on those who might believe or act differently. Be that as it may, she prefers to surround herself with positive influences who would lift her up rather than try to bring her down.

Her mind is as bright as the glow from her eyes. At this phase in her life she is focused on learning and gaining all the knowledge and skills she can, which doesn't leave much time for socializing. Your first impression of her might be that she is shy or self-absorbed (you'd be very lucky if you get little more than a smile or nod). However, that is not the case. She is just very focused on her goals and accomplishing her mission.

Kiyo considers herself to be an "Elect Lady" who stands for truth and righteousness. Her hope is that others will see her light and example and join her on her quest to defeat evil and tyranny.

Career Goals

One of Adam's favorite pastimes as a youth was spectating at the many Ul'dahn fighting arenas. So naturally, he has always aspired to become a great gladiator.

An ambitious young lass, Kiyo promised herself at an early age that one day she would grow up to become an Adventurer and find a way to provide a better life for her family. While her ultimate aspiration is to become a White Mage, she loves learning and hopes to one-day master all of the trades. She is currently studying Arcanism and is working towards becoming a Summoner.
