Overview

Melodie Valtyr is a female Elezen Moneterist born and raised in the city-state of Ul’dah. Born poor, she inherited a great deal of money and used it to begin her rise to prominence as a merchant, eventually becoming known by her rivals as “the Merchant Queen of Ul’dah” as a spiteful joke.

When her wealth began to reach a pinnacle surpassing that of most members of the Syndicate, Melodie began a gentrification project, buying a great deal of property and giving it to select individuals.

This caught the attention of the Syndicate, resulting in their eventual persecution of Melodie, stripping her of her wealth and property by force. Over the course of the next year, Melodie and her family turned themselves into Lalafells to hide from their many enemies while slowly rebuilding from nothing.

One year later, Melodie and her family built back up from nothing to a travelling merchant caravan under the name “Ironmongers.”

Little did they know that feelings would quickly develop, causing them to elope, keeping their relationship secret for several months until they decided to marry officially, turning into the first known wife and the first person to have receive the Valtyr name.

Hunger. The defining factor that brought this odd couple together. The moment Melodie found the dusky Lalafell stealing food from her house, she knew that she could not let her out on the streets. Hiring her to become her assistant and her bodyguard, Melodie developed an intense attachment because of her origins, and swore to protect her until death do them part.

Shyness, perhaps the first thing that Melodie noticed on the exotic woman, who was barely able to look into her eyes. The past of the woman hitting close to home with the own origins of the Merchant, she took her in as her bodyguard, and began training her in the basic rules of high society, eventually discovering the passion that Ashley had for her, accepting her feelings by giving her the Valtyr name.

And Melodie took advantage of it, using the woman's desires to achieve her goal, but somewhere along the way she found herself attracted to the undying dedication of the businesswoman, to the point where she accepted her as a Valtyr.

Passion. That's the only word that came up to Melodie's mind as she saw the Engineer working her art. She saw how the unusually quiet woman poured herself in her work, reminding her of herself. Eventually hiring her as an Engineer for the Caravan. As they worked together, Milulu and Melodie grew closer together, to the point were Melodie allowed for her to wear the Valtyr name.

The Retainer that enjoyed observing Melodie from the sidelines, keeping her emotions in check as she did her best to keep Melodie pleased by performing her duties perfectly. Living life day to day with Melodie and the other Valtyr as she slowly opened up about her feelings. Melodie being the only one who is kept in the dark about the feelings of the dedicated woman.
