- K'naji Tia -
THE THANALAN STRAY
"I much prefer the quiet life."
Hailing from Southern Thanalan, K'naji is a dissatisfied tia trying to find his place in the world. He is a fervent student of the fist and the bow, lending his skills to whoever needs him. As a country boy from the desert, there is much of Eorzea and beyond he has yet to experience for himself.
The tia life is not always a peaceful one, but he will take fate as it falls into his lap.

"At least The Wanderer will have my back."
Towards the edge of the Sagolii Desert resides the Drifters, a Hipparion Seeker tribe, where K’naji was born and raised. They are known for their perhaps unhealthy obsession with competitiveness, but it made them a strong and determined people, well tested by the elements and fearful of nothing.
If you were born a tia, you were expected to start training to challenge the nunh as soon as you came of age. Until the big day, young tia tribe-wide were pushed to fight with each other. Strength, agility, and poise were highly valued among them, and every boy’s dream was to become nunh. K’naji came to know the nunh who sired him as an arrogant man, but a strong one who remained undefeated despite his numerous challengers.
As a child, K’naji possessed strength - but neither patience nor precision. The other tia surpassed him with age despite being promising in his early years. His position as favourite was lost over time, but pressure from the other children and elders remained. He would show them, he thought.
In comparison to the other tia, he barely held his own against the nunh. K’naji stood up to fight again and again despite having lost, refusing to give up. Doing so only further humiliated him in front of the entire tribe, and brought on spite from his peers and elders. Training for the second attempt was never the same, nor was the third, or the subsequent ones after that. In his anger and embarrassment, K’naji left on the next trader’s caravan for Ul’dah and a new life.
He arrived in the city with nothing but the clothes on his back, a worn pair of hora, and a dejected spirit. With his humiliating losses at the forefront of his memory, it wasn't surprising at all that he gravitated towards the Pugilist’s Guild when he got there. Hamon was incredibly piqued by his potential, though it was clear to him that there was a deep bitterness inside K’naji. It took some time for him to accept help from Hamon and his contacts, still easing out of the attitude he left his tribe with - that he could make it out here on his own.
He eventually was able to get off the streets, earning money from selling game and other ventures in Thanalan. It gave K’naji a lot of time and space to think over why he ran to Ul’dah in the first place. He came to the revelation that becoming nunh was never something he wanted to do himself. He had just accepted it as a dream of his own without questioning his own desire for it. Learning that aiming for nunh was not everything he could offer the world was perhaps, the best wisdom he could have found.
Drifters of the Palm
It is well known to the Drifters that generations ago, their forefather and some females from the home tribe made their way from Gyr Abania to find a place for themselves, deciding to settle in the deserts of Ul’dah. The bloodline of this original nunh has since thinned due to a previous nunh being half-Ul’dahn.
They live on a south-facing cliff of the Sagolii Desert, the Sun’s Hand. From anywhere in that area, it is possible to see the path of the sun through the sky from dawn till dusk. The tribe see the sun cycle as the daily opening and closing of Azeyma’s fan, held by the cliff directly under it. The original nunh named his new home after such an interpretation of its geographical features. Being semi-nomadic they spend their lives in tents, moving around the Sun’s Hand according to the migration of wildlife.
While their patron deity is Azeyma like most Keeper tribes, minor patronage is also given to Rhalgr and Nald’thal, reflections of the tribe’s mixed heritage. It is not commonplace for one to follow Azeyma only - most of the tribe follow one or both the minor deities.
The tribe consists of archers, pugilists and rogues. Quick hunters and fighters sustain the tribe’s needs and help protect it from the Amalj’aa and roaming desert creatures. Speed and lethality are prized in hunts, and are taught to the tribe children from a young age. Most of the Miqo’te begin with pugilism, before branching out into other disciplines.
Tia are instilled from young with a strong competitiveness to become the next nunh. Boys from as young as eight will graduate from hunting training to battle practice, pitting themselves against each other in hand to hand combat - their future opponents in taking the coveted position of nunh. A tia’s first challenge is taken in the moon they turn fifteen, and subsequent challenges can be undertaken once a moon after that.
You may see some Drifters passing through Nald’s Reflection and Little Ala Mhigo on their way north to Ul’dah. Traders from Ul’dah come infrequently, so the tribe is mostly self sustaining. Bartering is used instead of currency, so they are sure to bring goods with them to sell for coinage when they travel.
"Am I really like that?"
K’naji’s face and first impressions usually betray who he is inside. Most people would say he seems disinterested in matters, if he is not directly involved. However a smile is usually a quip away, and a friendship closer than one might think. Up close and personal he is not as scary as his demeanour seems to say he is.
Going beyond his quiet exterior, K’naji is actually quite easy to get acquainted with. He is friendly on a surface level, but when it comes down to more personal matters, he clams up. If you place value in knowing such matters about friends, a relationship with him may feel shallow, when you take a step back. The way he was raised made him distrusting of others, relying only on himself, and judging himself quite harshly in the process. It will take a few blows until he finally caves in, to accept help from the other people in his life.
K’naji is learning to be kind, finding he is opening up in response to the new world around him. With the freedom away from home he is able to be himself, smiling more, laughing more, being free to make more mistakes. Social life has brought out the cheery, upbeat side of himself, though he is learning his quick temper and sharp tongue does not always rub off well on others.

"Nothing to see here."
K’naji is by all means, fairly ordinary. His slightly above average height and fierce golden eyes are things he inherited from his nunh, his sharp face and dark hair from his biological mother. His tail is considered long by his tribe’s standards, and a prized trait.
His hair used to be long, once, following his mother, and also to hide the bruises and injuries from the other children in their training days. He has taken to cutting it shorter since he left for Ul’dah, but not too short. Too shaven and he would think of his father if he were to look in a mirror.
On his temples are tribe tattoos, three claw like shapes on each side, in a coral red colour. It is said the tattoo colours have meaning within the tribe, but no outsider is privy to that information.
He favours loose, ornate fashions from Ul’dah, but he will take to anything that allows his hands and wrists to move freely. He finds he looks best in greens, or bold colours. Blacks and whites are too plain for him, he says. He is partial to a good-looking piece of jewellery, especially earrings.
"Trust me, I've met stranger."

NPC
K’joku Nunh( ♥ )( NPC ) - Sire
An arrogant Miqo’te who loves nothing but goading on his kits to try and take him on. Tribe rumour says he has always been like that, but tribe culture accepts his attitude as beneficial. His spite and pride over weaker tia are what drove K’naji away from the tribe. He has no respect for him and would rather never have to deal with him ever again.
K’asa Suuk( ♥ )( NPC ) - Mother
With an almost queenly demeanour, K’asa usually leads the hunts within the tribe. She instilled a deep love for it within K’naji from a young age. She is somewhat strict but forgiving. The importance of her role in the tribe means she hasn't been able to leave to find him, although she would very much like to. They miss each other very much.

A Wildwood of few words who took K’naji in as a favour to Hamon of the Pugilist’s Guild. He has been ‘housing’ him for some time in his apartment in the Mist, sometimes stepping in to guide him in his chosen fighting disciplines, or giving advice. K’naji finds him awkward but endearing, and a standard of adventurer he’d like to be someday.
K’naji finds her nice company, a bard who is as quick on her feet as she is in wit. She seems passionate about everything she does - and everyone she meets.
As a fairly cheeky Plainsfolk of the Conjurer’s Guild who is still learning the healing arts, K’naji appreciates her effort for her craft and her company - when she is not too close.

Hello! You can call me Kishi. I am an illustrator and animator when I'm not mucking around in Eorzea. My usual handle is kishi-san, so if you recognise that, hello again.
OOC INFORMATION
Personal RP Limits
■ I will playmature content and themes (violence, drug / alcohol use) as long as they're logical in a plot-driven encounter. Coarse and excessive language. Temporary injury and incapacitation. Temporary imprisonment. Most walk-up encounters.
■ Ask about sparring, headcanons, past relationships, K clan shenanigans.
■ I won't play permanent character death, injury or disfigurement. I won't play smut or anything overtly sexual (not my thing).
Disclaimer
■ I have never RP'd in an MMO community before, so bear with me.
■ If an aspect of RP makes you uncomfortable in a scene we're playing, please send me a /tell, letting me know. Communication is very important, more important than potentially keeping immersion.
■ My log-in schedule can be irregular - if this whole RP thing kicks off for me I will devise some way to work around that and manage my RPs outside of the game as well (at this stage maybe Discord?)
CHARACTER TIDBITS
Miscellaneous Info
Things you never really need to know, but will be told anyway.
■ The Sagolii was all he knew for a while, so he takes a bit longer than others to get accustomed to the climates of other places.
■ K’naji was very close to his biological mother when he was back in the clan, but still hasn’t mustered up the courage to return to see her.
■ He is immediately wary and skeptical about nunh he meets due to his very narrow range of experiences with his own. He opens up once he finds out otherwise.
■ His chocobo’s name is Qiko (CHEE-ko).
■ He isn't exactly 5 fulms 7 ilms, but a tiny bit shorter than that. He's bitter he will likely never reach the full number.
■ Tends not to introduce himself with Tia attached to his name, and sometimes may leave out his tribe letter - so usually Naji, or K’naji.
Potential Plot Hooks
■ Goes game hunting for a price.
■ Climbs buildings and other things whenever, wherever he feels like.
■ Text, text, text, text.
