She often uses the recoil from the shots more as momentum to deflect attacks from others with the barrel, occasionally hooking others weapons with the handle of her guns. She refuses to speak to where she learned this skillset, and if people catch on or find it familiar, she often deflects the conversation elsewhere. |

Her family spent hours peddling their wares at the Sapphire Exchange with "Lockhart's Goods and Sundries, a family-owned store specializing in foodstuff and equipment necessary to brace the warm Thanalan climate. Barely making ends meat, she grew up alongside her brother, Troy, in relative poverty. This was only emphasized by the various thugs and families demanding protection money from the Lockhart's, furthering their descent in to the underbelly of society.

[4-8] Giselle attended a school comprised entirely of impoverished families, and due to her scrawny, slim nature, was often picked on by both the students and teachers. She kept her head low and quiet during most of these years.

[9-15] Giselle became slowly fed up with the lifestyle her family was living, and sought alternative options. She discovered that it would appear many of the "families" requesting protection money don't appear to verify any of the money coming in or out. She decided to spend her time away from school swindling down families for their money under the disguise of a "crime family lackey", pocketing the money for herself for a time. Eventually the family came searching, and she was caught. Instead of giving up, she opted to cut them in a portion of the profits in exchange for them looking the other way, and they subsequently agreed. She neglected to tell her brother or parents of this information, and kept her profits close to her chest, using them to improve her own quality of life.

[16-18] Giselle's family discovered her tactics, and shunned her for it. The Lockhart's were known amongst the slums as one of the few decent families, and she soiled the name. Her brother, Troy, began working with the Flames to help with the crime within Ul'dah. Her family disliked the path she chose, but still cared for their daughter. She was told she was to not practice her ways under their roof, so she began staying at the quicksand indefinitely, seeing her parents often. On occasion, she worked within the Quicksand under the table, serving drinks and food to patrons.
|

Due to her rapport with several families, from providing them more than enough "protection money" from her endeavors, she began assisting them in the import and export of illegal drugs and substances to Kugane. Due to her desire to fit in with those who called the shots, it is this time she took up her several-year addiction to Cigars.

[19] Giselle begins helping the families from Ul'dah expand their skills in Kugane. She begins swindling tourists and tradesmen in an attempt to begin getting her name out there. It is around this time she is approached by a young Au Ra man, formally dressed and donning an elegant black and gold cane, who confronts her on trying to expand her network where it doesn't belong. Initially worried, she quickly backs away from the trade, but the Au Ra man confronted her again on another trip, stating he merely wished to help her further her skills, not hinder them.

[20-23] Giselle learns to utilize firearms and magi-tek from the Au Ra man, and the two quickly make waves around Kugane and Shirogane before heading back to Eorzea. Working side-by-side, Giselle quickly amassed reputation as the 'middle-woman' of Eorzea's underworld, playing neither side wholly. She becomes involved once again in Ul'dah's drug trade and brothel-ring, Gridania's Botanists' creation and distribution of illegal alchemical ingredients, and the Limsan pirate trade. Though she does not stick around long enough to amass enough notoriety to become a target.

[24-25] Giselle is tricked by the Au Ra man in to unwillingly sign up for the confederacy and is left to her own devices as her contacts and experience falls apart in front of her. Forced to worth to uphold the Ruby Tithe, she worked with the men for almost a year and a half, as she was told leaving would be punishable by death.

[26-28] Giselle manages to escape the Confederacy quietly, sneaking upon a ship bound for Eorzea soil. She vows never to enter Doman waters again for fear of death.

|
