Biography

(Eloise was born and raised in Ishgard. When she came of age, she joined the city-state's military. Her combat prowess guaranteed posts outside the city, and while she held true to the religion of her people, the exposure to merchants and other outsiders opened her mind and heart a little. Eventually she befriended a few outsiders and kept in touch with them as well as she could.

When her friends began writing of the war with the Garlean Empire, Eloise was torn between remaining at her post where duty demanded she be and abandoning it to aid Eorzea. After several weeks and letters of increasingly-dire news she wrote a letter of apology to her husband and child and left Coerthas.)

Eloise woke up a few days after the Calamity in a field clinic with no memory of who or where she was or what had happened. The clinic healer, Renne Poisson, noted in her records that the hyur was remarkably calm about it. When sorting through her effects for some hint at her identity, Renne found a name stitched into the hem of her shirt. Eloise joked that apparently she'd had a history of losing shirts. Renne also found an Ishgardian rosary and encouraged Eloise to go to Coerthas and investigate her past once she'd recovered.

Instead, Eloise took on odd jobs helping to clean up debris and clear out bandits and creatures and protect supply caravans. Eventually the string of work led her to Ul'Dah, which she found to her liking and stayed there. Her work occasionally took her out of Thanalan and into the other regions; on one occasion she guarded a scholar to and from Coerthas. She took the opportunity to learn a little about the Ishgardians and attend a service for Halone out of curiosity and because she knew Renne would hound her later as she passed through Gridania. She was unimpressed by their isolationist views, however, and happily returned to Ul'Dah.

She's made no real effort to discover her past due mainly to no real interest, though she will admit being curious about her tattoo. She rarely mentions her amnesia to people, as they get strangely upset about it.

Appearance & Personality

She's well-kept for a mercenary, pale blonde hair cut short to keep it out of her face in combat and brown eyes clear. The scar across her eye is her most visible one, while the tattoo on the opposing cheek is the sole one. When on a job or expecting trouble she wears a suit of plate armor dyed dark red. She claims its this color from the blood of her enemies. In her downtime she wears a sleeveless doublet and black trousers with comfortable shoes. She's rarely ever without her battleaxe.

Laid back to the point of laziness, Eloise can seem more a vagrant than a warrior, but there's no money in the former. She has a long fuse, but once angered she finds it difficult to regain her composure without destroying something with her axe. What she lacks in book knowledge she makes up for with strategy and skill in combat - though some employers feel they could live without the wise-cracking.

She took a liking to the miqo'te and enjoys spending time with him on her off days. ● Annouille Andouillant - A lanky arcanist that doesn't mind Eloise loitering in his house. He's hired her for occasional jobs with his work for the Arcanist Guild and doesn't seem to mind her occasionally stealing his glasses for a dumb joke. ● Avali Nahsra - a friend of T'ahl's, Eloise warmed quickly to the dancer and flirts constantly with her. Nothing serious will come of their fling, but it's fun. ● Torane Carriveau - an elezen sellsword. Eloise felt drawn to her and is always happy to run into Torane in Eorzea, if only for a chance to see her turn such a fetching red. ● Renne Poisson - Renne found and healed Eloise after the Calamity. She's kept in touch with the Elezen and visits when she passes through Gridania, though her concern for Eloise's memory loss gets on her nerves. ● Cicini Cini - A favored client, Eloise often escorts the alchemist on expeditions. Cicini insists on riding on Eloise's shoulder, which the sellsword doesn't mind. ● Edelin Sharp - a strange kid from Ishgard who claims to be Eloise's daughter. After a bit of running and hiding from the kid's chocobo, Eloise returned to Ul'Dah, prepared to meet with her and talk things out. Edelin now sleeps on the sellsword's couch while the two try to work things out. ● Sidonia Caudron - a popular fighter in Ul'Dah's arena and Eloise's ex-girlfriend. Fiery and confident, Sidonia was a lot of fun, but she broke off the relationship when Eloise expressed her wish to make it more serious. Eloise has no hard feelings, and occasionally goes to see the elezen woman's fights.
