A native of Pearl Lane, Kale is a veteran of the Grand Company since Foundation Day, and was a mercenary troop for a decade prior, having done little else but deal with conflict throughout his entire life. These years of warfare have shaped Kale into an unyielding patriot, utterly dedicated to Thanalan and willing to sacrifice almost anything for it. As a result, Kale is an oft-times intense individual with strong convictions, and is very outspoken about how he thinks things should be. Due to her Ishgardian upbringing, Mae readily accepts the stereotypes she has heard about other races, often leaving her wary. She tries not to let this affect her work. Midlanders and Wildwoods of any citizenship seem to avoid this. ■ Gambling. Going in line with her competitive edge, Mae loves to gamble. A little bit too much. Appearance Kale is a Highlander of slightly lesser proportions, although clearly has the presence and physique of a veteran combatant. Many wounds and scars are visible when Kale wears clothing that reveals areas of his torso or other appendages. They are all faded, indicating that conjury or other forms of healing came too late to prevent permanent marking. He is meticulous about his appearance in his belief of maintaining proper military bearing, always shaven, and hair kept short. The man's face has a very defined bone structure. A large nose sticks out between a low brow that gives Kale an almost intense resting expression. Kale's somewhat narrow eyes betrays their copper hue, set above a pair of prominent cheekbones and slightly gaunt cheeks. In turn, these features sit above a distinct jaw and somewhat rounded, jutting chin. His calloused and rough skin is worn from a mixture of age, sun, and battle. The corners of his eyes are creased, and his forehead is a touch wrinkled. A single scar is set across his left cheek, a couple of ilms or so in length. Now living in their estate in Ishgard, she has seen to the household's increase in feline family members. She currently has five. . Theodore Rosenthal ( ♥ ) ( NPC ) - The Family Patriarch Aged 59. Mae's father and now a retired knight, Theodore spends most of his time either playing chess or teaching his grandchildren new card games. He keeps a close eye on his son, and avidly supports his own bid at becoming a knight of Ishgard. Josephine Rosenthal ( ♥) ( NPC ) - The Sweet Mother Aged 57, Josephine is quiet and unassuming. A former lady-in-waiting, she now spends her days stitching up little designs. She speaks in an airy sort of manner. Ophelie Mercer (nee Rosenthal) ( ♥) ( NPC ) - The Eldest Sister Aged 34. A powerhouse of a woman and a knight of Ishgard. She has two very loud sons, and encourages their active natures heartily. Elise Beaulieu (nee Rosenthal) ( ♥) ( NPC ) - The Forever Devoted Aged 32. Sweet and caring, Elise devotes herself to her husband and three children. She keeps the Gods close to her heart, and prays often. Alexi (Alexandre) Rosenthal ( ♥) ( NPC ) - The Cherished Brother Aged 18. The familial heir and a knight's squire, Mae dotes upon her youngest brother. He has a good head on his shoulders and is kind-hearted. PC Afoix Kirent ( ♦ ) - The Surgeon The doctor who taught the surgery part of her medical training. A difficult man to like and even more difficult to please, Mae still managed to survive his teaching methods. Whether wanted or not, she still writes to him. Ruran Vas ( ♦ ) - The Enigmatic Knight An enigmatic knight with a sense of duty that Mae admires. While he often leaves her with more questions than answers, she finds his company pleasant and assuring. Sephora Sirenas ( ● ) - The Songbird A beautifully voiced singer who promises to learn some Ishgardian songs for her next performance at the inn. Mae struggles to fully understand the thick accent, but finds the woman charming. Kuyoh Nhilaali ( ● ) - The Refugee Assumed refugee who looked a little worse for wear. Sweet but defensive, jumpy but willing. Mae took a pair of scissors to her, and freed her from the confines of long hair. This bonding moment doesn't stop Mae from double checking her things after the Miqo'te leaves, however. Temame Kajiya ( ● ) - The Flowergirl A sweet enough little Au Ra who hands out beautiful flowers. The deep blue one gifted to Mae now spends its life pressed in the pages of her journal. She and Kuyoh seem to be friends. Gunnar Croft ( ● ) - The Noble Brute A tall Highlander that serves his homeland with a sense of duty that Mae did not expect. She's aware of a slight sense of disdain from him, but tries not to let it bother her. Cyrus Chambers ( ● ) - Very Dour A friend of Ruran's. Mae gets the sense of being scrutinized by him.
