GENERAL INFORMATION

OLIVER AMARANTH is a Keeper of the Moon that was born and raised in Ul’dah for the first half of his life, but fled to the pirate city of Limsa Lominsa early on. Most of this time was spent alone, but as time went on, he opened up towards others and would eventually become known for his sharp tongue, sharp shot, and love for Au’Ri..

APPEARANCE

Over the twenty-five years of his life lived, Oliver has become a man of many scars. Littered across his body are several slashes, gashes, stabbings; upon his left arm, beneath the shoulder, there's even remnants of what looks to have been a bitemark that very clearly may have taken flesh with it. The worst part of it is, the size of the mouth looks to have originated from a figure far too small to be the beastkin of the world - it came from a person. Of course, in the grand scheme of things, none of these are the most apparent. No, that claim would be taken by the eyepatch over where his right eye once was. If, somehow, you manage to get him to remove it (which you likely won't), all that would lay beneath is an empty cavern, with the right side of his eye socket having been destroyed in whatever claimed his eye to begin with. All things considered, though in theory it may sound quite disgusting, he does keep the area as clean as he can. Given the nature of Eorzea, scars are hardly a rare sight, negating any uniqueness of all but his eyepatch and bite.

As for the rest of the Miqo'te, his height may be considered quite abnormal for his kin. Standing at five fulms, eleven ilms and weighing one-hundred-forty-two ponze, the towering cat has a very lean exterior. From only a glance, given his race and figure, it isn't hard to correctly presume him to be incredibly nimble and agile. When all natural, one would find that he sports a fair amount of lean muscle, though he can hardly be considered strong despite his size. Ebon hair falls from his head, with a portion of a lighter back looking as though it was poorly dyed over to cover up what was likely a bright, flamboyant color. Given the bangs covering his right eye and most of his face, however, any attempt to mask flamboyancy would be for naught. Truth be told, he's entirely okay with such.

Though it physically cannot be seen, a cold aura radiates from the man. With his mood, said cold aura may be felt from a distance, or it may be weak enough to only be translated through touch. The more aetherically attuned one may be, the more likely they are to feel it.

PERSONALITY

A man of many personalities, there are an abundance of first impressions Oliver may make upon those who encounter him. Some may find him to be quite respectful and polite, whereas others may find him to be the horribly snarky to the point of being annoying. Further along, it is entirely possible that, on occasion, the man can be found cold, ruthless and uncaring for the wellbeing of the majority around him. In truth, there is no correct answer on which of these personalities is actually Oliver's. As people grow closer to him, they'll likely begin to see all of these qualities coming together and forming his true persona: he is a man guided mostly by his heart. At the drop of a pin, he can go from being charismatic to being a complete asshole. For the most part, he's mellowed out drastically. Two years were spent overcoming his flaws as a man, and while they linger evermore, he maintains his drive to keep himself from wearing his heart on his sleeve. Again, the longer he's known, the easier it is to discover his true drives.

Make no mistake, however. At his core, he's a salty and sarcastic fellow with a tendency to keep his sappy side hidden to all but his closest companions and loves.

DISLIKES Arrogance. Not that he isn't. Ul'dah. It's a desert. Indecision. He is full of it. Weakness. Specifically his own. Tradition. Carve your own fate. Impressions. He tends to disappoint. Armored Foes. Damn plate, ruining his daggers. Thieves. He'll cut off their hands. Scars. They'll never fade away. Rum. Because his ex loved it.

STRENGTHS Valiant. Even with a greatsword to his neck, he does not falter.. Adaptable. An exceptionally swift learner. Analytical. Within seconds, he can usually read a situation. Agile. Quick on his feet. Smart. Magical Prowess. It's in his blood.

WEAKNESSES Rash. He does what he wants and has scars to prove it. Ruthless. Infuriate him and he'll be relentless. Reliant. His happiness depends on the ones he loves. Self-condemnation. He blames himself for the pain in his heart. Always. Alcoholic. Not the best way to cope.

• Eyepatch: Black and covering his right eye.

• Staff: Even if it isn't visible, he always has his staff on his person. Always.

• Robes: A bit of gray, white, splash of teal on the belt, and mostly black are the robes he wears upon him. Traces of brown remain, though they aren't a part of the clothing itself.

• Hidden Blades: Two hidden at the outer regions of both sides of his legs, and another two hidden within the sleeves of his robe, they are all small and the blades glimmering with a black finish.

• Gil: Carried within a small little pouch, he always has more than enough gil for whatever it is he'll need for the day. Though, to be fair, that typically is only alcohol and food.

• Keys: A variety of keys of all sorts of shapes, sizes, and colors is carried on his person at nearly all times. While one fits the shape of that the rooms in Mizzenmast Inn use, the rest seem quite random.

THAUMATURGY Recently having honed his skills with magicks, Oliver is quite the capable fighter with the all aetherical arts in the realm of thaumaturgy and black magic. Whilst he is physically incapable of producing powerful fire spells, he is incredibly gifted with the use of ice magicks, able to shift the form, direction, and power of the frosty spells at will. Because of his affinity for ice, his aether pool is rapidly regeneration, with him rarely being anywhere near depleted of energy.

DAGGERS Once his most hated choice of weapon, having taken them to the Grindstone once, he found himself in the quarter finals in his very first attempt using them, and soon after, he'd make it all the way to the finals. His swiftness would get the better of the majority of his opponents, though others were taken down with little more than brute force.

BOW + ARROWS For the longest time, Oliver was known for his skill with a bow, displaying incredible feats and just being an overall crackshot with his arrows. After a crushing defeat at the Grindstone, however, he reconsidered his choice of weapon and ultimately drifted away. While he is still quite skilled with the ranged weapon, he is rarely seen with it anymore.

LONGSWORD During his time with Lady Bellatrix the Maddening, the two would often engage in spars. It was to keep him tactical and ready, so she said. Ending up a fairly decent fighter with it, he has the skill to use such a blade, but would never choose it out of his arsenal unless it was absolutely necessary for the situation.. which would mostly come down to there not being any other choices.

Allison Amaranth, mother. ( ✖ ) Oliver’s Thoughts: "I spent so long hoping you'd come around, but even when you did, you were never truly there." Having recently spent another two years of his life searching for a woman who could only be found when causing mayhem within the realm of another, there is little more to say. She took his eye and avoids him. Though he longs for her attention, longs to have the mother he lived without, he inevtiably knows it'll never come. She's abandoned him for the last time.. so he likes to believe..

Allimance Twenty, surrogate brother. ( ● ❖ ) Oliver’s Thoughts: "I hope you'll forgive me, Al. I should have died with you, but I chose to live. Rest easy, my brother. I pray there are fish wherever you are now." Oliver first encountered Al months after he fled to Limsa as a teenager. At first, the two traveled with each other only because Oliver paid him for protection, due to his weaker nature. Yet upon Oliver's growing capability to take care of himself, Al waved the fees and the two ventured Eorzea as friends, rather than associates. To Al, however, he was still protecting the teenage Oliver. In a series of events ending with Oliver nearly being killed by the spear of a dragoon, Al grew an insatiable desire for power and eventually turned to darkness. To protect Oli, so he claimed. This claim was disproved the moment Al struck Oliver, breaking several of his bones and leaving him brittle. When they next met, Oliver shot an arrow through his heart. Despite the forcing of his hand, Oliver still mourned the companion he'd known for eight years. To the end, he was his brother.

Madam Seraphine, No Title Good Enough. ( ● ♥ ♥ 🔒 ) Oliver’s Thoughts: "Sera, how much pain have I caused you in life? Yet all the same, you remain." What started off with death threats eventually turned into casual conversation which spiraled into feelings that Oliver's held for the succubus for a time longer than he'd be willing to admit. Despite this all, given his spiraling relationship with Minox Moks, he had never acted on it; he couldn't, and he was okay with it. Nox made him happy, even if their relationship had been rocky. Now that his former flame is out of the picture, he can and he has acted upon his love for Seraphine, but was bittersweetly reminded of why he had avoided falling for her the first time: she cannot feel romantic love. Two years apart from her and these feelings have only been strengthened, but in his heart he feels he's already hurt her enough. Even if his heart yearns, perhaps it'd better for her if it didn't. Yet he's always been bad at following his own advice.

Sara Miller, The Clone of Sorts. ( ● ♥ 🔒 ) Oliver’s Thoughts: "Sara, you and I.. We're not all that different, are we?" Another person in his life that Oliver started off not all too fond of, he came to quickly grow respect for whom Sara was at the time, that respect shifting along all the way until the both of them entered the void together. Though they shared an intimate moment, it meant little to Oliver than anything more than a moment. After arriving at what wasn't to be their destination, but a destination nonetheless, the two grew apart. Sharing different ideals on relatively important aspects is a wonderful way to split apart.. but when they met once again, he couldn't help but feel as though they understood each other. Even without spoken words.

Mayonaka Bara, Pretty-eyed Raen. ( ● ♥ (?) ♥ ) Oliver’s Thoughts: "Mayonaka Bara - Midnight Rose - May.. It feels nice to talk to someone new." Meeting in Limsa, Oliver approached her and just started talking for the first time in quite a while. He enjoyed their shared words and further enjoyed her massage. He'd like to see her again, but for now, he's just labeling her as an attractive friend that he'd like to spend more time getting to know.

Minox Moks, Former Chaser. ( ● ) Oliver’s Thoughts: "Enjoy your life. You'll be happier withut me, I promise." This would be the end of it. There is no coming back from letting their child die.

Gospel Gestalt, Puppet Maker. ( ● ) Oliver’s Thoughts: "I'm actually sort of rooting for you, Gospel. Even if I don't know if I'll be able to maintain my promise if you're successful." A friend of Sera's, Oliver came to like Gospel fairly quickly. Just as swiftly, he'd see the desire for Sera in the man's eyes. After a conversation about it, even bringing the man to snap and break in his clear morals. Gospel would fight Oliver for her love.. a battle that Oliver was unsure if he is truly even participating in. No matter, Oliver hopes the masked man finds refuge in Sera, be it as a friend or more, though he can't help but feel as though he's seen this situation play out with the woman again and again and again. Maybe he was different?
