As she is now residing in Eorzea the woman has learned to disguise herself, using a mixture of prosthetics and glamour magicks to hide her third eye. Anyone who meets her would see a simple hyur rather than a pure-blooded Garlean, albeit one with very light hair and eyes. She is most commonly found at The Imaginarium, a school run by the mysterious Fabius Dandy. Cold and mysterious, she is most often seen on her own, though sometimes you can see her accompanied by a tall Au Ra, a slender Hyur, or a mangy Miqo'te. APPEARANCE Avidia stands at roughly 5 fulm, 5 ilm. Her body has been hardened through an entire lifetime of combat and training, forming her muscles into iron chords beneath her skin. Her face is elegant and soft, with high, regal cheekbones, a narrow chin, and soft rosebud lips. Her eyes are large and angular, grey orbs that are devoid of any color. Her third eye rests neatly in the middle of her forehead but she covers it up with a simple prosthetic to poise as Eorzean. Everything about her is lightly colored: her skin, her hair, her eyes. She's pale and has platinum blonde hair that borders on white, with slightly darker roots and a few darker streaks that run through it. Her hair itself is short, barely brushing her shoulders, but it's feathered and soft, parting neatly down the middle to frame the sides of her face. In contrast with her light, soft looks Avidia always wears a cold expression of either disinterest or crankiness. Her body is also marred with scars, and many of them. The most noticeable one is the thin one that runs across the bridge of her nose, but it's nowhere near the worst. The worst is on her back, more often than not covered by her clothes: It's huge, spanning over both sides of her back and shoulders, the byproduct of brutal torture and whippings. People have said they resemble wings. There's also the faintest scar around her neck, like noose markings, but that is BARELY noticeable, even if you're trying to see it. Avidia is most comfortable in clothes she can fight in. While in the past she wore uniforms and armor, since arriving in Eorzea she has found she has more of a taste for lighter armor as it lets her move easilier. Her armor of choice consists of grey boiled leather and chainmail. While she's not fighting she can be seen in loose coats and revealing shirts. She prefers short skirts and shorts as they leave her legs unhindered, and also prefers boots over regular shoes. Avidia doesn't wear a whole lot of jewelry, but she does wear chokers and necklaces to cover up the faint scar on her neck. Other than that there's little aesthetic adornments for her, just practical ones. PERSONALITY Cold. Aloof. Fierce. Avidia doesn't talk much, and when she does she reveals her innermost thoughts and emotions even less. She holds all her cards extremely close because she's found that she won't get hurt - or cause others to get hurt - if she does that. Most of the things she does are to protect herself or those who are close to her. Because of this she comes of as extremely cold and disinterested in most interactions, and can be a bit hard to talk to. When she holds a conversation she treats it like a battle, or a chessmatch, always going back and forth and speaking extremely deliberately, crafting her words carefully to suit her purposes and nobody else's. She bites before other people can bite her, not afraid to throw out stinging barbs with the intent to hurt people in order to protect her own heart and skin. But Avidia isn't all coldness and anger. Underneath all her shells and walls is still a human being. She's a lot more emotional and cares a lot more than she'd readily admit, especially when it comes to the people who are closest to her. She's just very particular about when she'd show this. She values the head over the heart, but it wouldn't be far off to say that the heart is a lot stronger for her. When Avidia loves she loves like a hurricaine, unbridled and wild. When she cares about someone it's with every fibre of her being. When she hates someone it's like a forest fire that sweeps over everything to turn it to ashes. But it's all contained inside her body, and only occasionally slips out in her words and glances. LIKES NATURE. Avidia has a strange fixation with nature, partially due to the fact that the primal beauty of nature was often lost in Garlemald. FIGHTING. Fighting is, as Avidia puts it, "all [she] knows how to do." When she's fighting she finds it's very easy to just lose herself in it and not have to worry about anything else. BEING ONE STEP AHEAD. Avidia absolutely refuses to let herself slip down. She'll always fight to be ahead in everything, including knowledge, and it's something that she grasps onto and values very deeply. She considers it to be extremely vital to her survival. STARS. Similar to her fixation with nature, Avidia is enamoured by the cosmos. So much vast space, only dotted with little bits of light. There's something poetic about it. DISLIKES IGNORANCE. The easiest way to piss Avidia off is by doing something without thinking about it beforehand, and she will not hesitate to let you know that you're an idiot for doing it. PRYING. Pry into her personal life if you wish. Just don't be surprised if you get a fist to your jaw. FAIRY TALES. A bit ironic for someone who earns her nickname from a Garlean fairy tale, but Avidia has always disliked them. "Pointless flights of fancy", she calls them. MILK. A lot more light-hearted than her other dislikes, but he hatred for it is just as strong. STRENGTHS TACTICS. Avidia is a great tactician. She has had a lot of experience leading great numbers of troops to victory, and has even recieved medals for it while in the military. COMBAT. Avidia is no stranger to the battlefield. Despite being a skilled tactician Avidia is also a skilled fighter, and she's most at home on the battlefield itself with the rest of her men. LEADERSHIP. Being a pilus prior at only 25 is evidence enough of Avidia's leadership skills. Natural charisma, combined with her own abilities, has forged her into someone people willingly follow and look to. DEDUCTION. Investigations, deduction, prying, whatever you want to call it. Avidia wouldn't have made it anywhere if she didn't know how to act the part of a detective once in a while. WEAKNESSES HEAD VS HEART. Avidia's constantly in conflict between what her heart wants and what her head deems is necessary. As of late this has been even more prominant, causing her even more turmoil. SKILLS? Avidia grew up with the sole purpose of being a soldier, and a very good one at that. Unfortunately, it means that the rest of fields of life have been neglected somewhat. There's a lot of things - art, bartering, etc - that she just doesn't have any experience in. STUBBORN. Avidia is ridiculously stubborn, to a fault. A lot of times her stubbornness and pride have nearly gotten her killed. Not that she'd ever admit it. THE EMPIRE. What Avidia holds in the highest regard might actually turn out to be her biggest weakness. Avidia has put her entire faith in the Empire, and when it was shattered it left her confused and in turmoil. Even now she's trying desperately to fight for the last pieces of her shattered world. It's dark green on the cover and written in a deep blue ink. It details her journeys in Eorzea, starting from when she was in the Garlean military to now. COMPASS: A simple gold compass. REPAIR KIT: Her repair kit is small and simple, spartan almost. It consists mainly of items used to repair leather and cloth - sewing needles, etc - but there is a small pair of pliers and flint and steel to help with the metal aspect. It's where she thrives. She's been trained in how to fight since childhood and as a result she is very, very good at it. Her philosophy in fighting is to end it as fast as possible: savage, quick, and with no mercy. They can't hurt you if they're dead, afterall. She uses everything she has when she fights, not limiting it to just her weapon but using her entire body. She's very fluid when she fights but there's still strength behind every one of her movements. When it comes down to it, despite how agile and graceful her movements might be, she's not afraid to plant her foot in the ground and throw all of her body weight into one brutal strike. To see Avidia on the battlefield is to truly witness a master of their craft, and it's almost an art form in of itself. SPEAR Avidia's primary weapon, having been trained as an eques, is her spear. It is simple, just a wooden staff and a very plain steel spearhead, but it is light and sturdy and she is extremely skilled in using it like an extention of her body. KNIVES Avidia carries two small knives with her. The blades are about 4 ilm long, and ever-so-slightly curved. THROWING KNIVES She has a series of small, curved throwing knives that she keeps on her person. There's about a dozen in total, strapped to her belt and legs. SWORD When Avidia was in the Garlean military one of her sponsors gifted her with a sword, razor sharp and elegantly crafted. It folds in on itself so she can carry it around without it being seen. EXPERIENCE LOG Here is a list of recent and/or notable fights, roleplay scenes, etc. that Avidia has been a part of. This list is by no means all inclusive, and serves more as a general reference as to what HE/SHE has been up to. The Grindstone (4/16/16): Spear. Avidia took part in the Grindstone. She fought with spear and body, and while she won her first match she lost her second one. BACKSTORY Avidia was born in Garlemald, in the capital. She was born to two elite soldiers, both of them high-ranked in the military. Unfortunately, as people are want to do when they are soldiers, her parents met their demise when Avidia was very young. As a result she was orphaned at the small age of 3, and sent to an orphanage for other children like her. Avidia remained there for a couple years before she was approached by another officer in the military. The officer had served with her parents and held them in extremely high regard. Not wanting to let their legacy go to waste, he took Avidia into his home and under his wing, raising her almost like she was his own blood. When Avidia was 6 she was enrolled in a combat academy for children, beginning her long career as a fighter and a soldier. It was in this academy that she met Fabius Dandy, another pureblooded Garlean, and the two of them became fast friends. Avidia and Fabius worked their way through the classes at the academy, honing their skills and becoming better and better. In their later years they met Albinus Scaurus, an Au Ra taken from Othard and brainwashed into another soldier. When Avidia graduated she was top of her year, and was immediately placed under a well-respected officer in the military. From there her career truly took off. Under the watchful eye of her superior officer Avidia learned his every move. Eventually she was taken under the wing of Decima sas Balventius as her apprentice/assistant, and through Decima's reputation obtained several sponsors for her military career, all of which contributed to her becoming the youngest Pilus Prior in the past century. Avidia's status made her privvy to a lot of information that Fabius and Albinus weren't allowed to know about. One of them was the location of Albinus's sister, whom had also been taken by the military. In an attempt to find her Avidia made a trip to the prison she was held in. What she found horrified her: the mutilated, defiled corpse of Albinus's sister. This event was what began her slow decline of faith in the Empire, and was also what spurred her into helping Albinus escape from Garlemald, an action which she has still not been found out for. RECENT HISTORY • Avidia's former partner, Fabius Dandy, recieved an order to spy on a family - the Armstrongs - in Eorzea. They break off contact for the time Fabius is Eorzea, unable to stay in touch. • Following the failure of Fabius's mission, Avidia is sent to Eorzea with a small, elite squad to capture Fabius and take him back to Eorzea. Stationed just outside of Castrum Meridianum, Avidia lured Fabius out with a letter. Upon meeting him and Rhel'ir Tayuun, the man Fabius had fallen in love with, Avidia chose duty over her personal feelings for Fabius. She ordered her soldiers to beat Rehl'ir, humiliated Fabius in front of him, and then captured Fabius to take him back to the Empire. • Avidia's history and friendship with Fabius eventually won out against the cold "duty comes first" mindset she had tried to adopt when tasked with the mission. She released Fabius in the Shroud, tasking him with finding his way back on his own, and returned to Garlemald empty handed. • Due to the failure of her own mission Avidia was publically tortured as punishment: strung up, whipped, and hanged to near death. She was eventually released under Decima's command, and nursed back to health until she could return to the soldier life. • Decima later sent Avidia back to Eorzea to spy on Fabius. However, with her faith in the Empire shaken she became increasingly conflicted on whether or not she should remain as a soldier or simply flee. Upon discovering she was in Eorzea Fabius, thinking she had defected, offered to find her a place to stay but she refused, instead taking refuge with Albinus. • A scarce few months later she was approached by Fabius at the Grindstone and offered a job at his Imaginarium as... "hired security". In actuality he needed someone he could trust to protect his secrets, and in exchange would protect her's. She agreed. • Recently Decima has arrived in Eorzea herself, in order to seek out Fabius. She's pulled Avidia back under her command, assuming Avidia's loyalties still lay with the Empire. In truth, Avidia's not sure where her loyalties lie. All she knows right now is she wants to protect Fabius. She was highly respected and I'm proud to call myself her daughter." Clara rem Iuvenlis was a very respected and high-ranked officer in the military. When she had a child, mostly to continue her legacy, it was well-recieved. However Clara met her untimely demise at the hands of Ala Mhigan resistance fighters, along with her husband, and thus was never able to be present in Avidia's life. Ballus rem Iuvenlis, father. ( ❖ 🔃 ) Avidia's Thoughts: "I'd never met my father. But everyone says he was a very skilled officer. I owe him much of my own career." Avidia's father was in a very similar position as her mother. Equally as respected and high-ranked, but from a more prominant family, it only made sense that her mother marry him. While it was largely an arranged marriage, her father still deeply loved her mother. He sacrificed himself to save her life, never knowing that his sacrifice went in vain. Jodocus sas Nicon, adoptive father. ( ✔ ♥ ) Avidia’s Thoughts: ”Jodocus was the closest I ever had to a real parent. He may have been stern, but I appreciate it far more now than I did at the time.” Jodocus was Ballus and Clara's commanding officer. Upon her parents' deaths he had assumed she had gone to a family member, and was shocked to discover she was in an orphanage. In respect for her parents he took her into his home. Avidia only lived with him for a few years before he sent her off to a military academy, but in those few years he was both stern and caring. While he showed her love he was not above punishing her when she was out of line. Much of her current mindset today comes from Jodocus's influence on her. I just tend to only add these as necessary for those who make a real impact on Avidia, and descriptions are purely based upon in character experiences and opinions! ( ♥ ♥ ✔ 🔒 ) Avidia’s Thoughts: "While the path has been rocky, I would never trade him for anything. He holds my heart and I would gladly give my life for his." Soulmate. Truly the best word to describe her relationship with Fabius. The two have gone through a lot together. Starting as friends, turning to lovers, and now the best way to describe them is just... soulmates. Avidia and Fabius grew up together and, during their teens, they found their feelings evolving into a pure form of love. This love lasted for many years until Avidia finally broke it off. She's never told him the real reasons for it, always offering up excuses, but it's because she was frightened. Frightened that he could elicit such strong feelings from her, and frightened by how quickly she was being swept away from them. Does she regret it? Yes. Would she go back to him? Unlikely. But they still remain fierce friends, having a bond that very few can claim to have. Albinus Scaurus*, partner. ( ♥ ♥ ✔ 🔒 ) Avidia’s Thoughts: "Ugh. He's a damn fool, that one. But he's reliable, loyal, and oh-so very pure of heart. I can't imagine my life without him." Avidia and Albinus met later in life than she met Fabius, but that doesn't lessen their bond any. The three Garleans had formed something of a triumvate, working together, drinking together, and staying up late together. Avidia found a comfident in Albinus, sharing with him the things that she wouldn't even tell Fabius. When he confided in her about his sister she did everything in her power to find her, and when it was revealed his sister was dead she was the one who was there to comfort him and help him escape. Rhel'ir Tayuun, nuisance. ( 🔃 $ ) Avidia’s Thoughts: "I... feel guilty everytime I look at him. I know I was just doing my duty but I can't deny that I hurt him." Rhel'ir was Fabius's mark when he went to Eorzea. Avidia's initial interactions with him were extremely negative. She had her soldiers beat him and rip out his tooth, and then left him on the ground while she took Fabius away. recently, however, they seem to have a mutual respect for each other. Having gotten to know him better she does feel guilty for her actions. While she's not sorry she had to do them, she does attempt to make up for them when possible. Naih'a Ithihoh, "co-worker". ( ● ) Avidia’s Thoughts: "An impressive man, but in way over his head. I don't think he realizes the forces he's playing with." Naih'a only fell on Avidia's radar when she discovered his own heritage. She has a certain degree of respect for him, but it pales in comparison to her disregard for him. Perhaps if she had met him years ago she would have cared more, but at this point she just acknowledges him. Decima Balventius, super officer, sponsor. ( ♥ $ ✖ ) Avidia’s Thoughts: "In my entire life, I have only been truly fearful three times. All of them involved that woman." Avidia initially met Decima through Fabius Balventius, Decima's son. Eventually Decima became one of Avidia's sponsors for her military career, and she's served as something of an assistant to her before. Avidia initially revered Decima. She respected the woman completely and put all of her faith and trust in her. In recent years, however, Avidia has been forced to see Decima's darker side with her own two eyes. She feels betrayed by Decima's indifferance in her torture, angry that the woman is still using her, and somewhat hurt that there seems to be nothing but disregard for her in Decima's eyes. With her appearance and name, there's an obvious difference between her and the average Eorzean. Noticing her wouldn't be hard at all, and even easier if your character was able to make a connection between her appearance and hidden heritage. Fighting: Aside from just the Grindstone, Avidia doesn't exactly shy away from a fight. Maybe you're looking to pick one, or perhaps you're just a fan of her last one. Connections: Avidia has a lot of connections in Eorzea. Both as a spy, and an employee of the Imaginarium. Maybe you're one of them? Or maybe you're close to one of her connections? I'm sure we can work something out. Garlemald: *OTHER GARLEAN RPERs ONLY* Pretty much any Garlean would have heard of "Snow White", one of the youngest Pilus Priors in history. I've been playing this game for a long time and I tend to juggle raiding and rping. I'm online a lot of the time during afternoons and evenings, but since school has started recently it might be a bit harder to find me. If you can't find me on Avidia it's likely I'm on Panne Berry, my main character, or even on my other RP alt, Albinus Scaurus. Don't be afraid to ask me about anything, be it for gameplay content or role-playing! THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND... RAIDING VS. RPING. I try and balance raiding with roleplaying a lot. Most likely, if I'm already engaged in one I'm not going to drop everything for the other one. However please note that just because I'm online doesn't mean I'm not busy. I might be preparing for a raid, so just keep that in mind! STATIC COMES FIRST. Following the above, keep in mind that I will halt RP for my static. But don't worry, I'll give plenty of warning ahead of time rather than just shut it down completely. WHEN TO APPROACH. This character is a RP character so.... really you can approach her anytime! However keep in mind she is written in a very deliberate way. She's juggling betrayal vs. faith. She's undercover. But she's also got a reputation for herself in Garlemald. And please DON'T unmask Avidia to anybody. Like I said, she's being played in a very deliberate way right now and I don't want to get rid of that. GUIDELINES Overall, I'm pretty chill as far as guidelines go. I don't have an extensive list of 'Do's or 'Don't's or things that I personally find triggering. So chances are, you won't offend me or make me uncomfortable unless you're trying to or just being really skeevy in general. Still, for the sake of making sure everyone's on the same page here, let me make a few mentions in particular: I WILL NOT... Plot Interruption. This character is a Garlean, she was basically made for the sake of plot RP. If you get the feeling that my RP is currently really plotty try not to interrupt. I don't mind getting other people involved, but only if EVERYONE involved is okay with it, and ONLY if you ask ahead of time. Mutilate or kill my character. I'd like to keep RPing her please. Anything such as amputation, death, or dramatically altering her in anyway isn't allowed.
