L I K E S ■ Family -- The concept of families, homes, and a group-based lifestyle is paramount to this road weathered loner. Don't let the praise that he'll give after comments like "I don't have have a family", "I don't care about no one", or "I'm on my own now" fool you. There is nothing this man prizes higher than community and home. ■ Fine Clothes -- Most of Veil's wardrobe is fine enough to come off as garish, to some. Especially too much so for a bounty hunter. But Veil just says old men are allowed to look fancy. ■ Singing/Dancing -- Firepits and festivities. Even if he's not the one trotting in circles, he'll clap to the beat and cheer you on. And certainly join in when appropriate. ■ Telling Jokes -- Puns, most often. He doesn't even often realize they're puns until after he's said them, and those are always the greatest, to him. Sometimes you'll need to catch his focus a few times to drag him back down to earth, and stop laughing. ■ Honesty -- Veil doesn't expect honesty, from most people. He knows people are full of their secrets, lies, but he's certainly the last man to condemn someone for keeping their tongue on the truth. To him, if he's the person you break that guard to, and speak plainly? Well that's an honor trumped by little else. ■ Girls -- Looking at girls, talking with girls, getting into long drawn out conversations with girls. The guy's been alone for 26 years. He doesn't mean any ill intent, but it's pretty self explanatory. ■ Clean Work. ■ Mornings -- In Thanalan, in the morning, the world acts similar enough to Steppe, beneath the nearing sun and the dawning. Its enough at least that he can pretend. Enough that he can say this place may, one day, work out as something like a home.

D I S L I K E S ■ Guilt -- Or more pointedly, memories of his wife. His home, his children. When things between the then and now grow too similar (it could be a ponytail, a voice, a saying), his very next action will be shutting the situation down, and keeping it like that. ■ Criminals. ■ Gossip -- If he doesn't need the grapevine for his work, its not worth his time. People should keep their tongues in their own lives and leave those who're running, or hiding, to run and hide. ■ Water -- Rain, lakes, rivers. Sometimes he'll be found by a shore, washing his equipment or clothes, but as soon as he needs to cross it, or the wind picks up and the skies start to open, he'll be gone. ■ Long Days -- Or in layman's terms, days that seem to run on and on. The sun needs to set. The moon needs to rise. The world needs to move on, so he can tick through it all at the same and steady pace that he's been going. ■ Raen -- It isn't his fault they don't get on. They're the ones that always bring up the first dispute, anyhow.

H A B I T S  &  S K I L L S Quirks/Vices ■ Talking to Himself -- Veil can often be found locked in a quiet muttering, when he's on his own, or focused. Very often this louder, when he's in travel, to the volume of usual speech. Sometimes, it sounds like he's reciting old poems, or stories. Other times it's not unlike a full conversation, to an outside listener. He often seems quite happy, in this state ■ Private/Personal -- For as long as his life as been, Veil prefers to keep just about all of it to himself. Or at least he tries. Whether its just barely keeping the information locked behind tight closed lips, or clunkily sidestepping every other question in a manner more fit for a wildebeest, his attempts at keeping his secrets are stubborn and full through, but ham-handed at best. ■ Tinkering/Fiddling -- On days he has little to do, Veil has little patience to sit by and wait for things to go on. His hands must be active, and mot often, that activity is any manner of fixing his weapons, fixing his magitek, cleaning, polishing, sharpening, or just a routine and all around checkup. The man simply will not sit still. ■ Socially Gullible -- In the usual sense, and his usual settings, Veil has quite the head on his shoulders. In his own environment, and with his own people, little runs past him. But as a man who's been removed for society for 26 long years, alone in Eorzea and with little to no interest in getting to know the locals, there's a lot he doesn't understand. Even more that he'll take at face value, in an effort to simplify. Its therein that some things can get dangerous. Abilities/Skills ■ Capable with shortspear and crossbow -- Veil avoids the idea of melee combat at all costs, but is at lest semi skilled in using his shortspears to deflect and block. He grew up with his main weapon strapped to his arm, and his true talent is aim. From a distance, whether its a shortspear or a crossbow bolt coming your way, the man is deadly. ■ Navigational Ability -- The man doesn't often carry maps, but he can draw you one in a heartbeat. If you wind up lost, he's one of the best bets to getting home. It's just what comes with a life of road and travel. ■ Magitek Knowledge -- While most of Veil's understanding of tech involves outdated models, outdated machines, he's quite good at learning on the job, and coming up with hacksaw repairs that'll at least get a broken limb good enough to walk you to a repairman. He does all of his repairs and upgrades on his own equipment himself. Largely because half of his tech is ancient.

■ Spirituality/Religion. Veil doesn't have much opinion on faith. There are gods. There are ghosts. There is an afterlife and there are a thousand angry skeletons waiting for him to get there. And certainly, one day, he will get there. All of this is indisputable, so he sees no reason in any emphasis or argument on faith.

■ Politics. Having been away from the world for quite some time, he knows little about the technical talk of political figures. His views on justice are as thin as 'if someone wants to kill you, you probably did something wrong', and he tries to keep his thinking that way.

A P P E A R A N C E

At first glance, covered in his clothes, he looks like little else than a sturdy, well-off old man. And for the most part, that's exactly what Veil is. Save a good number of bruises, bumps, and scratches. And a few missing limbs.

■ Body: Veil is tall and strong-built, for a man of his age. He certainly keeps up with his fitness, or at least as much as he can. His muscle, however, is hardly lean, and his age certainly shows in his sturdier build. ■ Skin: His skin is dark and riddled with scarring. Its hard to tell anymore if there's even a segment of his body left that hasn't been marked up by his work, anymore. Dry around hands, and the edges of onyx scales, the man has no baby skin. ■ Hair: Black, tied back, short for most Xaela, Veil's hair is dark and peppered with greys that line predominately along his bangs and sideburns. When out if the ponytail, it hangs just a bit past his collarbone with the texture of something like horsehair, or straw. ■ Eyes: His eyes are green, and the umbral rings abound each are tinged a bright and icy blue. He often appears tired.

■ Clothes: Veil's clothing can often get overly colorful, or overly adorned in gold. He enjoys being flashy, neat, and clean. And lucky for him, he does most his work from afar, so very rarely does he ever have to cope with bloodstains. ■ Jewelry: When he has jewelry, he wears it. Most predominately, he's always wearing some fashion of earring on his horns. Bracelets and necklaces are often his fancy, too. Rings, however, are often just a hassle for the hand, not to mention the problems of actually putting them on. ■ Distinguishing Features: Veil has recognizable eyes, and his voice is loud and booming enough that many who hear him once speaking over almost an entire market will no doubt recognize it again. Other than those, most of his familiar features lie more in personality, than appearance. He often tries to maintain a more average makeup, when possible. ■ Other: Veil is missing three of his limbs; both of his legs past mid thigh, and most of his right forearm. He has magitek augments, but these, for the most part, remain hidden unless absolutely necessary, primarily his legs.

As mentioned, Veil has magitek replacing three of his limbs. His legs are moderately advanced, dating no earlier than the technology the Garleans considered top-tier just a few years before the calamity, but the tech replacing his right hand is much older. Instead of having a working prosthetic, he has a manually operated weapon that dates a good 40 years back. Like his legs he keeps this hidden, with a glove usually over his arm and a steel, hand shaped model clasped over the end, which is wrapped in cloth and leather to look more like a normal hand than a piece of metal. Anyone speaking with him will likely notice his right hand never moves.

Expand   Strength ( 15 )'

He does his best to stay in top shape and top physical condition while he can, often working out and maintaining the upkeep in most of his muscles. There's a point, though, when there's only so much you can reach when ranked against others with younger bodies, and others with all of their limbs. He's strong, he can lift quite a bit, and a hit will damn hurt. But he's not going to be the city's top brawler anytime soon*. It just isn't his alley. We're ignoring the fact that his right arm ends in a bunch of pointy sharp stuff for the sake of this statement

Expand   Dexterity ( 17 )'
Veil isn't agile, or graceful, but reflexes have saved his life in more than one occasion. More than twenty, probably. Add that in to the gift of mechanical legs, and he has little problem barreling through tight corners and fancy footwork. In short, a dance with him will be clunky, but when a bomb goes off, he'll be the first to the floor.

Expand   Constitution ( 18 )'
You've got to have a form that can withstand a lot to reach his age, and his status. The man is rarely sick from his upbringing on the road, and his stamina and endurance are his best two traits when it comes to the physical. Sure, with metal legs, he can run for quite a while regardless. But if he had working ones, he'd be running for quite a while all the same. At an average pace, albeit.

Expand   Intelligence ( 13 )'
Veil is average in intelligence. He's smarter than some, not as smart as others, and largely, he puts more of his focus on skill above bookwork. He does have his significant navigating skills to aid him in this, as well as his expertise with magitek. But he's no braniac, and he certainly isn't going to waste his time in a game of Kharaqiq.

Expand   Wisdom ( 12 )'

Veil is educated and wise within his own fields. He knows the rules and laws of bounty hunting, of a criminal life. He knows the best of gut instinct and when to take chances, when to pull risks. When somebody's no good and has nothing good on their mind. He's 'street savvy', in that sense. But as soon as those walls are dropped and he's facing, instead, the civilized world, things start to get pretty dead in the water. He knows very little about people or societies, and especially in Eorzea, he really shouldn't be left alone in a few select parts of life. Certainly don't take him to your monterist parties.

Falling in line with his skills in wisdom, its been a long, long time since Veil's been around common folk. He isn't so good at talking to them. Not in the slightest.

. ✖ P L A Y E R   I N F O ✖ ❇ I came from forum rp, so I type a lot, and place rp priorities above game content priorities, so I rp a lot. I like to consider myself a heavy roleplayer, and while my first choice is usually to type things out in /em, i have no problem moving to party or linkshell. I'll also move there myself the moment things start to take a more graphic route (gorey shit, etc) because I am a descriptive writer and nobody wants to see that nonsense, man. Nobody. ❇ For Combat in Roleplay:: I honestly try to avoid rping combat because I'm not too confident with my ability to write it, but with my characters being the way they are that doesn't really pan out. While time to time I trust rp with people, I prefer dice rolling, using my dice at my desk or a site called roll20 where rolls are able to be viewed easily by others in a format. I don't really like xiv's roll system because the numbers are too big and the randomization is too high (most games will roll twice and take an average of the two, but xiv just uses one number), and skews things too much. ❇ Concerning Romance RP:: I'm 0% good at romance and neither are my characters. If you're seeking romantic interaction with my characters, by all means let me know and I'll see what I can do, but I like things to happen naturally. Its not a likelihood for that to work out icly as a love/love relationship (though its been done before), so please don't worry if it doesn't. ❇ There MUST be a clear separation between IC and OOC when rping. He left his tribe a good 26 years ago, and has been living out in the deserts of Thanlan for most of his time since, with some travel. ■ His body is like 80% magitek. He's missing a lot of limbs. ■ He's a bounty hunter! A somewhat well known one, which is a property of both his skill and age. When you live that long, you kinda get stories told about you. ■ He has a family, a wife and three children, that he hasn't spoken with since the day he left. RP HARD LIMITS

If any issues occur within rp (something my character does is uncomfortble to you, you have an issue with how an action or situation takes place, etc.) just let me know OOCly. Please don't make veiled comments hoping I will catch on. I won't. I promise I won't. I don't pick up on that. If the situation is reversed, I will simply say something pretty fast - don't like to let things fester. That all said standard hard-limit no-no stuff and things I love are:

■ Do: --- Mature themes, violence, light or heavy gore, black magic shit, weird shit, fluff shit

■ Ask: --- Sexual shit, permanent maiming or debilitating/lasting damage, situations that would somehow physically or supernaturally tie or bind my character to yours

■ Don't: --- Permanent character death (without probable cause), anything up in the ask section without you asking me, I think that's it
