Brash, Proud, Volatile, Empathetic, Stubborn, Principled

L I K E S ■ Alcohol -- Cheap Wine usually if he can get it. Huge lightweight and since he doesn't get much to drink very often is an awful judge of his limit! ■ Dogs. -- It doesn't much matter whether they're well bred pets of someone he might absolutely hate or some mangy wolfpup that's digging through the garbage, he finds dogs to be more honest and loyal than people ever are - will often feed strays he sees even if it means missing a meal himself. ■ Sweets. -- (Snurbleberry Tart, Rolanberry Cheesecake, Blood Orange, Sachertorte, Grape Juice). He adores anything sweet especially rich pastries. ■ Fighting/Sparring. -- Nothing serious but he really enjoys fighting, brawling with others. Not with the intention of anyone being killed or seriously hurt (he's adamantly against killing...has trouble with even the idea of it) but as a sort of exercise. Sparring with someone is one of his favourite activities. ■ Learning/Being Taught things. -- Even if the skill is silly and amounts to little, he will put his everything into learning it and pay close attention while taught. ■ Gifts. -- While he hasn't been given many gifts, he finds it very meaningful even if the item is small and unimportant. Of the few items he owns, most of them he keeps and cherishes were given to him. ■ Challenges. -- Obviously not those meant to be impossible, but challenges or bets between friends - or his being challenged to do something on his own are great fun.

D I S L I K E S ■ Pity. -- He absolutely can't stand to be pitied or looked down on - either because of his lack of abilities or position/social place in life. Even if it's well-intended and meant to be empathetic he has a hard time accepting this type of behaviour towards him and usually just gets upset. ■ Joking at his Expense. -- Similar to Pity, he has a very hard time with jokes at his expense, not certain much of the time if someone is making fun of his person legitimately or simply jesting for fun. ■ Wealthy People/Nobles. -- Growing up in Ul'dah mostly he has come to feel scorn towards those who have excess, especially nobility and those of an 'upper class'. ■ Books/Documents/etc.. -- Tends to get him worked up easily given he's completely illiterate and doesn't like people to know it. He used to be able to at the very least manage his name, terribly scrawled across the X on a contract, but since he's missing his hand now that's not possible. ■ Healers.-- Magic Users in particular. They make him /very/ nervous around them. He has some aetheric abililities himself, but that only fuels it further as his lack of understanding with this causes further discomfort. ■ Somnus & other drugs. -- Has had terrible experiences concerning these types of drugs around the city and with people he knew who live around Ul'dah. He's watched friends and refugees struggle with these drugs and is terrified of them. ■ Intimacy and exposure. ■ The Immortal Flames/Officers. -- More fear than dislike, fear of getting thrown in Jail, getting sent to the Arena. The Officers make him nervous, especially since he will frequently stoops to stealing food to get by. ■ Being in Debt/Owing anyone Money. -- He will do anything and everything to clear a debt as though it's morally wrong for him to be indebted to anyone. ■ Feeling taken advantage of.

H A B I T S  &  S K I L L S Quirks/Vices ■ Has nightmares and doesn't sleep well. -- Only ever sleeps well when taking something (potions, somnus, etc.) but refuses to use anything for the problem. Usually very tired. ■ Peels off labels. -- Will absently peel back labels from bottles or containers, folding them up and often pocketing them for some reason. ■ Slouches. -- Very tall, lanky for a 'Midlander' and tends to slouch as though it might help make him appear shorter, stockier even given how lean, almost lithe he is. ■ Is awful when it comes to Gambling. -- Doesn't know when to stop when it comes to Gambling. Even when he has next to no gil he'll gamble himself into debt if he's not careful. Gets swept up in the moment and has trouble stopping. ■ Has an awful temper. -- Very emotional; Overreacts very quickly and tends to swear a LOT - not necessarily insulting people but slinging a lot of curses their way. Yelling tends to be his default 'go-to' reaction to a lot of things... ■ Reckless. -- Often acts without thinking very much, more on emotion than anything. This type of behavior can delve into self-destructive quickly (and often). ■ Somewhat Uncomfortable around Elezen. -- Nothing extensive, but he fidgets a lot, often tries to duck out of the situation feeling ill-at-ease around them. Abilities/Skills ■ Good with a short sword. -- Lacks any real combat training and now missing his primary hand. He can still use his weapon with right hand to at least swing, but it is very clumsy and awkward and he hasn't been able to find any work because of this. ■ Very observant, good at picking up small details . ■ Incredibly empathetic and kind-heated even if he has no idea how to show it to others. -- doesn't like this pointed out. Will go to extreme measures to do what he thinks is right, but hates acknowledgment.

■ Spirituality/Religion. Largely not religious, he is more superstitious than anything - a personal system of beliefs stemming largely from folklore and hearsay, little rituals or common practice. Anything concerning luck or 'good' being rewarded, Bastian tends to be receptive towards. Large organizations such as Orthodox Church are of little interest or value.

■ Politics. While he doesn't have a complex understanding of politics, growing up in Ul'dah Bastian has come to despise most of what he sees - holding little respect to those in a positions of political power, especially those born into their seat. While not necessarily anti-authority as a whole, because of this he tends to be not at all receptive towards those trying to use orders or force based on rank/class.

Text Summary.

■ Body: Lanky to the point of gangly, the kid is still growing and already considers himself too tall. Spending much of his time hunched over, as if trying to cover up lithe frame, he is visibly lean with the bearings of someone that's never going to be overly muscular. ■ Skin: It's clear he spends a good deal of time outside, near permanent tan across skin that might otherwise be quite pale. ■ Hair: Unkempt and hanging in his eyes, across face and ears, hair stands out a vivid shade of red which seems at first glance almost unnatural vibrant. The kid is easy to catch sight of in a crowd if only for this. ■ Eyes: Amber (though it might be difficult to tell, masked by scowl and unkept hair.

■ Clothes: Not particularly well kept, if more because of means than interest, he wears nothing more specific than the standard style you'd find in Ul'dah - mended and taken care of well enough, though not often freshly washed all the same. A simple tunic and worn-out leather armour over top his shoulders and chest tend to be. ■ Jewelry: Finding gold and baubles to be distracting, making him fidget and simply remove the item hanging off his person quickly, he wears very little. His ears are pierced, something from a long time ago and something he isn't pleased about. ■ Distinguishing Features: While not overly large, his ears are visibly sharp. Kept either covered by cloth wrapped across his head or simply because of unkept hair, it's often hard to catch sight of them, but they are decidedly pointed, almost elegantly so. ■ Other: Bastian is completely missing his left hand - severed from right above his wrist and completely healed over over the past year or so. Usually kept wrapped up in the twisted end of the sleeve of whatever tunic he's wearing at any given time or shoved out of sight into pocket if he has any, the boy doesn't advertise this loss openly. It is quite obvious from simple observation, though, that he is not used to handling most tasks with his right hand and can often appear to be quite clumsy and awkward. Mention of this will likely result in a curt, potentially volatile, response.

. ✖ P L A Y E R   I N F O ✖ ❇ I'm a Heavy Roleplayer in Eastern-Standard Timezone (EST). I usually RP in public channels, though often move to private means (/whisper, /party) for certain elements of rp and if the RP itself I find might make anyone around me uncomfortable. I also will very frequently Roleplay on Skype and enjoy keeping up long-term active exchanges there. ❇ For Combat in Roleplay:: I love using roll-of-the-dice, (usually relying more on a d20 out of game/via an online roller, though /random has also been good to me) along with a realistic idea of how things might work out concerning rolls/random chance with the characters skills and abilities. Basically random chance I find adds a wonderful element to combat rp, but there's always the realism to consider. I adore combat in rp (whether I win or lose or the outcome isn't exactly certain) finding that the tension it adds as well as the random nature of a lot of it can aid in creating new and interesting factors for characters! ❇ Concerning Romance RP:: I'm not completely opposed to romantic based rp and occasionally enjoy it, but I don't make any real point actively seeking out rp of that nature - dating icly, looking for a relationship icly, etc. My main focus will at no point ever be simply the romantic element. If the plot heads in a direction where characters might have feelings for each other I'm not against this type of thing but I've had some very ~dramatic~ experiences in the past with this type of RP. ❇ There MUST be a clear separation between IC and OOC when rping. Insults, flirting, violence or talking about characters isn't meant to be personal (ooc). RP HARD LIMITS

If any issues within rp (something my character does is uncomfortble to you, you have an issue with how an action or situation takes place, etc.) just let me know OOCly. Please don't make veiled comments hoping I will catch on. I won't, I can promise that much (I'm really dumb and dense and subtle stuff like that isn't my forte). If the situation is reversed, I will simply say something pretty fast - don't like to let things fester. That all said standard hard-limit no-no stuff and things I love are:

■ Do: --- Pretty much any Mature Content, Dark or Serious Themes (violence, serious torture, murder, drug/alcohol use, etc.), as well as lighter encounters and interactions. Plot and Character-Driven rp , long-term plots and . Please expect coarse language from a number of my characters. Temporary injury (mind/body), captivity, imprisonment and any types of attacks are a-okay. Romantic and sexual tension are fantastic but please talk to me about anything other than just tension no random tells fishing for erp...that just comes off as awkward and creepy.

■ Ask: --- Disfigurement, mutilation, crippling or permanently injuring characters. I don't necessarily need to know long-term in advance for these things, but don't inflict anything on my characters without talking to me at least please. Anything that might cause a longer-term character-changing issues which might reflect heavily on other RPS I'm in I want a general heads-up/discussion. Long term captivity (aka, longer than a month or so icly) should be talked out and usually have some reason for happening (since it's basically putting the character out of commission for a good while).

■ Don't: --- Basically my hard-line is permanent character death without any extensive discussion of this and heavily plot-driven reason for this. RP where character must be connected at the hip to one of my character constantly. "Sexy Torture" for the sake of being sexy is also a huge no. Just no.
