Character

General

Garen Stone is best described in one word - boisterous. The man is loud and brash, always saying what's on his mind. His gigantic figure makes for quite an imposing personage, until one realizes he's basically a gigantic teddy bear with a heart two sizes too big for his job. If one is looking for a bodyguard or a brother in the drink, they'll find it in Garen. However, appearances are not always the entire story, and behind the energetic man lies a warrior who serves his land as faithfully as any other.

Appearance

Garen is absolutely enormous. The man is heavily built, clearly the type to favour physical training over any sort of mental exercise. At well over six fulm, he towers over even other highlanders, one of the tallest of his race. His skin is tanned - naturally so, a result of a lineage of the sand. His hair is a sandy brown color, and his eyes are slightly almond-shaped and thin, with a set of piercing green irises. He has a smaller facial scar across his left cheek, cutting into his skin without getting to bone. His jaw is heavy and squared, usually with a bit of beard tuft around it.

Garen is rarely seen outside of armor. While his choice of equipment tends to vary, his most common armor set is a full plate made of high mythrite, a gift from his friend Z'attana Mitnu. He often carries a sword, shield, axe and two katars into battle and will switch equipment as necessary to fit the situation, though this does mean that a knocked-out Garen is rather hard to remove from the field!

Personality

Everything about Garen could be described as loud. The man wouldn't know subtlety if it chose to strike him in the back of the head. He laughs loud, drinks hard and throws himself into the field with only the most minor of regards - and only the presence of his infant daughter in his mind keeps him that restrained. He's far from dumb, but also leaves intellectual pursuits to his better half, Liliana Stone. To Garen Stone, life is meant to be lived to the fullest, and every day is spent towards that endeavor.

Combat

General

Garen uses his large size and weight as an advantage in battle, while also being capable of significant combat adaptation. While using his axe, he tends towards recklessness and will extend further than usual into the field, chopping down foes with glee as he moves from target to target. As this is his newest combat style, it is currently his most commonly used. He finds himself more than sufficiently defended, and he's much more capable as a killer than he is with sword and shield. If he gets overwhelmed, he tosses his axe down and grabs his older sword and shield. He tends towards gladiatorial combat in this set, since his magic is not his strength - though he can fire a powerful heal once or twice before he's drained dry. His shield is almost more used than his sword, allowing him to knock enemies out without killing them. If the situation calls for it (though it rarely does) Garen can shed his armor, going down to only leather boots and his chain pants. He then draws katars and uses swift strikes to bloodily end his opponents. However, this is by far his weakest combat style of his three.

Garen's main weaknesses come in his lack of magical prowess and his emotions. He is a powerful physical force on the battlefield but his magic is the complete opposite. He can at most fire two to three healing spells, which have great strength but will exhaust him swiftly. His knowledge of other magics beyond the basic Teleport and Return are flimsy at best and not at all worthy of combat usage. His long range accuracy also suffers from a lack of practice, and he's pretty awful with a gun or a bow. Finally, he has a strong emotional bond to most of his fellow combatants and will put himself at significant risk for their sake, even if it would ruin the strategy. Fortunately his wife is usually there to remind him of their places in battle and keep his shield pointed at the opponent.

• Garen crafts his own armor, and rather enjoys time in a forge.
• He's a surprisingly adept dancer, preferring a Limsan step dance he learned from Z'attana Mitnu.
• He's a very content parent, and considers time with his infant daughter Roysia to be his favorite pastime.

Other

• Garen is time displaced, and appears to be in his mid-20s when he was born over 30 years ago. He does bear the mark others do on the back of his neck.
• Due to either his presence at the Praetorium or his time displaced from Louisoux (he's not sure which), Garen has an Echo. His Echo's power is Remarkable Resilience and as such he is incredibly difficult to kill, surviving wounds that he really shouldn't - though they do often leave him bedridden for quite some time. The linguistics aspects he doesn't pick up on as much - he just thinks everyone's speaking the common tongue. He is, of course, immune to Primal tempering as well.
• Adding further, Garen actually has a Soul Crystal - a crystal of a young warrior. It's not the finest job crystal, but it was enough to teach Garen control of his inner rage and some of the basic techniques. As such, he is both a Paladin and a Warrior.

Relationships

Family

Liliana Stone - his mate and lover for years and between time. They know many every secret the other has to his, and have one child together...

Roysia Ashe-Stone - his two year old daughter, Garen considers Roysia the best part of his life and happily spoils the girl completely.

Friends

The Fireborn - Garen's free company, many of his dearest friends reside within the organization, and are as much family as friends.
