Despite his height and broad shouldered build, Yuuma carries himself with a peculiar calm that offsets any of his sharper features. Pale of skin, hair and eye, Yuuma appears rather washed out, with a pale, taupe complexion, and ivory hair and eyes. As most Raen do, Yuuma has bone-white scales and horns, as well as a barbed tail. ➤ MARKINGS : Though Yuuma has gained quite a few permanent marks through both occupational hazards and other means, none are immediately visible. The few of note may be the nicks on his calloused hands, and a thin scar in the palm of his left hand. Yuuma also takes care in applying white paint to the corners of his eyelids. Sometimes, an accompanying streak of white is added below his eye. ➤ CLOTHES: Yuuma favors practicality over looks, and tradition over trends. He is commonly found wearing garments with many pockets to stow away essentials in, most noticeably in various Hingan styles. However, after having arrived in Eorzea, his wardrobe has grown due to the addition of more local fashions. ➤ VOICE CLAIM: Ruki from The GazettE Ruki's voice is a good point of reference for Yuuma's voice. PERSONALITY ➤ MELANCHOLIC. To mistake Yuuma's calm nature with coldness or apathy is a mistake - his disposition towards the world isn't - and has never been - born of malicious intent. The calm that surrounds him is perhaps born of something else entirely; a sadness he is not quite able to shake, rooted in a desperate longing for a time when things were easier. Despite the somberness surrounding him and his way of life, there is a certain, quiet gentleness in all things. ➤ UNPREDICTABLE. Ever striving to adapt in a changing world, Yuuma has a talent for blending in - a talent that, at times, works against him. With unsettling ease he slips on masks - ever and always playing the role he needs to, rather than the one he wants to, avoiding commitments and plans out of fear for the future. Yuuma's last and first memory of Yuuri are of the rainy summer's day when he left, never to return. His mother's love for her husband has perhaps always been the sole reason Yuuma has never been able to hold his father's absence against him - an absence which his mother many times came close to suggesting wasn't voluntary. Despite raising her son alone from the age of three and plying her trade as a fan-craftsman, Shigeko always made sure her child would not want for food or shelter. A principle she instilled very early on and unto her dying day, was that strength means nothing without kindness - and that she would see Yuuma grow up to be kind, rather than strong. Sadly, an unknown illness claimed her life the spring before Yuuma had seen his thirteenth summer. After Yuuma's mother succumbed to the illness that had taken her, Isamu took the young boy in as his ward and raised him alongside his own two sons. Thanks to Maruyama Isamu, Yuuma was taught everything the lord's own children were - and was ultimately appointed captain of the Maruyama household guard by him. In time, Yuuma was offered the hand of lord Maruyama's daughter in marriage, which would have made his adoption official - had lord Maruyama's daughter not been murdered. Outraged by the death of his daughter Chiharu, Isamu believed - and yet believes, - Yuuma to be guilty of the crime. It was perhaps this request that led to her murder, as the Maruyama's subjects protested in outrage after it came to light that the beautiful noble's daughter was to wed a commoner. With a bounty on his head - wanted dead or alive, - primarily throughout Hingashi, issued by a lord Maruyama. If your character is a man or woman of the law (or just a bounty hunter), I'd be more than happy to set up a scene pertaining to his status as a wanted murderer. Innocent until proven guilty, though... Right? ➤ ARCHER & SWORDSMAN Perhaps your character has heard of a wandering archer of renowned skill, and wishes to learn the art. Though he might take some persuading, Yuuma is often more than eager to lend his expertise to those picking up the bow. Similarly, he is also willing to lend a hand to those wanting to pick up the sword. ➤ THE KAMI Yuuma is a religious man, and often visits shrines to pay his respects to the small gods of the East.
