Character

General

A lalafell usually found in a foul mood, with a sickly look on her face and some nasty bags under her eyes during most days. Loved by a few, avoided by other few and neutral for the rest, she says to be a priestess of Thal and enjoys a weird cruel sense of humor, which often causes her to be the focus of all the frowns in the room, although the cruelty of it is usually pointed at herself. Well mannered yet always seeming to be suspicious, inciting a sense of caution on some who interact with her, Koko has grown to be an avid scholar and researcher of the occult, eventually earning several derogatory nicknames such as "witch". This is further encouraged by the fact that she often sleeps during the common daytime and awakes when others go to bed, which combined with the fact that she uses blood for her research and some spells, has spawned a lot of funny yet misdirected gossip.

Elder of the two sisters and black sheep in the family, she consumes -at least- a bottle of wine a day, finding the drink to be one of the only joys left in life and one that allows her to actually be social. Those fortunate enough to have met her a long time ago may be attached to her nowadays, but for those who just arrived this might seem odd and unsettling, given the disposition of the woman towards isolation and rejecting common individuals from her immediate presence.

Recently, she has been offering her protection against aetherical or void related threats for the Kindred, solely demanding a steady supply of wine as a form of payment.

Appearance

From her appearance alone, one can immediately think that she has some kind of problem, probably related to sleep deprivation. Her upper face is covered by tribal tattoos and while her eyes give off a beautiful shade of purple, the nervous ticks she sometimes suffers there coupled with the bags under them make her look unhealthy. She is tall, but not extremely so, and her body is soft due to her self-destructive and sedentary lifestyle. Her back bears some barely seen scars which seem to be caused by some sort of whip, probably wielded by herself judging by the position and angle. Her hair is naturally turquoise, though some strings of light-grey are starting to show already, combined with hairstyles usually adopted by mature adults to give her exactly that kind of presence.

Her attire ranges from one extreme to almost the other, though she's more commonly seen either dressed as a priestess or as a wealthy scholar lady. Her acolyte robes are ornamented with void-sensitive pieces of jewelry to help her detect an unwelcome presence before anything terrible happens, though her noble-lady clothes are much more standard, merely offering a nice external appearance to compensate for her personality.

Behavior

Pessimistic, jealous, generally strange unless inebriated. Where this lalafell used to be a lazy good for nothing, now a mysteriously determined individual appears. Strongly motivated by an unknown factor she is yet to reveal to most people close to her, the majority of her actions show her willingness to sacrifice herself and take the darkest paths of life, so that a few specific people may remain walking on the light. Still, this same determination has caused her to become a little sadistic and cruel, finding entertainment and relief in it. When it comes to interacting with others, she can be considered one to respect the rules and at least attempt to remain civil whenever possible, yet still one to immediately bite with venomous fangs when the situation turns against her.

Around her family members, she seems to be much more caring, though in such a way that could make most people wonder about what her true feelings are like. All in all, her way of acting and living gives the vibe of her being like a walking-dead.

Combat

General

Koko is a nowadays both a fully dedicated and talented thaumaturge, and an apprentice in guild-forbidden arts involving blood and other varied sacrifices. When fueled by her jealousy, she bears little regard for other people's lives and can turn to be fairly cruel. Death is seen as more of a blessing by her, often viewing her servitude to Thal as something akin to a grim reaper in search of those who deserve to meet her god.

Phisically, she is not in a good condition, tiring fairly easily from bodily efforts, but her magical potential more than compensates for it.

Thaumaturgy

Of course, being now fully dedicated to thaumaturgy and talented for it bears impressive results, and so if something can be achieved through this school of magic, Koko can probably manage to do it. Not mixing it with conjury, arcanima or any martial skill, her thaumic abilities are very sharp and her spells can be subtle, versatile or devastating, the effects including but not limited to sleepiness, nausea, fire, ice, shock, lightning, explosions, aether bursts and short range teleportation. Her considerable aether pool combined with her ability to interact with it also makes her able to become a succulent bait for voidsent, easily catching their attention when needed, but also able to hide her presence otherwise. She has used this skill in the past to become a volunteering sacrifice in order to lure the void presence outside of its thrall, in order to ave its life while others take care of the demon.

Relationships

Family

Father and mother are frequently mentioned, and hinted to be missing, both of them being fairly renowned and wealthy members of the Ul'dahn society, according to both her and her sister. However, this latter is the only remaining family member Koko truly appreciates.

  • Yuyuki Yuki: Younger and dearest sister. Yuyuki could still be considered an innocent, yet spoiled child, and the age gap between the two forces Koko to feel like a replacement of their mother sometimes. Kokomi's past actions have indirectly influenced her sister's life in a negative way, to the point of eventually making her lose her own job as an accountant in Ul'dah. This is one of her biggest regrets, so one could think she's now attoning for this in a self imposed crusade.

Friends

Kokomi tends to have it easy when it comes to befriending others, as she's constantly trying to seek the contempt of those she likes, so her friends can be considered too numerous to be listed. She has however, a smaller set of better friends, mostly members of her wandering group:

  • Khemi Amariya: A Keeper healer with a practical attitude and a golden heart, considered a strange relic among her kind. Her best female friend, and one of the only people she opens her heart to, from time to time. Sadly, the two disagree rather passionately in religious matters.
  • Nananomi Nomi: Afeminated and short lalafell with a personality so interesting to her, that she tends to consider him an old friend from a former life. He's her best male friend, and that spawns some gossip, to Kokomi's detriment, and everyone's joy.
  • Zho: Miqo'te lancer, the wielder of Rusty, the Cheerbringer. Found practically in the middle of nowhere, yet instantly treasured and now Kokomi's and Nananomi's bodyguard of choice, and in a joking and friendly way, a pet of happiness, whenever it would be needed.

Enemies

  • The Vulture: a mysterious ul'dahn figure with some power and influence in the city slums and lowlife scenarios, but also with a fantastic-literary attitude similar to Kokomi's. The history behind the two is still unclear and confusing, thanks mostly to Koko's avoidance of the matter. The Vulture seems to be one of the reasons why Kokomi and Yuyuki don't live in a mansion anymore. (This is something I want to leave open in case anyone would deem it interesting enough for it to be a Player character)

Rumors

Common Rumors

  • "Yeah, that cute accountant's sister they say she is. First notice I have of that... they're nothing alike. I bet you that one needs the accounting to keep track of how many she... if you know what I mean. No? Bah, kids these days." - old Ul'dahn.
  • "The lass wants the catch to feed her lil' sister, or so she says. She does fine but always manages to get dragged by a shark or two, heh... good times." - Lominsan fishmonger.
  • "That slacker, friend, is like our own grandma now. I swear, she's old as my former mentor, yet is still under the apprentice category of thaumaturgy. I just wish I had her mana pool..." -Shady thaumaturge.
  • "Harem? Nah, just stalk the two for a while and you'll see what I mean. They just look, heck, even sound, like a married pair to me. She's always drinking round here so he's probably a little bastard." - random Bronze Lake customer.

Moderate Rumors

  • "Just walked in here one day, with all this old jewelry and embroidery. I recognized it as some of our old work, probably for one of the moderatly rich houses around here. So she wanted to sell it, and I got an excellent deal out of it. Still, I think she knew I ripped her off... but just didn't care anyway." -enthusiastic jeweler.
  • "I got a strange request from her. This lady was certain of being affected by aether sickness, which is not strange nowadays. But if what I found instead is a signal of what it is to come, then Twelve keep us all sane". -aetheric researcher.
  • "It was during one of my recruitment rounds, I heard this little voice and she wasn't even that great, but I saw her following the moves we taught to our dancers just today. So I thought hey, we could use a little chocolate dancer here too! Except I thought it too loudly, then she ran away from me." -one of Gegeruju's talent catchers.

Rare Rumors

  • "I swear on me mum, that gal looks like the Sparrow!" -drunken ul'dahn thug.
