♦ APPEARANCE
Moxie prefers to keep her hair down. It would lay flat and lifeless down to almost past her rear. She was born with a darken purple shade with shocking bright pink highlights. This hair she would hide during more stealth operations or when she finds herself slipping into Garlean bases to steal parts for her inventions. As of late she has cropped her hair due to the fact a part of her hair got stuck in her airship engine and ripped. To level it out..she has cropped her hair.
Moxie's figure is lean and curvy though well toned. She keeps herself modest in clothing to cover the full body tribal tattoos filling her back and flowing over her right arm. A tribal dragon tattoo can be seen in the mix of the decorations to wrap around her arm while resting his head on her shoulder. She enjoys the heavy lifting of her mechanics, so her small frame may have the strength to rival a Roe. Her tail is long, slender and muscular. She has been known to whip and pierce things with the sharp bards at the end. Usually though, her tail is only used to hold her lunch while she works. Hardly ever used to hurt a person unless its for sparing.

COMBAT & WEAPONRY
Rather than considering herself a 'mage' of a specific type, Glioca likes to think of herself as simply a 'Magus', and extends her study of magic into all fields, constantly seeking ways to multi-cast, or utilize a variety of spells together in ways which are outside the conventional method of thinking. She has been practicing magic for a long time, since longer than she took up physical combat, in fact, and works tirelessly to combine the two. Her eventual goal is a unified magical theory which brings all forms of spellcasting under a unique and singular umbrella. Glioca possesses some skill with each of the unique forms of magic: Arcane Summoning (Arcanima), Astromancy, Bardic, Black (Thaumaturgy), Dark, and White (Conjury). Her eidetic memory aids her greatly in the practical use of Arcanima for strategy and summoning her aether into physical form. Her manipulation of Astromancy is a much newer skill, as astronomy was always her core focus, the woman choosing to read fate rather than manipulate it. She practices an older form of Thaumaturgy, taught to her by her husband, A'rklonn, and in truth, at times her Arcanima, Conjury, and Thaumaturgy are nigh indistinguishable. There are some noticeable differences, however, in the way she utilizes each type of magic. Because of the cross-over between the respective skills, she is that much closer to unifying her magic into a singular form, which she refers to as All-Magic. A past history with astronomy as a practice before she discovered astromancy, Glioca has some limited, but growing skill with the Sharlayan practice, as it has been offered in Ishgard, and within the tomes she has taken to studying. She tends to be less accepting of 'fate' as a blanket term, and instead refers to each draw of the cards as choosing one more step on the great road that must be walked. She is not as capable with bardic magic as she is with some, though like with astromancy, her skill expands as time goes on, as she wants to add the unique chants and spell-songs to her skill set. If you had to clarify Glioca's singular strongest independent magic, it would be the art of Conjury, which mingles in many ways with Thaumaturgy as she practices it. She is adept with Ice and Lightning, and far less so with Fire, finding the element difficult and often painful to manipulate. She has taken to the darker magics of Thaumaturgy with great ease, and approaches the darker arts with what she feels to be appropriate reverence and caution. This does not, however, extend to her use of dark magic, the kind that uses the finely honed rage that bubbles just under the surface beneath her usually calm exterior. She has a deep well of inner darkness to draw on, and this is most apparent when she is practicing dark magic. She has spent more and more time working with her husband on void magic, leaning to treat the void as another singular source of magic, rather than the forbidden and negative connotations it currently has. This research is, of course, mostly private, and she keeps her dabbling with the void very restricted after the incident that happened to her atop the Crystal Tower, before it was closed off from access. Glioca has been a Conjurer since her youth, and after arriving back in Gridania for the first time since before the Calamity, she ended up seeking out the Conjurer's guild. Years of prior study gave her a keen edge, though she was somewhat surprised to see how much the magic had changed since she first began practicing the art. She has since learned how to utilize conjury in ways that many wouldn't expect, hyper-reinforcing her body, an act that provided a greatly boosted endurance and agility. Coupled with her already keen mind, this has given her a leg up, as it were, into the art and indeed, its long history. Many of her notes on Conjury, and indeed White Magic, come from the depths of Amdapor, and she works to uncover the lost White Magics practiced there, and similarly, those practiced by the Allag. Her study is slow, as is her study into All-Magic, but she makes steady, if inching progress, when it is her focus.

While not a combat master by any stretch of the imagination, Glioca does have some at least cursory skill with a number of weapons and fighting techniques. She has trained over the years with a number of different mentors and masters all across the world. As such, she has an array of skills that can at times seem unique or foreign to Eorzeans. She fights in a very dramatic way, primarily because that's the way she was taught, but also because she likes showmanship. She will not however, hesitate to fight dirty when fighting anyone. Her skills, of course, vary based on how long she has spent with each of them. Her skill with the bow is one that never truly developed past the basic skills required to draw a bow and hit a target a distance away. Unfortunately, her strength often gets the better of her and this leaves her with more snapped bowstrings than it does arrows in their targets. She has never met a mentor with the patience enough to teach her, nor has she found an individual who would suggest to her the use of a composite bow so that she might better utilize her strength without wrecking her bow. Somewhere, in the basement of her home in the Goblet, there is a pile of bows that have been snapped in two when her patience went with them. She is familiar with several bladed weapons, and has some skill in the use of daggers, long swords, short swords, great swords, and additionally, axes. Her skill with daggers is still quite sub-optimal, as utilizing two blades has never been one of her better skills. She typically prefers to fight with a single blade, rather than two, and this puts her at a disadvantage with the smaller weapons. The lack of range is never the problem so much as the speed she would need to utilize in order to use the weapons to their greatest effectiveness. When it comes to axes, her lack of speed is precisely what she needs, and while her movements aren't exceptionally swift with axes, the raw power she puts behind her strikes more than makes up for it. Long swords are where she excels in terms of bladed weaponry, having spent more time working with those than she has short swords or great swords. She is capable of utilizing either of the two, but again, those aren't her preference. When she was still Meallaire, she spent some time in the Gladiator's guild, training with the sword and the shield. She eventually sought out the training of a Free Paladin, though that isn't how she would prefer to spend her time fighting. While her skill with a sword is passable and she wouldn't hesitate to take someone on with a blade, her skill with a sword is still inferior to that of her husband, who has much more extensive training with swords of all styles. She has gained a greater degree of skill as time has passed, even to the point where she'd temporarily hung up her staff in lieu of utilizing a sword and shield. She has some skill with polearms, though much of her training came from a few brief years working with Lancers in Gridania many years ago. She could never be a lancer in truth, and while she could dress the part and has learned the skill of jumping, she'll never be a dragoon, not without a serious mentor who is willing to teach her their fighting techniques. Even still, she doubts she would be capable of focusing herself into the discipline that is required for the fighting style. Thanks to her time in Othard, she has some skill with ninjutsu, though many of her skills are very rusty, and not precisely what one would consider 'adept'. She's currently attempting to relearn the skills she once had, but as with every other field of study, it goes slowly because of the amount of time she would require to dedicate to it in order to achieve true mastery. Still, if you had to pick one type of combat that Glioca truly excels at, it would be hand-to-hand. She knows a number of martial fighting styles, both styles that would be familiar as far as Doma, and as near as Ul'dah. Her movements are precise but incredibly strong, and this is probably the most dangerous method of fighting one could engage her in. She considers using a blade as imposing a handicap on herself, and rarely puts her blade away for this very reason. She knows an array of fighting techniques that range from battlefield control to disabling and killing techniques. One of the most dangerous abilities she has learned is a technique to reinforces her strikes with her own aether to use them to counteract a persons ability to channel aether, either from outside, or through their body. This effectively cuts mages off at the knees, and in someone else who utilizes chakra or chi, such as a monk, or a practicioner of ninjutsu, it cuts off their ability to channel these skills as well. She is limited, however, as it requires these strikes to land very precisely in order for them to be effective.

She has a number of other skills that, while applicable for combat, are less frequently used by her. First and foremost among those is her skill with machinery. If it clinks, clanks, makes noise, or can somehow be used in machinery, Glioca can use it. She actually adores technology and uses it as liberally as possible, both in her day-to-day life, and in other cases. She often seizes and re-purposes Garlean technology for her own uses. She created a magitek guardian for the shop, a small Ultima weapon statue that fires off a condensed aetheric quad-Fire III if triggered. She's currently working on a smaller sized bullet for the weapon, so there's less of a chance for damage to the shop, as opposed to just hitting the intruder. It's a work in progress. What is not a work in progress, however, is the small Allag node that she re-purposed into housing a mammet core, which serves as an artificial intelligence companion when she's working in her laboratory. This node keeps most of her notes for her, and otherwise behaves exactly as one might expect a mammet to. A major pain in the ass. When it comes to stealth, Glioca isn't much of a stealthy individual, though she does have more skill than one would consider her to have. She tends to blend into her environment more than she does going unseen. More of a hide-in-shadows than true stealth, she's working on improving her skill with this ability all the time, even if she is a bit slow (and generally bad) at it. Despite this, she's got some experience with sleight of hand, though a master would obviously be able to spot her failings a malm away. One of the other skills that she fosters is actual medical knowledge, and not just the type that a spell can weave away. Having served as a battlefield medic with the Adders at one point in her life, and having been the only doctor for a time in her home in Othard, she has a good grasp of anatomy and physiology. She can do everything from set bones to birth children to triage on the battlefield, and has even performed reconstructive surgery coupled with her conjury. Her mastery over her own body is very adept with a combination of medical know-how and magical intuitiveness, and she utilizes both to great effect. |
