Mannerisms

As you might expect, Edyva is rather passive in her mannerisms. If there is a plan to be made, she will let someone else do it...and only really get involved if it's to point out that their plan is bad. In social conversations, she will just stand there, likely zoning out and thinking about something she actually gives a flip about. The only time she seems to take any initiative is when she is told that she CAN'T do something...and that is to do the exact thing that she is told she "can't" do.

She has quite the distaste for authority and makes no effort whatsoever to show respect to people in such positions.

Philosophy & Ideals

Edyva's philosophy is quite simple - if she can gain more power, she will not have to rely on the idiots in charge to keep her safe. In her mind, Eorzea's leadership, on both the large and small scale, has failed its people. Oh, she'll work for them - for gil or glory - but she sees them only as stepping stones on the path to her own ascension.

As for friends...well...she sees them in a very similar light. Deep down she yearns for real connections, but she is far too cynical about people to truly open up. So she will use her new 'friends' as a means to an end...

Personality Tidbits

• Before her drastic personality shift in her teenage years, Edyva was quite the painter! She dropped the hobby for the most part, but on the rare occasion that she paints, her work is a rather gruesome sight.
• If it does not interest her, Edyva will just go wandering off in the middle of a conversation, almost as if she forgot she was a part of it.
• Edyva keeps a mental note of the weaknesses she observes in the people around her. She sees nothing wrong with exploiting these weaknesses to get ahead.
• Edyva does not like to drink. She will if she needs to dull physical or emotional pain, but in a social context she does not want to dull her senses or let down her walls.
• If Edyva can get someone else to do it, she will.
• Edyva has only had romantic feelings for one person, a young girl - a schoolmate - back when she was 15. Nothing came of it, and she has not allowed herself any such feelings since then.
• Edyva sees nothing wrong with taking a life, especially to save one's own. Kill or be killed.

Thaumaturgy - While she has only recently picked up this skill, she is a natural at manipulating Fire, Ice, and Lightning to her will. Objective - Her apathy brings her some perspective, and rarely does emotion rule her decisions. Courage - Unlike the courage of her party, it is her morbid view of things that rules her actions to the point where she does not run away if she must stand.		Apathetic - Though it does bring her some perspective, the downside of Edyva's apathy is that she rarely connects to others, and far too often she finds it impossible to understand another's perspective. Passive - She rarely takes the initiative, going along with what her very passionate party-mates decide to do. Rebellious - Unless, of course, she is told she cannot do something, in which case, she oh most certainly will! Arrogant - She thinks herself above the menial tasks that she must do as an adventurer. She does them anyway, of course, because they are a stepping stone to her own greatness.

Powerlessness - Edyva fears more than anything that she will be unable to make a dent in the likely short life she will live in this world. Death - Edyva has a strange relationship with death. She fears it, like everyone does, but she sees it as an inevitability. An inevitablity that she must rise above and avoid at all costs. A New Calamity - Edyva not only witnessed the fall of Dalamud from Limsa Lominsa, but she has seen visions of the Calamity in her dreams, and witnessed firsthand the destruction in its wake. Deep down, she is terrified that another Calamity is inevitable, and that the rest of her days will see naught but destruction... Friendship - Edyva...does not want to make friends. She does not want to get close to people, and this fear is driven by her other fears. Powerlessness...Death...a new Calamity...what should happen to her heart if she lets people in and these terrible things happen? She can't allow that.		Coffee - It keeps her awake and the bitterness matches her personality. She has also noticed that her flames tend to burn hotter when she's had a cup. Power - It keeps her alive and gives her the strength to temper the world around her. The Opera - Perhaps the one thing that can stir her emotions is watching an opera performance!

RP Preferences:

I'm open to roleplaying with just about everyone - Veteran or novice RPer alike! Walkups are welcome and encouraged. My only three real requests are:

First - That you try to keep OOC and IC interactions separate when possible. I really prefer trying to keep character interactions in-character, and trying to differentiate when I'm talking to your character and *you* is difficult when someone constantly switches between the two without a warning. So trying to use "(( ))" tags when possible is greatly appreciated! :)

Second - I welcome almost all backstories and roleplays. If you'd like to do some sort of life-changing collaboration storyline involving Mikae, please clear it with me first so I can think about the story a bit ahead of time and make it an awesome experience for both of us! That being said, I almost never turn down playing a role in your character's development.

Third - Regarding character relationships, while I am okay with Mikae becoming - slowly - involved with somebody romantically, It would need to be something that would be built up upon many roleplaying sessions. I also want to stress that it would be strictly IC and would have it not bleed into the real world. Please respect that I prefer to keep the boundary in-game and will respond negatively if you try to make it go beyond that. Thank you! :)
