Having dedicated his entire life to mastering martial arts and the ways of the Fists of Rhalgr, he is built like a powerhouse despite his slowly advancing age. His crimson hair is of shoulder length, but is more often than not tied up into tight braids as to not get in the way during combat. Despite his focus on martial prowess, his pale blue eyes always seem to hold a friendly glint to them, wanting to make it so that people feel safe around him. Scars & Markings: Having lived a lifetime of combat, one can only expect to see a plethora of scars littering this monk's body. And sure enough, there are few parts of him that don't carry atleast a cut scar. The biggest one he sports is a deep gash running down his back, accompanied by several long burns. Voice: Arnvidar speaks with a thick Ala Mhigan accent, having done nothing at all to try and adopt a more local way of speaking. His voice is rather deep, always speaking with the utmost of confidence. And while he often can appear to be brutally honest, he always has the best intentions in mind. Clothing: " Hey, Chocobo! " This is a phrase that sums up Arnvidar's choice of apparel quite well! He is often likened to the large birds since he chooses to wear yellow in some way every day, even when not in uniform. The feathered headband he wears also doesn't help lower the frequency of chocobo references. NPC Hedda Strongfist ( ♥ ) ( NPC ) - Master Strongfist Arnvidar first came into contact with Hedda Strongfist when she came upon him bloodied and dying, left abandoned in the forests around her home. She nursed him back to health and sent him on his way once more, but Arn felt as if he still needed to speak with the elderly woman. He continued to visit Hedda any time he was in the area, and eventually managed to convince the hermit Monk to teach him her ways. Now many years later, Hedda is still teaching the younger Highlander every time they meet, and she is by far the person Arnvidar respects the most. Aswell as fears. PC Nailah Quill ( ♥ ♥ ) - Nai Arnvidar's youngest sister has come a long way in life during his many cycles of absence. Seperated during the turmoil in Ala Mhigo, Arnvidar believed her to be dead for a long time until they finally got reunited. Arnvidar is proud of Nailah as she grew up to become quite the accomplished woman, having landed herself in a leadership position of a Free Company. She has since taken to travelling after said company went bankrupt, and while Arn is sad this will give him less chances to meet with her, he is confident that she can handle herself. If only she had a better taste in guys. Ophelia Gale ( ♥ ♥ ) - Ophie The middle child of the Quill family. Arn and Ophelia ended up at the same orphanage, but were sadly seperated after Ophelia was adopted. The two remained in contact with eachother however through written mail and soon met up again. Arnvidar feels very sorry for Ophelia however as she has had to endure more hardships than anyone should ever need to. But despite this she still keeps going; a piece of knowledge that gives Arnvidar strength and happiness. Aliandrielle Naveleal ( ♥ ♠ ) - Green A fellow Monk Arnvidar met in the Kindred. The two quickly became friends and sparring partners, ending up fighting almost every time they saw eachother. This constant competing has led to one always trying to outperform the other, but also somehow led to them becoming a couple. And while some may call their relationship dysfunctional ( What with them regularly beating eachother senseless ) it makes Arnvidar happy and he wouldn't have it any other way. His trust in Alia is absolute after all, and he'd do anything for her. Thya Kahzuun ( ✔ ♦ ) - Shorty This Keeper of the Moon was among the first people in the Jackal and Hide Free Company that Arnvidar spent a considerable amount of time speaking to. He quickly learned that she harbors a dark side to her, but he firmly believes her to be a good person despite that. His record with practitioners of the dark arts is not the greatest, but Thya has nonetheless shown herself to be a trustworthy ally and friend. Which made the news of her heritage all the greater of a shock to the Highlander. Claisent Vaucotier ( ● ) - Knight of the North Text, text, text, text. Xivrez'to Ithaka ( ✔ ♦ ) - Smiley Xiv, the ever cheerfull Miqo'te, recognised Arnvidar as a Fist of Rhalgr pretty early on, he himself having recieved training in the arts. What followed was a series of joint training session, offering both of the fighters a grand chance for improvement. OOC Roleplay Tropes Roleplay tropes that pertain to this character: ■ Badass Preacher : One moment he might be standing in the middle of combat, taking and dishing out some nasty blows. The next he would gladly speak to those interested about the glory that is the Destroyer. And sometimes he combines the two and preaches the Good Word to his foes! ■ Bare-Fisted Monk : This really shouldn't come as a surprise at this point! Arnvidar is a born and bred hand-to-hand fighter, having dedicated his life to mastering as many martial arts as he possibly can in service of the Big Guy Rhalgr. And while he has a deep understanding of different types of weapons, he only uses this knowledge to more effectively combat them. ■ Battle Couple : With Alia. The two first got to know eachother over the course of many sparring matches where they traded wins back and forth. Now, when they team up against a common opponent, they work in perfect unison. If one of them gets seriously injured in combat, you can be sure that the other will exact vengeance swiftly. ■ Determinator : Twelve, here's practically the definition of Arn. To him, there is nothing that can't be achieved, provided one is willing to shed some blood, sweat, and tears for it. No opponent is unbeatable, to mountain is too tall to climb, no ocean is wide enough to swim. Put a challenge in front of him and he will tackle it with a smile on his face. ■ Drill Sergeant Nasty : Whilst normally quite a pleasant man, that all changes when he has been tasked with honing someone into a better soldier. He expects perfection in all things and will settle for nothing less. If you fail to do 100 pushups on command, you will do 200 sit-ups instead. And if you fail to accomplish that, then be prepared for what comes next. ■ Fatal Flaw : Pride. Arnvidar is a proud Ala Mhigan. He remembers the day that his beloved home fell and his people were all but driven out of their ancestral land by the Garlean Empire. As a result, he does not take well to people insulting Ala Mhigo or her people, and can often act more recklessly than is normal for him in order to claim retribution. ■ Genius Bruiser : Believing that pure strength and skill won't get you anywhere, Arnvidar makes it a point to study theoretical subjects just as much as he trains his body. Whilst no scientist, he has a deep pool of knowledge regarding many things such as different schools of magic ( even if he can't use them ), tactics and strategy, domestic subjects, etc. ■ Iconic Outfit : While his outfit is not iconic to him alone, he wears the traditional yellow cyclas of the Fist of Rhalgr at almost all time. He has therefore earned a number of nicknames among his peers ( most of which are chocobo related ), but he doesn't seem to mind too much. As an off-shoot of this trope, people seem to react more noticeably whenever he does NOT wear yellow. ■ Lightning Bruiser : Arnvidar has a rather large frame, something that makes his physical strength and toughness more than obvious. What one might miss is that he is far more agile than he might seem! While his natural agility isn't greater than the smaller races', by use of Chakras he can easily keep up with most of his peers. ■ Made of Iron : Arnvidar notably goes into combat with a relatively small amount of protection on him, what little armour he has being centered on hi hands, shoulders, and shins. It takes more than a few cuts and stabs to get him to go down, and even then he might still try to crawl towards his opponent. It is his belief that Rhalgr fights through him, so if the Big Guy wills for Arn to fall, then it is simply his time. ■ Supernatural Martial Arts : Being a Fist of Rhalgr, Arnvidar has unlocked the ability to go beyond the mundane forms of combat and tap into what he considers to be the divine. With the help of Chakras he is able to push his body to superhuman strength, speed, endurance, or even infuse his attacks with elemental energy. ■ Training From Hell : He both puts himself through this on a regular basis, aswell as anyone who comes to him asking for help with their own training. This varies from running long distances with very heavy weights strapped to one's body, practicing in very hostile enviroments such as the desert or in icy rivers, and other lovely things!
