As rumors of his skill spread, so too did his opportunities. In his late teens, Nunukuta was contracted for a simple assassination. It was a low-profile job with even lower stakes, and despite his sloppy work, Nunukuta enjoyed the thrill and the reward so much, he soon sought more work in that field. He abandoned his name, and came to be known by many other names as he fully devoted himself to criminal work. Shashafisa, the assassin. Body Builder, the peddler of labor. Uku Duteku, the lord of somnus in the west side of Ul'dah. The years grew, and so too did his experience and reputation. Known throughout Eorzea by over fifty different names, he was never satisfied, and always sought more ways to expand his influence and power. His wealth, whenever gained, was short-lived - spent on fine spirits and dubious investments.

After the Calamity, change was afoot. In order to secure his place in the rubble of a ruined world, he branched out and began gathering his own people, a new venture away from his usual solo contracted work. He founded the gang "The Sons of Sasamo," who are now based in Western Thanalan, from the gates of the city to the Silver Bazaar. With the constant influx of refugees from Ala Mhigo, their main trade is human trafficking, with a focus on labor and combat, as opposed to the "ever predictable" pleasure aspect. While he still operates on solo on a regular basis, the man has found great pleasure in being able to kick back and relax and let someone else do the work.

Character

General Info

A disagreeable lalafell that has a much higher opinion of himself than anyone ought to.

Appearance

Short for even a lalafell, and leaner than most, his stature never fails to draw in many predictable insults. He has dark skin and keeps his hair to a close shave - with the exception of his exceedingly well-groomed goatee. He is quite proud of that. He has a pair of sharp, orange eyes, which are arguably his most striking feature. On the left side of his face is a faded black tattoo, its meaning and significance unknown. His voice is deep and gravelly, and shows his age more than his appearance does to non-lalafell.

While he sports an unabashed love of opulence, he prefers clothes that are cheap and easy to move around in. Instead, he prefers to show his wealth and love of gold through jewelry, even going so far as to possess several golden teeth towards the back of his mouth (as to prevent their theft, or so he claims). He seems to have an oral fixation to some degree, and can typically be seen with a toothpick within his mouth.

Personality

At times offensively curious, at times belligerently rude, this man known by many names is always seeking conversation, and he always has an opinion. In most public places, he has an incredibly lax disposition. He may come off as surprisingly stupid for a man of his age, as well as dense, affable, and honest - but always rude. He seems blithely unaware of his own shortcomings, and will brush off insults and threats as easily as he will pleasantries. He has a foul-mouth and a quick tongue, as one might expect of a person with a penchant for hurling insults. He is quick to assume and even quicker to lose interest in people he finds to be boring. He will just as suddenly end a conversation with a stranger as he begins one.

Sometimes, in a more private settings and smaller instances, a different side to the man can be seen. His cloud of happy ignorance can be quickly shed to give way to a sharp, quick-thinking man that exudes a dangerous aura. Even laden behind a layer of alcohol can his murderous intent be made apparent, but it tends to pass as quickly as it comes. That such two opposing sides live in this man lends to his mystery as much as his name does.

Combat

If he's fighting in public - chances are he's probably drunk. He has a face easily remembered, and remembered it is in Ul'dah. Killing in public is something he will not chance, and so it is very rare that anyone sees him right for real, and live to tell of it. That is not to say he does not enjoy sparring, he simply has trouble taking it seriously. Only those of similar experience and history will ignite the desire in him to fight for the sake of it.

Having over 30 years of experience in live combat under his belt, he is one tough customer. He prefers to fight with daggers, seeing as they are both efficient, quiet, and deadly. When on the job, a small shiv, a single knife, or a pair of daggers are his tools of choice. He is quite skilled with them, and makes use of his speed and experience to allow himself to topple any manner of foe. The moniker "Pop" was given to him due to his propensity to stab larger foes in the popliteal artery. Said area is incredibly easy for him to access, and as such he has a love-hate relationship with substantial leg armor.

Daggers aside, most of his experience of fighting and pleasure derived from it come from fighting with his bare hands - namely strangulation. While he is aware that it is not the most efficient method, it is his favorite, and will do so if given the opportunity. It is a unique and strange choice for a professional killer, and thus his work has granted him many nicknames for it - the most notable one being Baby Hands, a name he chose himself to display what he liked, and to allow those who knew the name to underestimate him.

Due to his history, he has not been trained professionally to fight, and so his style can be described as nebulous "street fighting." It is a crude method of combat, but thanks to his pursuit of it and decades of experience, he has become very, very skilled.

History/Timeline

Born Nunukuta Rorokuta to a family of destitute but honest Dunesfolk within the city, Nunukuta was orphaned at a young age when his parents and siblings succumbed to illness. He joined a variety of street gangs in order to survive, despite his young age. It was there he learned to fight and steal, and before he knew it he became deeply entrenched in criminal activities. He was quick to take up work with a raiding gang that attacked refugees and small outlying communities for the sake of human trafficking. Not only did he enjoy the work, but he was good at it too, and thus he managed to make quite a reputation for himself in the Ul'dahn underworld.

Known throughout Eorzea by over fifty different names, he was never satisfied, and always sought more ways to expand his influence and power. His wealth, whenever gained, was short-lived - spent on fine spirits and dubious investments.

Potential Hooks

  • Any criminal-type characters in ANY City State have a potential hook for Baby Hands, just shoot me a PM.
  • Families or friends of victims of Baby Hands - that can range from mugging, mass-murder, slavery, assassination, drunken bar brawls... You name it.
  • Anyone looking to contract a highly skilled and reputed killer.
  • Anyone looking to buy an Ala Mhigan refugee (male, preferably) for any purpose.
  • Any Ala Mhigan refugee or otherwise bum-ass muscle man (race flexible) looking to be sold? Into labor/illegal fighting rings? Not ERP? Hit me up.
  • Need ANY type of villainous, antagonistic character for your non-Voidstuff storyline? I'm your guy.

Additional/OOC

  • Baby Hands is a villain type character. He might not always seem like one, but that's what he is. His views do not reflect my own, and I am adamant about the separation of IC and OOC.
  • If, for any reason, we are roleplaying and I make you uncomfortable in any way, please let me know. These are things that need to be rectified immediately. While I will not change Baby's character for you, I will do what I can to accommodate your sensitivities, with few exceptions.
  • I do not ERP. Half the fun of this character is people OOCly and ICly mistaking him for a thirsty lech, when really the only thing that excites him is killing. He can be lewd, but really. I don't ERP.
  • I will not, under ANY circumstances, tolerate powergaming or metagaming. Ever.
  • That being said, to the trend of edgy shitlord characters that are chomping at the chance to threaten, insult, or otherwise physically harm this character, I say this: It will not work. I have no desire to powergame you. While I am sure it is nice to be "powerful" in RP, that is not my goal. Baby Hands is a seasoned veteran character. He is older. He is experienced, and skilled. In no way, shape or form would he ever be intimidated by some young miqo'te, let alone get knocked clean on his ass by one (unless he was very, very drunk). Baby Hands does not enjoy fighting in public, and so he will seek to avoid it when he can. Just because he is rude to your character does not give you the right to godmode your character kicking him in the face. Should you do so, you will receive the same in kind.
  • ...That being said, redux! I will never do something to a character without explicit OOC permission. I will always ask. I expect the same courtesy extended towards me.
