Entering the popular Grindstone started him down a path that led him to adopt a young Miqo'te girl named Leih Ruhn as his daughter. He's currently working to free Leih from her circumstances and help her realize a dream of seeing the world. He remains distant from the Ala Mhigan Resistance and it's associated elements. If asked, there doesn't seem to be any concern for the plight of his homeland. Heidrek currently does not belong to a free company. Eyes: Green. It would be easy to read his stern features and mistake him for another dour Ala Mhigan. This assumption is only furthered by the tendency to get lost in thought while keeping his face passively uninterested. He applies black war paint to his face every morning. Blessed with broad shoulders and an athletic physique, years of selective fighting and an inconsistent diet have left Heidrek with a body smoother and leaner, lacking the more significant muscle mass usually attributed to Highlanders. Heidrek's voice is youthful and prone to enthusiasm. He wears his heart on his sleeve and has a long distance relationship with the concept of subtlety. He has never been trained in social etiquette and would make an awful choice to ask to a fancy dinner party. ■ His martial training and heritage leave him unable to stay out of trouble for long periods of time, as he gets antsy. This can leave him in a position of finding trouble simple to satisfy that itch. ■ Awful at putting his needs first and would give everything he has to see his friends safe and content before he would every stop and think about improving his circumstances. Fears ■ Powerlessness, being rendered unable to defend himself. ■ Confined spaces. ■ Setting a bad example for Leih. Quirks ■ Heidrek prays to Rhalgr while applying his war paint every morning. While he is undergoing this process he's completely tuned out to the world around him. ■ A fondness for armour that has good ventilation, even at times declining the heaviest armour available because he hates overheating. Magic Heidrek has an above average affinity for the Aether. However he has no knowledge of this fact, let alone any actual training. Crafting What your character is good at, or interested in. The Child Soldier Born during the last days of King Theodoric's madness; Heidrek's early memories are a chaotic mess as Ala Mhigo turned on itself, paving the way for Imperial annexation. As part of the refugee wave, Heidrek was raised and educated almost exclusively in the ways of war. As the drills became more intense and the vengeful clamored for retribution, the youth found himself feeling increasingly distant from the experience. Fear slowly took hold as the older children would leave to join the resistance but never return. Knowing that his hour was soon to come, Heidrek did what any sensible person would do. He took what he could and ran off into the night, never looking back. The Pilgrim of Rhalgr Adrenaline can only keep one's legs moving for so long and eventually the child soldier realized that battlefield training doesn't get you very far in a wilderness survival scenario. But survive he did, determined to find the truth of his faith and homeland free from the zealotry that raised him. The memory of the camps fresh in his mind, Heidrek left Thanalan behind for many years. There are far too many stories untold here, but we'll come back to that. Return to Civilization Within the last few months, Heidrek ended his self-imposed pilgrimage and returned to Thanalan for the first time in years. He overheard about a weekly tournament called the Grindstone and entered. Enjoying the experience greatly, he encountered a Miqo'te girl named Leih Ruhn whose life circumstances reminded him of his own childhood in the camps. Compelled to safeguard her from a cruel and uncaring world, Heidrek reluctantly accepted that he had been led back to Thanalan for a reason and set about reintegrating himself into society.
