Lucien Chevalier

Lucien was rather lucky for a lowborn. His parents came to be employed under House Fortemps. His father, Matthieu, served in the Fortemps military as a lancer, though he now spends the rest of his days molding metal at the forge. His mother, Aimée, occupied a more domestic mindset as a maid servant and seamstress. In doing so, they allowed Lucien to mature comfortably and receive a proper education. He was kind-hearted and well-mannered during his youth, although there were oft times he'd land himself in trouble for "doing the right thing." Lucien, aggravated when those in the wrong were not punished for their misdeeds, merely thought it just that he do the deed himself. He valued his independence; a hard-won victory by his own hands would always outshine a victory won through reliance on others. As Aimée always put it, her son clearly preferred to "march to the beat of his own drum."

When Lucien became of age to enlist, Matthieu urged his son to pick up the lance as there was no greater sense of honor than to protect and serve. Lucien resisted two-fold. If he were to take orders, they'd be from himself, and not always would one find themselves with the luxury of wielding a weapon. Most of his efforts were placed into the knowledge of pugilism instead. His philosophy being one of, "The field of battle is a cruel mistress, and one must needs be prepared to utilize thyself as a weapon of your own should you be disarmed." Along with this skillset, Lucien then proceeded to study common herbs for the purpose of producing remedies and poultices. He later realized the necessity for becoming proficient with a spear after a near-death confrontation with a wyvern. Although he and his group made it out alive, Lucien was still left with grievous wounds. As such, he finally begun Lancer training as a means to ensure a bit of distance between himself and his enemy. With the gates of Ishgard open and the war against the dragons ever raging, he's taken up the career choice of adventurer. He yearns to make a difference; to bring peace and tranquility not only to his family and friends, but to Ishgard--his home.

Particular Traits: A thin gash runs diagonally across his right cheek and a couple of scars decorate his chest. Two forest green ear clips rest on the lobe of his right ear, as well.

Voice: When speaking normally, his voice takes on a soft-spoken yet sonorous tone. This is also accompanied by a thick Ishgardian accent.

Clothing Style: The man practically lives in his armor, be it plate or leather and chainmail. However, his casual wear varies in different tunics, jerkins, and bliauds with appropriately matched bottoms and shoes.

Allies Orenji Kharn ● - Sky Captain of the Rising Claws; The Behemoth One of the first few people Lucien has met during his travels. Orenji was able to appeal to the lone wolf with an offer he couldn't refuse, that being a chance to take to Ishgard's skies and help bring aid to his home, all while still maintaining his freedom to seek out other means of work and adventure. The Captain has also offered himself to serve as a teacher for spear training, thus beginning a student-teacher relationship, as well. Nazyl Tharazyl ● - Sky Master of the Rising Claws; The Guardian The first thing Lucien noticed about Nazyl was his distinct style of speech. A little hard to differentiate, but to him it sounds rather Limsan in nature. Often times Lucien has to pause a moment to ensure he's heard the Lalafellin correctly. Aside from this, Nazyl carries a big heart for a small body. The love for his Claws family knows no bounds and is a notion held with utmost respect. He is also rather gifted in multiple combat strategies and Lucien hopes to learn from him one day. Vyse Gilder ● - Talon Sworn of the Rising Claws; The Navigator A young man with an almost always sunny disposition. Vyse was met second after Orenji. Lucien can see why people enjoy his company as he's quite the conversationalist and seems to possess a knack for lifting people into higher spirits. His quick wit and spritely sense of humor never fails to elicit quite a few chuckles. Overall, Lucien enjoys his presence and is glad to call him friend. Nataru Rahz ● - Treasure Hunter; Swift Paws The first Claws member Lucien sparred against and Nahare's older sister. This woman is like lightning on her feet and packs a hellaciously mean punch. However, outside of combat she's a rather pleasant woman to be around with her typically gentle demeanor. Her enthusiasm and go-getter attitude when it comes to treasure hunting is admirable, as she's not one to readily back down from a challenge. Kaguya Nightsong ♥● - Tinkerer of Technology; The Curious One A Xaela woman he has come to befriend and is known to him as "Miss Flower". Their first meeting bore witness to a scant exchange of words, though it was their second meeting that proved... interesting. She seemed to hold a fascination with Elezen ears and how they worked that evening, making a note to take advantage of his tiredness after sparring in the Grindstone to pin him down and inspect them. Needless to say Lucien felt rather awkward by Flower's wonderment, though after she came to learn of his heritage with an air of mild panic, he decided to spend the rest of the event with her in attempts to prove that he was not like most of his Isghardian brethren. An interesting set of feelings have made their way into his mind and they're something he's currently trying to figure out the meaning of.

Family Matthieu Chevalier ● - Retired Lancer; Father Aimée Chevalier ● - Maid Servant and Seamstress; Mother Acquaintances/Rivals S'Kiear Grimsong ≈ - The Blithering Idiot An obnoxious and uncouth Seeker male. Lucien was not impressed with the vitriol Ki spat forth in regards to Elezen culture and the Rising Claws. Because of this, an attitude of contempt is held for the man.
