Amenie "Amy" Chamberliaux is a Duskwight Elezen woman of 32 years, the proprietor of a lavish and hospitable library named after its sole custodian. Witty and observant in conversation with an eye for talent and potential in the people around her, she serves an almost perfect do-gooder librarian as a façade to a previous life of organized crime attributed to her underground gambling.


Amenie is a tall woman with a pale bluish skin and raven's down hair. Her features are womanly and attractive yet not exaggerated, a small mark dots below her eye. Her back is tattooed with the depiction of a balance and under her bust carries a tribal marking.

Early Life

Amenie "Amy" Chamberliaux is a Duskwight Elezen woman of 32 years, the proprietor of a lavish and hospitable library named after its sole custodian. Witty and observant in conversation with an eye for talent and potential in the people around her, she serves an almost perfect do-gooder librarian as a façade to a previous life of organized crime attributed to her underground gambling.

Amenie is the daughter of a duality of allegiances: A father amongst the highborn sons of Ishgard and a reclusive Duskwight mother who serves as one of the few sages of Sharlayan Astrology within the city's walls following her marriage to the nobleman. Amenie's raising was one of conflicting views: Her father believed a proud knight of Ishgard was to be forged in Amenie if she were to be accepted for her heritage, while her mother clung to the gypsy ways of fortune-telling as the culture of the household. For this she holds no ill will towards her parents but scarcely pays visit to her mother to consult her wisdom and only inquires on her father with her and sparingly so.

Leaving her ancestral home of Ishgard at 16 to visit the cosmopolitan reaches of lower Shroud and Thanalan, Amy quickly found herself at home in gambling houses playing cards for fun and profit. A mystifying figure to those around her, she carried the appearance of a roguish spellsword with the demeanor of a gypsy.


She soon capitalized on her unnatural luck of the draw and invested her large sum of winnings into business stakes with one casino after the other, influencing their businesses to benefit the hardly legal house and her own personal fortune. She would overtake many of these operations simply by opportunistic negotiation.

A large amount of her confidence in decision-making can be attributed to her maternal training in fortune telling. Her tarot deck was the primary consultant to any given matter: A business deal, the trust to put in a person and even her luck of the draw at a given table. Amy sat in her den and read her tarot spreads with a smug sense of security in her divinations, knowing she always a step ahead of chance. This would be her story until the age of 27.

Only truly brash and charming wit could have manipulated the complex mix of public officials, opinion and licensing deals to open a lavish casino in the heart of Gridania. Prior to the opening public opinion on the matter with the establishment of Adventurer's districts, it was inconceivable to establishment a luxury casino and expect to keep illicit operations under wraps. Yet Amy had the intention of turning the Elezen city into the heart of her gambling network, a place where competition was nonexistent and the people blissfully unaware of any wrongdoing. Everything had to be right, and so it was: Amy read into her deck for every countless decision to be made and the arrangement seemed infallible. The later half of her 28th year, she was betrayed: Hardly a fortnight before the inauguration and her ten closest associates wanted her head. There was an inkling of a rumor in Gridania that the business went through turmoil with organized crime assailants prior to opening, but the details of why the facility was never opened are lost to gossiping lips.

Recent Times

Not many questions were asked about the sudden acquisition of the building an investor interested in opening a library, with extravagant sums of money spent on the highest quality texts and schematics, a home to research and inquiry separate from establishments such as the Scholasticate or Mealvaan's Gate. Its sole custodian, a polite woman by the name of Amy, was never one to stray from anything less than charming and welcoming...

It has been 4 years since the opening of the library and the mainstay landmark of Gridania is unassuming yet pleasant, always tidy and welcoming with only one person ever around to greet you. Recently, the Chamberliaux Library has attracted a fresh readership and plenty of business with the publication of Hirakatsu Kurokiba's light novels.
