Delkan is a tall, older hyur. His face is wrinkled, his eyes sag, and his hands show signs of wear. Rarely is he seen without his fishing equipment on- boots caked with mud and gloves stained with who knows what from who knows where. Always seen with a slight slouch, and shoulders relaxed, Delkan is not too much of an imposing figure and tries hard not to be.
His face, chest, back, arms, and legs are scarred and torn from a life of regrettable actions and adventure. Each wound a reminder of who he was and what he did many years ago. When brought up he would be happy to make up a story of 'fighting dragons' or 'wrestling catfish killers', but he is ashamed of where they originated.

Biography

Delkan Alexander Lenoxx was the son of a prominent businessman. His father, Darian Lemaur Lenoxx, was an importer working for the local government of Ul'Dah who handled bringing in goods from all over the world to the local market. This is the world that Delkan grew up in, and even aspired to be a part of. At a young age Delkan's father passed away leaving the business in his hands. Having watched his father work, and even helped during his more spirited years, it was a very seamless transition. For a few years things ran very smoothly under the young Lenoxx's careful hand.
As time passed the importing business became a crowded field. Now fighting for contracts, he did his best to hold onto his father's legacy. He struggled to keep the business afloat so he started to accept jobs to import less than legal wares. This was when the blurring of lines started for Delkan, because as time passed it went from the very occasional looking the other way to personally smuggling goods into the country. He realized it was too much work to acquire his own contracts after some time, and found he could make quite a bit of gil stealing other's shipments and reselling it back to the owners.
No longer based out of Ul'Dah, Delkan moved from harbor to harbor to avoid the authorities. He would pull along side ships and, with a small crew, seize the cargo- killing anyone who dared to oppose him. Eventually he found a lucrative way of making gil; selling slaves- especially the typically docile miqo'te. This made a living for him and his men: buying, selling, and trading slaves along the coasts. Of course he did not go unimpeded. His body shows the signs of several encounters with unwilling 'property' and insistent authorities. Through the years though, he only kept one slave for himself. A little miqo'te he had named Charity.
'Charity' was a young sickly miqo'te that Delkan couldn't sell- not that he didn't try. He gave her the name based on his own cruel act, keeping her when no one else would. After losing a deck hand to an argument, and an unfortunate gunshot wound, he decided he'd keep the girl around to clean his ship and feed his men. Two decades went by of servitude for the poor girl. Beatings, being forced to witness terrible tragedies to her people, and always at the beck and call of her master Delkan. But over time Delkan had grown a soft spot for the girl, seeing her as the daughter he never had. How twisted this relationship was never occurred to him till she would eventually turn on him.
On a brisk day during a stop near Costa Del Sol, Delkan was standing by the railing of his ship. He had let his men go ashore to gather supplies while he focused on the horizon for any would be threats. He paid no attention to Charity who had drawn a knife, ran, and then plunged it into Delkan's back- both of them falling overboard as she drove it into him. She took her chance to escape and fled into the woods, leaving Delkan to die in the shallows. His crew abandoned him thinking he was dead and sailed off. He awoke in a beach house, his caregiver a petite lalafell. He explained to Delkan how he had found him at the brink of death and thought a local band of pirates must have attacked him on the coast. Delkan was allowed to rest there, and began helping around the house where he could. Every day he wondered why his beloved Charity would try to take his life. It was a slow realization, but it soon became crystal clear to him what a monster he had become. How even her name was a daily grim reminder of the sick relationship they had together.
After regaining his strength Delkan thanked his caregiver and began his life anew. His new goal in life was to simply try and make up for his misdeeds. Knowing that the blood on his hands would never be washed clean entirely, he dedicated himself to protecting those less fortunate, especially the miqo'te tribes. Armed with decades of experience in combat and survival, he now faces the world on a path to redemption.
