General Information
Erketu is a Xaela warrior, having mastered fighting with a greatsword against both the creatures of the steppes and the Garlean Empire. While she could have lived a bountiful life with her tribe, she took arms against the invaders in an attempt at smothering the potential ambition that could later drive Garlemald into the steppes. Forced into exile to avoid death, like many other Othardians when the tide of battle proved too much in their disfavour, she came to Eorzea by herself during the whole chaos that followed the Calamity. After an altercation with a ravenous Dark Knight she barely managed to slay, she stole the stone of her now deceased opponent and embarked on the journey to harness her inner darkness
Blue with red-orange limbal ring Greyish white, with dyed black tips Dark blue Lean, yet muscular enough Unused
Stiff, arms often crossed Ambidextrous Numerous lacerations over her body Black scales, white face tatoo, horn rings Wears mostly black armour or clothes, often without any helmet
Hair & Eyes
Erketu seems to care greatly for her hair, while still keeping a rebellious style. The tips of her hair have been carefully dyed in black in multiple places, often the strands that will stick out of her hairdo. Her horns are hard to miss, protuding out of the greyish hair from the side and top of her head. Her eyes of a blue-purplish hue, made piercing by the bright red rings some would swear can be seen in darkness.
Physique & Markings
Though the frail physique of a female Xaela could make one think Erketu is ill-prepared to face her foes in melee, it would be severely underestimating her martial prowess. This small frame is all made of developed muscles, able to withstand the direst punishments the Xaela forces upon herself to stay in shape and ever improve her physical capabilities. This taxing training is clearly visible on her body, in the form of countless scars of various sizes, from small cuts to large lacerations. Besides her racial traits, being dark scales and horns, she is also tatooed in white across the face, under her eyes. Her horns are also adorned with a firmly secured ring each.
Hygiene & Attire
Erketu takes care of herself and her attire with great care. Ablutions are a mandatory part of her day, except if she has to spend several days in a dangerous area, where she will satisfy herself with only washing her face. Her gear is always kept clean and repaired, to the point she would likely let herself fall behind her companions to finish her cleaning routine.
Psychological Profile
Erketu is a reserved person who tends to push people away due to her habits, though she would not usually refuse to mingle with others. The Qestir's distrust of words makes communication with her a hassle most prefer not bother surpassing. And even if you manage to establish a "conversation" with her, the distrust of every spoken word would be easy to read on her face. But if you prove yourself, you will finally be faced with a good-hearted girl, always willing to lend her sword and skills to anyone promising a good fight or the accomplishment of a good deed. Having embraced the darkness inside herself, she is somewhat of a cynical person who will eagerly resort to threats and violence if the situation could profit from it... and even if it could be resolved in a more peaceful manner.
Raised in the utmost respect of the Qestir traditions, Erketu's voice is nearly unknown to everyone due to her self-inflicted interdiction to speak. The only occasion where she allows herself to break the rule is when introducing herself, where she will utter the words "Erketu, of the Qestir tribe" before falling into mutism once again. During this introduction, one will witness a calm and monotonous voice.
Philosophy & Mannerisms
Erketu's philosophys has been built throughout her whole life, experiences and upbringing having created a vision of the world she respects dearly. She sees the whole world as an uncertainty to approach with skepticism, for your senses can sometimes distorts your experiences and what you are told by others, through oral or written speech, could as well be a veil of lies. Being an eye witness is paramount to her, with every iteration letting her build trust. Still, Erketu is prompt to help those in need. As Xaela, created by Nhaama to fight, she takes upon herself to defend those who cannot. Yet, those who receive her help often finds themselves under relentless assault, as she believes one will never improve if they do not learn to fend for themselves. Though the Qestir girl would never hurt too severely one of her charges, pain and fear are excellent teachers she will gladly summon to toughen them up.

Non-Combat Abilities
Large Aether Pool : Erketu is gifted with a surprisingly large reserve of Aether for her small frame. It usually stays rather invisible in her daily life, as instances of aether use are rather rare when simply going about your day.
Steppe Hunter : The Xaela ways of the wild have been deeply imprinted onto Erketu, making her proficient at every aspect one could need to survive on its own. From tracking your food to making a basic yet full meal out of it, those are skills she uses consistently.
Stubbornness : Erketu is not wont to ever give up on something ; If she has to break down your door to make her point, she will gladly smash it and grind every single piece of wood under her foot. This talent is even easier to see when she "trains" someone she just saved from an abuser, as she will not let up her assault until the former victim starts showing signs of resistance and prove their willingness to live free of weakness.
Combat Abilities
Dirty Fighting : Honour is overrated in Erketu's eyes, for you either live a sneaky bastard or die an honourable fool. From simply throwing a fistful of sand to tearing their armour apart and gouging their eyes out with their own plates, all deals are off if it assures she will be triumphant. Thanks to her Au Ra anatomy, she possesses a physical advantage through her horns she uses to skewer her opponents on a headbutt, sometimes even tearing chunks from their faces with a side movement.
Dark Arts : Having embraced the path of the Dark Knight, Erketu has attuned herself to the power of her innermost darkness. Though she is able to use advanced techniques, either for the sake of protecting herself or for the deleterious effects dispensed by the darkside, it always seems as if she is holding back the full extent of the darkness she can muster.
Swordsmanship : Erketu's fighting style with the greatsword tends to be impressive, made to be relentless and overpowering, with large vertical and diagonal movements. Honed by fighting the great beasts living in the Steppes, it is especially useful for fighting larger opponents while keeping them at a relatively safe distance. Which does not mean she is useless against multiple or smaller foes, iterations during which she switches to large horizontal swipes.
OOC Note
I am personally not a huge fan of combat RP, yet it is still part of roleplaying and it must be accomodated. I think rolling dice as the main part of combat RP is not representative of the character's abilities, as it is too random ; But going with the flow and playing it "by hear" relies too much on the other player's fair-play. And since there are too many people unable to accept their character could face a defeat, even while being sorely outmatched, this proves problematic too. Thus, my preference is to arrange the outcome before the fight begins, by using the dice if necessary, and then we can go nuts about describing our fight in all the details we want. Of course, it is not out of the question that the winning participant (or any, if a draw or an interrupted fight is decided beforehand) could finally choose to lose the fight if they feel it would be more logical.

Disclaimer: Many details of the story will be left out on purpose. It is always pleasant to have some basis of background about one's character, but it should not unveil everything about it and make in-game interactions fruitless. So if you want to know more (Which is gonna be extremely fun with someone who refuses to speak), I will await our interactions.
Sixth Astral Era
Born in 1550 of the Sixth Astral Era, Erketu spent the entirety of her childhood in the Steppes. Even when, a couple years later, the Garlean Empire seized the majority of Othard and Doma, she was still living in ignorant bliss, in the relative tranquility of the endless grasslands that were the Xaela's home. Hailing from the Qestir tribe, she was taught from the earliest age that only actions had meanings, while words were mere promises never to be delivered. This forged her personality as a kind-hearted and helpful person, always eager to go on a hunt or beat up a fellow child. Years passed, each making the girl ever warier of the Garlean shadow that could turn its eyes upon her beloved steppes at any time. And it was soon after her 16th nameday that she went out of the Steppes for the first time, intent of facing the looming threat.

As expected, the Resistance was unsure about a Xaela involving herself in a conflict they usually do not care about, especially when this one was unwilling to tell her motivations. But competent fighters were not a luxury they could afford to turn down, and thus began her life as a resistant, alternating between defending the downtrodden Domans from the invader and returns to the steppes to let things cool down in times of higher alert. 1572 of the Sixth Astral Era changed all her life once again. Garlean forces were spread thinner, yet still too important for even a decent chance at liberation, while intercepted communications mentioned a large campaign to the west. While she was wary of the written words, it was still a possibility to find Garlean in greater numbers and provide help that she felt worth investigating. She was not sworn to Doma and owed it nothing, and so she left and made for Hingashi where she embarked on a dour unnamed ship, bound for this unknown land of Eorzea.

But the Calamity struck before her eyes even glimpsed at the coasts of Aldenard.

Seventh Umbral Era
Erketu landed in Limsa Lominsa, witnessing the continent of Vylbrand in disarray. While there was no shortcoming of distressed souls she could provide help to, her queer appearance brought more questions and fear in the hearts of the countrymen than succor. Yet, with time, she gleaned information about Eorzea and the events leading to the current state of the landmass. Thoroughly scouring the land, as much in search of a climate akin to her native steppes than out of sheer curiosity, she stumbled into the recently-frozen Ishgardian lands of Coerthas. The welcome she received there was just as warm as the climate, the entry to the city-state closed by spear and sword before getting chased through the snowy landscape. This land refused her help and needed none, and so she tried to make her way back into Gridanian territory.
Ambushed by an Ishgardian hunting party, seeing in her a Dravanian, she was promptly rescued by the savage attack of an Elezen clad in black who decimated the hunters. Yet there was no salvation in this intervention, as the man turned against her in ravenous rage, and only through her greater swordsmanship did she manage to slay the beastly foe. Pillaging the fresh corpse, she stole the man's decorated greatsword and extracted a small dark crystal from its armour, fascinated by its abyss. Whispers overwhelmed her, while a dark flame started to gnaw at her core or so she felt ; but words are lies and empty promises, the Qestir ways proved an invaluable shield against the surge of darkness for she shut the voices down instead of heeding their call. The flame awakened turned from burning to warm, yet ever present in her bosom ; Something had changed in her but needed nurturing.
In Recent Times
Moving Forward
Years have passed since Erketu came to an unknown land, one she has now begun to truly understand. While still true to her Qestir ways, she learned to accept the cultural differences and became less skeptical of spoken words. With the liberation of Doma and Ala Mhigo, it is a whole new host of downtrodden that will need to learn once again how to live free of both the Garlean occupation and the dull routine it brings ; A task she would gladly accomplish by use of her strict but fair methods, a rough awakening to ensure only the strong and true shall deserve the land. But above all else, a free Othard was the occasion for her to finally go back to the steppes, to her family left too long ago ; And so she embarked once again on a journey she had made years ago, this time going in reverse.

The scars of the land when she reached the coasts of Othard bore doubt and fear in her soul, but also stirred in anger the inner darkness she had copiously fed. It was only once she reached the Azim Steppe that the dread vanished, as she witnessed her homeland for the first time in too many years. The sacred grasslands had been left unscathed, to her surprise and relief. Searching for her family proved an arduous task, but one she tackled with determination ; Yet she could not reintegrate the tribe, for she now dwelled a vaster world than the steppe alone. Erketu now consistently moves between Eorzea and Othard, by use of the aetheryte network. Due to the toll it takes on one's body, each journey is several weeks long to let her recuperate from it.

Location & Probability
Places where the character is very likely to be seen
Azim Steppe : Highly Likely
Kugane : Somewhat Likely
Limsa Lominsa - Vylbrand : Somewhat Likely
Coerthas - Dravania : Highly Likely

Addendum : I am a firm believer that one's character can be found anywhere it can be for the sake of roleplay. Thus, while I give the most likely spots for Erketu to be, she could perfectly be lounging in Gridania or Costa Del Sol if someone wants to roleplay there.

Most of these aren’t public, and would have to be asked after!

IC Inventory
The following items are things that this individual carries on their person at all times. These are noted for pickpockets, and those watching her closely. This information is meant to be a prompt for insight and is not to be meta-gamed, though feel free to use this information if it comes up logically in RP (pickpocketing, a search, etc) with use of a simple /tell.

Glio coinpurse.png

Coinpurse : A simple coin purse made of soft leather, containing a few hundred gil.
Weapon : Nearly always a well-crafted greatsword, sometimes enchanted with elemental effects.
Hunting knives : Two knives in a leather pocket, one made for skinning, the other to precisely cut meat.
RP Limits
I like to consider myself a flexible player who is willing to commit to a number of different types of scenes and role-play scenarios. I tend to include mature themes in my roleplay, as they are fitting to a grim world like Eorzea, until a certain point. In essence, the only type of RP I forbid myself to ever practice is ERP ; While I fully understand and agree that sex is a normal part of one's life, I have no interest in playing detailed scenes. If you have any doubts about the subject you want to RP with me, do send a message to make sure and work things out.
RP Hooks
While the below is by no means comprehensive, it's a kind of spring board for walk-up RP. Longer plots that are meant to run for more than a few quick RP's, please feel free to send me a tell so we can work out a good reason for our characters to get to know one another ; Considering I hold the belief that pretty much anything can work out, even the flimsiest link, for the sake of RP, chances are high such a conversation would not last that long. I'm always looking for RP, unless I'm actively spamming PvE content.
■ Members of the Qestir tribe could know Erketu rather easily. Members of other Xaela tribes could also be acquainted with her, though they would be less familiar.
■ Members of the Doman Resistance could remember Erketu's passage among them, though they might be quite resentful after she left in 1572.
■ There are tales of a dark knight wandering Eorzea, beating up or kiling abusers and roughing up their victims to instigate resistance in their hearts. Maybe she whooped your ass once, or maybe you want to know more about the dark arts, possibilities are endless.

Player Note
There is a lot of information on this character wiki, but it is by no means completely comprehensive. There are chunks of backstory that are left intentionally vague so that details can be later added as developed through creative writing or in role-play revelation. Feel free to use Common or Uncommon rumors freely, if you want to use a Rare Rumor as a plot hook or to spark RP, I would ask that you send me a tell first, to make certain it's alright.
