Goals

Religion

Judiel holds a deep and unshakable belief in the Twelve, most especially her patron goddess Halone but she is loathe to accept teachings of the Holy Ishgardian Orthodox Church of Halone particularly unconscionable. While she professes Halone as her patron, Judiel focuses mainly on the Fury's calls for mercy and justice for the poor and sick. Judiel would never want for an apostate or heretic to suffer execution in the name of Halone, and she deeply believes that this is against the very character of the Fury Herself.

Positive

Solenne Lagarde - A long-time friend and partner in crime, Judiel worked with Solenne Lagarde for years in a smuggling ring devoted to removing accused heretics from the danger of the Inquisition. After the death of Solenne's lover and kingpin of the operation, Judiel fell out of communication with her until a chance meeting at the Grindstone, a tournament in Ul'dah. The two now speak regularly and continue to orchestrate battles they feel are worth fighting for. Judiel trusts Solenne more than any other soul in the world, and would readily die to save her friend's life.

Virella Douront - Moved to tears after Aronaux informed her the story of the pregnant Ishgardian exile, Judiel has gone out of hey way to send several care packages to Virella Douront to give as much comfort as she possibly can. After a long and contemplative conversation in Limsa Lominsa, Judiel counts Virella among her close acquaintances, and is glad to have found a woman who has come to the same conclusions on the state of the world as she has. Judiel sees Virella as a proud, noble, and just Lady of Ishgard, and mourns the fact she has been exiled from the Holy See simply because of a pregnancy by a foreign Hyuran lover.

Hiro Matsubara - An amnesiac hyur Judiel met whilst she walked about the streets of Limsa Lominsa shortly after Ishgard's reentry into the Eorzean Alliance. Finding him a curious fellow, Judiel immediately struck a friendship with Hiro, discovering they shared a wish she had scarcely even realized before: adventure. These two kindred spirits have seen their relationship blossom quite quickly, and their shared romantic attraction blazes as strong as their wanderlust.

Music Themes

Note: Vocal Songs are attributed themes in which the lyrics seem to relate or partially relate to the character. They don't mean to resemble the character's voice. The instrumental themes are meant to give an idea of the atmosphere around the character. Songs with character names (example: "Tidus's Theme") are NOT meant to indicate that the character is like the theme owner. I just find the instruments and melody fitting, not the character the song was originally addressed to.

Rumors

Note: This section is editable by anyone. Just keep in mind that the rumors here may be both true or false.

"Lord Galendor de Farendaire was a good, holy, and just man. 'Tis a shame that he fell to the the Dravanians, twenty years ago, but his legacy lives on. Lord Aronaux and Lady Judiel, the twins, are both lovely, pious people, I assure you." - Elderly Ishgardian Servant to House Farendaire

"Lady Winter is a hated woman here in Ishgard - at least, the echelons who embrace the Fury's Will unquestionably - yet let us not forget that with her in every lowborn's tale is Lady Autumn. I shall bring Lady Autumn to the sword just as soon as I would Lady Winter." - Inquisitor in the Tribunal

"Lady Judiel? Didn't she try to be a clergywoman or something? I recall that she was training in Halonic doctrine until she abandoned her education. Rumors swirled that she had fallen into bed with a fellow student, but no one else in the Scholasticate picked up their possessions and left. 'Tis not that anyone truly cared who a clergywoman knew behind closed doors, but the Enchiridion warns against it." - Sleep-deprived Student in the Scholasticate

"I believe I met Lady Judiel Farendaire once, although I might be thinking of someone else. If recollection serves, she's a very sweet and prettily behaved young noblewoman. I know no ill of her." - Solenne Lagarde

History

Born in her house's ancestral seat, Castle Farendaire, secluded in a peaceful, sleepy valley at the edges of a lake, Judiel and her twin brother Aronaux knew little hardship in the first four years of their lives. The terror of the Dravanian Horde was known to them, certainly, and they saw for themselves the different lives of commoners, peasantry, and the various ranks of nobility, but hardship and war were distant things for them. Their sleepy life ended when the sun itself was blotted out by the approach of the Horde, and despite the valiant efforts of Lord Garion, his lieges, and the militias of the common folk living in fortress's vicinity, Castle Farendaire and all its lands fell to the enemy; only Lady Celinae, the widow of Garion, her twin children, three guards, her chosen manservants and the wet nurse of the children escaped through a hidden passage under the fortress.

Celinae's political mastery, vast range of contacts and acquaintances throughout Ishgardian territory, her relatives in her maiden House Embrelle, and House Fortemps' eternal debt to House Farendaire (through the valiant action of Ser Abelard, founder of House Farendaire five centuries before) allowed the remnants of her family to settle in the capital and live a comfortable, if quiet life. Judiel showed an early propensity for charity, goodwill towards the common people, and prayer, leading Celinae to send Judiel to Saint Endalim's Scholasticate, where she was privately tutored by Father Augustinoix Rameau.

When Judiel came of age, she was ordained a minister of the Orthodox Church, and proceeded thenceforth to attend to the needs of those in need, within Ishgard and beyond its gates. Judiel returned to the Scholasticate in the interests of elevating herself as a priestess, yet she realized early that she desired neither the chastity nor mundane lifestyle of clerical life.

In the years after the disastrous Calamity, Judiel came to befriend the Gridanians Richaud Debonet née Monsoulois and his lover, Mademoiselle Solenne de Lagarde, who operated under the names Lord and Lady Winter as they smuggled accused heretics out of Ishgard. Liberal in her faith and loathe to see the innocent killed needlessly by the Inquisition, Judiel joined their operation and saved many under the pseudonym Lady Autumn. Some years later, Richaud Debonet was captured and executed by the Inquisition, and the entire group parted ways; Judiel would not see Solenne again until after the Gates of Judgement had been opened, at a chance meeting outside Ul'dah.

As civil unrest in the wake of the Archbishop Thordan VII's fall in Azys Lla, Judiel held firm to her faith and goddess even as approval of the Church descended into hatred; though she disapproved of the more conservative leaders of the Church, and believed the new wisdom of Ser Aymeric and the High Houses, she believed in her heart of hearts that Halone was the loving protector of her Chosen People. This was the darkest time for Judiel, as she bore the brunt of both clerical disdain and the commoners' hatred, and on an otherwise normal night she was stoned brutally by three Brumelings; only a quickly-raised protective ward allowed for her escape to Farendaire Manor, where she locked herself away in isolation for a sennight. At the end of this time, however, she returned to her ministry, faithful as ever in the mercy of her goddess.

With the end of the Dragonsong War and rise of the Republic, Judiel has been faced with a crisis of vocation. While there will always be the poor and hungry in Ishgard, their situation had improved immensely with commoners in government and the need to feed soldiers abated, and Judiel was stricken with wanderlust and the desire to further hone her magical talents. She has reconciled her conflicting desires and Halonic obligations by being granted by the Church the blessing to bring Halone's justice across the realm as a hunter of the voidsent and undead She abhors.
